xXx83xXx -> Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 18:31:51)

Let's take a weapon that is known to abuse a stat, hmm Charfade's Claws.
+16 tech, not bad eh? Well this weapon's requirements make a good example on how I think a simple way to balance the game is.
It requires: 42 Strength, 30 Dexterity. Eww strength! A technology abuser's least favorite stat (from my experience)!

Well we can apply this to other weapons. Cyber Shillelagh, as you all know is popular among STR Mercenaries, does NOT come close to the way Charfade's Claws fixes stuff up.
It requires: 45 Strength, 27 Support. YAY! Such a low support requirement make it easy to abuse strength, which requires 45! But this makes it so unbalanced in the world of Delta V.
It should be: 27 Strength, 45 Support. Doesn't that sound more fair to you?

Stat Abused>Stat Requirement
Technology>Strength
Support>Dexterity
Strength>Support
Dexterity>Technology
(just a rough idea)

I know what you might be thinking, doesn't this just make everything a focus 5 build? It does have the power to, sadly.
Please discuss what you think of the idea *I* came up with. /expectancyofbeinglockedandredirecting.

He Who Lurks -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 18:54:17)

It's not the weapon themselves, but rather the skills that enable them to be abused to such a high extent. Also, it wouldn't really make a difference if Charfade's Claws had a 42 strenght requirement, or a 42 technology requirement, BH's can't abuse technology to the same extent as Mercenaries.

MistaTechMage -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 19:44:37)

How about this as certain stats reach a undeniably overpowered point another stat would recieve a penalty much like health and agility

how as a players health reaches a certain point his defense and resist are lower Im thinking dexterity and technolog should be one of

these pairs as technology increases after a certain point dexterity decreases same with stregnth and support being a pair hopefully

helping to deter players from creating build which are extraordinarly overpowered sadly this could lead to slightly less diversity due to

players being constricted by the feature should it or anything similar to it be implimented in the feature simlar to what happened to

heal loop mages after agility certain builds might no longer be as effective this would however hopefully lead to players looking for new

builds or making their own without copying and pasting existing builds in order to be able to compete with whichever new feature is

placed.

Just my thoughts as a way to possibly help balance the game stat-wise at the very least slightly

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 20:07:12)

I havent seen any kind of balance update since i started playing but ive only been here a month.
cause you see the same problems over and over, and duels is literally is almost all you do I think we expect fixes to be made sooner rather than later
but ive read about so many massive changes in the balance of the game that maybe abit more patience is needed. the demand for new content is huge
and so many people get mad if their isnt an update every week and then complain when it doesnt suit them. one thing i did notice though is the 2 staff
members ive fought so far had very OP builds that stacked a particular stat. got massacred twice for over 70 and i got maul/berzerkered on the 2nd turn.

makes me think they are VERY aware of whats overpowered, unbalanced, whatever you want to call it.

Competition -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 20:09:44)

If everyone had a 5-Focus/Balanced build the game would be boring.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 21:27:53)

@competition: I agree, but at the same time, certain builds are given huge advantages and thats why when ur levelling u see them
all the time, being used by complete nubs for the most part. consistently beating guys 2-5 levels higher by doing the same basic
tactic says to me their is an issue. tweaks rather than a complete overhaul might be better but i dont know. id change mercs alot
and also make tweaks to the system overall.

Wraith -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 21:57:00)

@ Jehannum post dated 3/24/2011 21:27:53 I would not call them "nubs." They chose to use that build, and notice that many of them are Varium users, and thus have paid to support the game and access better weapons. Thus they should get better rewards. Don't you dare flame me, becuase I am a 5 focus Tech Mage.

Also, abuse builds, believe it or not, are creative. I have yet to see 2 strength abuse builds that have the same weapons and stat points. When you level up, god, do 2vs2! I did 2vs2 all the way to level 27. At 28, I got much better chance of beating 32s.

Meaning=every build has it's benefits and...erm...cons. 5 focus is vulnerable to strength builds, and we absolutely own everything else other than other 5 focus. *and tech mercs, I've defeated Deathknightmare 3.0 3 times already, maybe 2, I've never lost**

@ Competition post dated 3/24/2011 20:09:44
I couldn't agree more, but some people want this kind of build for versatility; you don't have much choice in build when you are a Tech Mage. WhiteTigerAE invented the best so far F2P support build, Trucos invented the overload build, Epic Pwnser is the founder of well, many good Tech Mage builds, Shundraa's build is balanced, yet not 5 focus(last I saw her), and TurkishIncubus's Strength Mage is quite powerful. That's it, and we stick to only a tiny part of our skill tree, we don't bother using others. Thus we just use [overload], malfunction, [assimilation], Deadly Aim, Heal, [and bludgeon]. I think that's it for Tech Mages.

For Bounty Hunters and Mercenaries, I have seen effective build involving only 6 on multi, and max multi for Bhs, he was a 32 and it worked surprisingly well (he had a 80% win rate). Also they can use strength, tech, dex, and well, every build you can think of using every skill you can think of. I'm not saying that Tech Mages are weak, we just use the same build with different stats.

Avantir -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 22:01:38)

You know, we've seen Strength abuse, and Dexterity, and Technology, and Support, and Health.

Never Energy.

One day, I will build an Energy abuse build. I doubt it will work.

And anyways, I really don't think that there's a need to stop stat abuse. If everyone starts abusing STR, I'm gonna abuse DEX. If people abuse DEX, I'm gonna abuse that too. If people abuse SUP, then I'll abuse SUP as well. If people abuse TECH, then I'll abuse STR with a physical primary. If people abuse HP, then I'll abuse STR.

If people abuse Energy, I'll laugh.

xXx83xXx -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 22:06:01)

Avantir wins =)

Wraith -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 22:06:43)

@Avantir
In your dreams there is a guy with 285 mana. Actaully I've met him, but I didn't have enought proof to prove he was dummying. (His ratio was around 40%, god, with 285, I coukda 1-hitted him as a result of low defense)

No one will abuse dexterity, ever. Bounty hunters have reflex boost, Tech Mages have Defense Matrix, and Mercenaries have Hybrid Armor.

Edit: Oh yeah, voidance, your dex build DOES NOT APPLY FOR A ENTIRE CLASS. Seriously, less than 1% of all classes abuse dex.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Short & Simple Stat Abuse Solution (3/24/2011 22:19:26)

@Lord Sinastr: I didnt call all players using the build nubs. I mean those builds are the most popular among nubs.
its the same in most pvp games, a cheap class/build will be used by the masses but that doesnt mean a player cant be skilled playing that class/build.

ive already quit playing after only a month cause of single stat abusing mercs. im gonna stick around though cause they say each class gets 4 months of OP :)
