supremekaos -> A message from a lurker (4/28/2011 20:09:01)

Hi guys! would just like to say that this is my first post in these forums so thats why you wouldn't have seen me around! i want to give you a little back story about myself before i get to the main message, so you can see where i am coming from!

well i've been playing epic duel for as long as any founder, unfourtantely back then i didnt have the money to buy varium so i missed out on the founder status. Even though this disappointed me i still carried on, knowing that i still had my skill to rely on. I eventually got myself some varium and started the heartbraker faction, which some of the older players might be familiar with! after playing the game on and off, im now level 31, and although ive never reached the level caps, i still play competitively and consider myself a force to be reckoned with! every week i come to the forums to check on the updates but recently all i have been seeing are these constant debates and ranting between different members of the community!

It is pretty disheartening and rather annoying to see a forum full of posts complaining and constantly asking for more! i mean for you guys to have made me create an account here after many years of lurking should show how dire this is :P the main problem that i currently feel needs to addressed first is the huge gap between varium and non varium players! as a man who didnt buy varium till the late level 20's, i had/have a brilliant record and always stood a chance. However if i was to try and accomplish the same thing now i doubt it would be possible. apart from this i really dont think that us people fortunate enough to have varium, be it a founder, an elite or someone who purchased it yesterday, really needs to be given anything at the moment. there are alot more pressing concerns at hand that should be dealt with first. i mean i cant even remember how long ago the idea of different battle modes and boss fights were introduced, but for every week the devs are working on trying to satisfy our (read:YOUR) demands, is less time spent on bigger more beneficial areas of development.

well i hope that my message hasn't fallen on deaf ears, and that the community start to shift their focuses back to how to become better at the game, rather then what more should be done to make the game better. I mean of course its always great to make suggestions, which is what helps the game develop, but i feel that this has become a lot more then mere 'suggestions'

peace and sorry for the large blocks of text [:D]

He Who Lurks -> RE: A message from a lurker (4/28/2011 20:13:18)

At first, I though this message was directed towards me O.o

After this founder situation has died out, we'll continually be on the path for balance.

haha no it's not! didn't mean to infringe on your lurker title! lol

and yes i hope you are right! i mean reading the posts recently, a lot of people have said how the community used to be nicer and how people used to be more friendly! but unfourtanetly all i remember is being called a noob constantly for healing (proud loop mage user!) that being said the forums wernt as bad, and i really would like for us all to focus on the important things =]

First off, welcome to the forum.

We're very concerned with maintaining balance between varium players and non-varium players. Diminishing returns were put in place to try to close the stat gap, and we lowered enhancement prices significantly for our non-varium players.

^ which hasn't been appreciated.

I think non variums need to stop complaining about the gap and either do 1 of 3 things, 1. carry on playing and grind it out, like famous non variums have done. 2. buy varium or 3. Quit

simple really.

if u cant afford varium please dont come on the forums and complain, because it is no ones fault except your own you cannot afford varium.

However complaining and suggestions are 2 different things, indeed suggest ways to close the gap but u must always understand variums must always be more powerful quite significantly because if not, then varium wouldnt be bought. you got to remember for a varium vs a varium its a fair fight still.

This post isnt out to offend but to just open a few peoples eyes that the stat diminish update has benefited only non variums and is a massive buff for you guys and debuff for variums. I know some variums have complained about this but the vast majority have just carried on as usual.

thanks for the reply cinderella! its always nice to be welcomed by the staff ^__^ i remember fighting you along time ago when you were a tank merc i think...
anyway its true that these new features are helping to lower the gap, which is a very positive step forward! but the weapons and equipment between the two really cant compare, which on one level is to be expected of course! anyway that wasn't the main point i wanted to highlight, i merely wanted to demonstrate that other areas could/should receive higher priority rather then what reward founders should be given and which of the rare weapons should get buffed! i also wanted to encourage other players to look at the bigger picture! i know that you (the staff) are working hard to make this game enjoyable for everyone and i dont feel everyone appreciates it! i am personally taking a course on computer programming so i know how hard it is and impressed by what titan and everyone else involved with the games making has and are doing! i guess i just felt people got a bit too caught up with it all.

Dimishing doesnt help non varium in any point. It only made them more weak.
For example versus NPCs which is the only way not to loose anytime and to
get some credits. Varium players could just invest their points into health and energy.
Oh, and you forgot to mention that focus was removed for stats/dmg but remained
for varium bots which made those guys even ALOT stronger. Not many have the
luck to get a bot via the casino or donīt try at all because its such a small chance.
