2v1 has long been anticipated and demanded, but think of how difficult it would be to balance something like that.
players in the top lvls would only be able to face 2 players and cannot team up against one player. players in lower lvls can only play in a team
This will be incredibly difficult to balance:
a lvl 33 would face 2 players who are less than lvl 28 since a lvl 28 would constitute a 1v1 battle. How would you then determine the lvl range of the 2 lower lvl players? You would also have to consider the scenario of a lvl 7 vs two lvl 1s, and mid level battles as well. The power gap between lvl 27 and lvl 33 is enormous while the power gap between lvl 1 and 7 is small compared to 27v33. They would also need to consider the frequency of p2p players at the lvl ranges. If the devs were to formulate a system of level ranges of the pair of players that varies with each lvl of the solo player, it would be rather complicated, making unforeseen errors more likely.
2v1 would make the ED balance even more complicated since there would have to be balance between 3 classes, p2p and f2p, and 3 battle modes, which would be exponentially harder to maintain.
As the old clique goes: be careful of what you wish for.
