Larcell -> Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 7:29:25)

As we all know, there are a rising majority of strength mercs and strength BHs that we face in battle (mainly 1v1). A great amount of these players have very high strength and very low support. More times than not, some of us who have 50 support or higher go last. These strength-players usually have <30 support and go first.

As a +5 focus Bounty Hunter, I have 45+10 support. The other day I fought this str merc with 27+2 support and he went first (we both were lvl 32*). Yes, first strike is focused on luck, but wouldn't you say 55 support should have a much, much greater chance to strike first than someone with 29 support? Should we have a slight buff in First Strike (Starting % [thank you TurkishIncubus] )

Of course, we all know this will be a buff on support mercs; so what do you guys think? Any OTHER solution to First Strike?

*First Strike is greatly increased for the player that is a lower level than his/her opponent. In most cases, I fight STR Mercs & STR BHs at my same level with low support.

I haven't seen a support merc in ages, I support.

T.600 -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 7:56:34)

grrr yes so annoying when str mercs go first :/

romanu -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 8:07:06)

ye, u got to hate that. players with low support get first strike, and if he's one of those strenght mercs that use maul and also stuns u and then berserk...game over.

beastmo -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 8:50:35)

to be honest this game invovles more the luck then the support support just increases ur luck

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 9:45:24)

Most players with high support start the battle , if you buff first strike % nothing will change.

You cant buff Starting % just in 1 battle STR merc go first , im sure %80 of the time you go first and 55 support isnt enough to start always :S , if you had like 70-90 than you can start most of the time

drekon -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 10:49:48)

I support this as well, mainly because too many str merc get first strike when my support is at least 30 more than theirs.

Calogero -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 10:57:00)

yup... might also ballance the ' STR mercs ' a bit so that they have a lesser chance having the first strike with only 30 sup

PD -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 11:59:07)

Funny thing about this...

Titan never explained how the First Strike chances are calculated. Not once, not ever.

Can't really continue this discussion without knowing that, or else we'll be forced to use anecdotes, which are totally pointless to prove anything. If you think using anecdotes are good for proving anything, you're in serious denial.

edwardvulture -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 17:52:08)

How about drastically lowering the chance to start for people who have 60 or more base strength or support?

Nebula -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 17:54:53)

^That doesn't make any sense. Support is the stat that increases the chance for first strike. That would just be contradicting that advantage of support if it were to decrease it after a certain ammount.

edwardvulture -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 18:07:50)

^Makes lots of sense because offensive stats hit too high when spammed and should go 2nd. Dex should really be the first strike stat.

InceptionAE -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 18:11:36)

i say that the lowest support should SHOULD NEVER GO FIRST, and should have 95% less chance to crit, deflect, and again first strike then the highest support. any1 agree?

i support this discussion.

@TurkishIncubus, no change... i have 110 support and STR mercs still go first, no matter what, and they have more chance to stun me then any1 else nowadays..

Competition -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 18:58:46)

^ If that happened, support mercs would be the new problem.

sleddyboy3 -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 21:00:22)

^Support Mercs HAVE been a problem for a while..

stryker914 -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 22:53:32)

im still a support merc
i would love to be the problem

Cinderella -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 23:40:10)

I find it hard to believe that every time you face someone with lower support than you have, the opponent goes first. Lower-level characters actually do have a buff for first strike, so that might be part of the trend you're seeing.

Wraith -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/22/2011 23:42:06)

^Totally untrue. I battle level 32s, Im a 31, and they ALWAYS GO FIRST despite my huge support.

Cinderella -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/23/2011 0:12:41)

that seems odd- I'll ask about the numbers- I didn't work it out, but I don't think that support actually offers a huge advantage in first strike, but it does seem odd that you never go first ever.

edwardvulture -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/23/2011 0:15:22)

I think your exaggerating. I find it sad how I go first against 27 f2ps without an armor.

Ashari -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/23/2011 0:16:07)

@PD: Actually, we do know part of the First Strike formula. Every 8 more support you have over your opponent increases your chance to go first by 1%. The unknown part is how the lower level bonus works, but from experience I can say that greater the level difference, the more affect the lower level bonus has. At -1 level it doesn't seem to have a big affect, but at -5 levels you will almost never go first.

I can't see the first strike advantage given by Support being buffed more when Support is already the strongest stat.

Wraith -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/23/2011 0:16:20)

^Well not never, but still, after a 2 minute battle session(5 battles, 5 str mercs with minimum support, 5 2-hit KOs, 4 stuns), i find that I went first once, and they were all 32s with less support.

edit:

I went first 1/5 against 32s, but 7/10 against my friends merc thats level 29. But i did have 30+ more support.

  • Cinderella -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/23/2011 0:24:01)

    @Ashari- thanks, like I said, it's not a huge advantage.

    button33 -> RE: Should the First Strike % Be Buffed? (3/23/2011 0:27:29)

    I can say from my experience, that first strike indeed matter.
    But a str merc will never beat me. They have usually 30 support, while I have 140 support. They have never critted or stunned me. A little support makes no difference, but 80 difference will be evident.
    The solution? Get more support.

    @Cinderella

    No, that's not the trend. 99% a STR merc or STR BH i face is a lvl 32 like me. So the "lower-level buff" doesn't apply. I'm still wondering why someone with 27+2 support has an the advantage of going first like 95% of the time.
