T.600 -> A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:33:29)

I propose that Titan, Nightwraith and Charfade should reduce the varium cost of enhancements to 1000 varium for 10 slots. This would reduce the high varium prices because half of the varium we spend goes to enhancements. Would they refund to those who have already spent? No, unless they can repeat what they did with the Rixty and Soul rippers although that was only a week's worth of purchases. After this they can focus on improving the gameplay by introducing new battle modes, adapting the quest system and forfill many promies which have been discarded. Remember that it's a hard job to impress the whole community , Titan and Nightwraith have both studied at a high level, so they do know what they are doing. They simply need money to run the game. Well I think this would be a good start for Epicduel to get back to where it was, what about you? :S

xxmirxx -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:37:08)

I agree with you.

Wraith -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:38:23)

Agreed. You took the wrods outta my mouth.

The developers make the game. The need money.
However there is a very fine line between needing money to support the game and being moneyhungry.
I am sorry to say that Titan is money hungry.
1700 Varium. Seems trivial, doesn't it? You just use it. Does anyone notice when you enhance, you use $10+? Thus I thoroughly support T.600's idea of reducing Varium enhancement slots. Here are some reasons.

  • First off, the weapon has a 50% chance that it will become obsolete in the next year of few months.
  • Second, the incredible prices are the exact things that cause players to quit.
  • Third, what to the devs gain through quiting players? Some intense players that pay loads, and some old respected players that feel insulted and quit.

T.600 -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:41:16)

^Exactly they can reduce enhancements prices which would stop the complaining about high varium prices. As a result they can focus on making new feautures which would lure more players, I mean seriously, the banner of that bunny borg armor on the Epicduel Homepage isn't so appealing.

voidance -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:50:07)

Or atleast give a discount to the people that buy all 10 or w/e the weapon has at once. For example, if you are enhancing Frostbane, if you buy all 10 at once you get 9 and 10 for free, making it only cost you 1,200 varuim.

Wraith -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:50:41)

Excatly. I didn't have $50, so I opted to selll some stuff and buy Eggzookas ingame. The devs probably don't realize they cost 4400 Varium, which is over $20. That is what I call overpriced. Its preformance isn't perfect, I bought it for looks and stats. Now enhance came out, and I have to spend $10 to enhance it.

Look at it this way.

I got Bunny Borg. I need to enhance charfade blaster and eggzooka.

That is 24 enhancement slots. Thus 3600 Varium. Nearing $20. All I got to say is WTF.

T.600 -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 21:54:46)

You don't wanna know how many guns and zookas I have to enhance (87 slots!!).

ND Mallet -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 22:09:50)

Let me put the pricing into perspective here. 20 bucks gets you 2,500 varium. 10 slots cost 1,700. That means whenever someone fully enhances their weapons with 10 slots, the game earns less than 20 bucks. How many weapons or armors have 10 slots to enhance? 1 armor and all the Beta Gear. There might be more with 10 slots but I don't feel like searching the Wiki for them. The best you will see on a non-promo weapon/armor is 8 which costs you 10 bucks(and leaves you with 2 varium hairstyles). 10 bucks is really small considering the price of running a game. You have to buy servers, keep them running, work on them, pay the staff, pay rent on the building, pay bills for the building, pay for the programs needed to make the games, etc. If 100 people spend 10 bucks on enhancements then the staff gets 1,000 dollars to pay for all those expenses(which still isn't enough since the building is being used by dozens of people working in lighted rooms and using utilities like toilets and sinks).

Light Stridr -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 22:23:22)

@ND Multiply that by 5000-10000 per week, per weapon.

voidance -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 22:30:06)

I watched the Dev's make thousands of dollars in 15 minutes with the release of Bunny Borg. So dont tell me they are being drained dry by having to fund the game.

@T.600

O_O

ND Mallet -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 22:36:38)

It's 1,250 varium to enhance a weapon with 8 slots. 1,250X4=5,000 varium for all your gear. 5,000 varium= 35 bucks. 35 bucksX(estimated)100 people=3,500 bucks. That could cover the expenses monthly but I'm not the one who has the expenses to pay, therefore I cannot tell you for sure how much it will cost. Not everyone has varium, nor buys new gear every week and enhances it. Servers are expensive to buy and keep running, there are dozens of employees needing to get payed(and they're not getting paid pocket change either), utilities for said dozen of employees. It's not cheap running AE.
Also, throw in an extra 15 bucks to your 35 bucks and you get to enhance 8 weapons/armors since 50 bucks gives you 10,000 varium.

Edit: Calculations for Bunny Borg assuming 250 armors for each type. 500X(10 bucks for armor+10 bucks for enhancing)= 10,000 bucks. Once again, I have no clue how expensive servers are but they sure aren't cheap is all I can promise.

T.600 -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 22:42:01)

It's not cheap running AE, which is why they have multiple games ^_^

voidance -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 22:47:28)

When i referred to the Thousand's of dollars they made, i ment the armor its self too. 1k varuim per set, and almost all 500 sets of the E armor sold in less then 15mins, and about half the P sets. Which equals about 750,000 Varuim, not to mention that 90% of those people enhanced it for a cost of 1,200 varuim which is another 675,000 Varuim. So 750,000+675,000=1,425,000 Varuim(or more) spent in less then 15 minutes. Even if everyone had bought 50$ packs(which im sure half of them didnt) it would still be a profit of $6,850(Say about $8,000-$10,000 if some wernt bought from players that purchased the 50$ pack).

EDIT:
I did my calculations slightly wrong, instead of adding up 1,200 varuim(for enhancements) X 675 players, I did 1,000 varuim(for enhancements)) X 675 players. So in the end its way closer to $10,000 in 15 minutes.

Wraith -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/23/2011 23:03:32)

I just PMed NW and Charfade. Waiting for answer.

T.600 -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/24/2011 0:25:54)

^About what? :S

Luna_moonraider -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/24/2011 0:29:35)

is there anything possitive to say bout them hmmmmmmmmm i wonder.

H4ll0w33n -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/24/2011 0:50:33)

this is a good idea, their making too much money in one week if you do the math, *about $2k a week and im pretty sure thats enough to run 3 servers and bandwidth of less than 5k players*

The UnleaShedWolfZ -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/24/2011 19:33:24)

I 100% don't agree cz i already enhanced 1700 var. and 1200 var. so if it will be reduced i'll be very upset :S

its gd like it is , u can enhance with credits and credits are updated to low amounts , u can enhance full by credits.

~Wolf`Z~

Edit : Voidance and ND ... Super Calculations O_O...
What grade u got/are u getting on math O_o ? ? ?

Wraith -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/24/2011 19:54:08)

@T: I sent him an about 300 word PM about reducing Varium enhance. Also it isn't on the to-do list tho.

Cinderella -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/25/2011 1:08:38)

I don't think Nightwraith or Charfade set Varium prices, Sinastr.

Also, the devs get paychecks, they're not making the money directly from the game- money from all the games goes into AE, it gets chopped up and used to pay for things and generate a profit. It's like a sausage.

xxmirxx -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/25/2011 1:17:18)

I think varium price should be 200 varium less those that are level 31 weps an 32. Price for 10k pack too expensive for most hard working people .

T.600 -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/25/2011 1:25:22)

@Cinderella: So would there be anything wrong with lowering enhancement prices to a more reasonable cost for varium users?

Cinderella -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/25/2011 1:26:27)

weren't they lowered? I haven't actually upgraded anything since the update, and Nightwraith tells me nothing, lol.

goldslayer1 -> RE: A Positive view on the devs? (4/25/2011 1:31:47)

varium enhancement prices should be lowered.
