He Who Lurks -> The Staff Have Done A Wonderful Job, Within Thier Niche However... (5/14/2011 20:14:49)

Titan is EpicDuel's coder and NightWraith is EpicDuel's art developer(Charfade plays a huge role also), however, in terms of balance and marketing, they have been doing an unsatisfiable job. I do not blame them, they have had the 2 same main developers for about 2 or more years now as I far as know. They are both astonishing as a coder and an art developer(have you seen NW's art work for Azreal?) but they require a new addition to the team, someone who knows how to balance and quite possibly marketing(basically in-game prices on weapons, armors, etc.). If the amount of developers on ED stay the same I'm imagine a 20% of EpicDuel even achieving suitable balance. So what say you forum members? We can't initially place the entire blame for such absurd nonsense on the ED developers now can we? We need someone who knows their way inside, and out of balance.

Yeah, it's not just them, it's us as well. They may be causing the problem, but we're not being particularly helpful.

People who complain about builds being OP because they can't beat that build is the main problem. They complain about them being OP for months on end and eventually the Devs have to implement 'balance' updates to nerf that build to stop them complaining. I mean, Hunters got nerfs 3 weeks in a row because of complains. Mages got destroyed because of complaints.

^True no build is unbeatable. Now some builds like a STR Merc is definatly OPed but there still not impossible.

hardcore59 -> RE: The Staff Have Done A Wonderful Job, Within Thier Niche However... (5/14/2011 20:24:41)

@nebula i totally agree, just because you cant beat a build doesn't mean it's OP'd that is a sign that you need to change your build to suit said situation it's not up do the devs to make the game easier for

Nebula -> RE: The Staff Have Done A Wonderful Job, Within Thier Niche However... (5/14/2011 20:31:11)

@Isaiah Recently strength merc hasn't been OP'd as much. I mean, with an energy wep its hard for them to 2-hit if you have respectable Resitance ( at least 30 ). And as a mage its kind of easy for me to recover after their hard hits, but that is a build that is more powerful than most. However, buffing other classes or even nerfing a small part of the class would be better. When the Devs have nerfed a build they nerf the entire class instead.

@Hardcore Honestly the only thing that deserved its nerf was shadow arts. Heal Loop was a mages only good build at the time. And by the time it got nerfed it wasn't half as op'd as it used to be because people made counter builds, builds that could handle it well and defeat it.

Besides, at that time it was 99% NPC 1% random battles. =v|

In my perspective, strenght mercenaries were overpowered due to the fact they had the viable ability of stunning than berserking without you being able counter. They should have added an extra warm-up to Maul.

@he who lurks, yes i agree pherhaps Oped isnt the best word to describe str mercs, (considering their win% is that flash) but a class that has the abiliaty to kill any build working within the restrctions of agiliaty , needs to be changed, i think every fair fight entitles all players with a decent amount of health (70 plus) the right to have at least one turn , but on the odd occasion a str merc will kill before their opponent gets a turn and that is the only factor they needs to change, rather than all this diminishing returns stuff its would of been better to just change the problem not the class/ build just like what Nebula said if something has to be nerfed it should just be a small nerf to stop a problem.

well who else woulda done it? they got greedy, bottom line.

everyone can be OP'd you just need strategy, there isnt a build that beats all builds, some builds just can beat more types of builds then others, i can train in a way to destroy str mercs, mages i can deal with, bounts you just need to stay alive no need to use special moves on them but this is whats annoying, everyone has similar builds! this is because they ruined it with agility and focus, yea they nerfed focus now, but now everyone still uses those builds, EDs only hope is to reverse time and do things right

Remorse -> RE: The Staff Have Done A Wonderful Job, Within Thier Niche However... (5/15/2011 12:37:14)

Above, i kinda agree but i think reversing things back to how they orignaly were would be to hard , the reason is builds are too powerful now and player simply cant have the health to support it, i belive the main problem causing this was enhancements, now that i think about it wat have enhancements done:

they cost players big time,
they cause wepons having diffrent stats to have almost no value meaning the only factor contrbuting to whether a wepon is good or not is the quantity of stats and power of the wepon,
they add an extra $10 bucks ruffly to all wepons costs
they make spamming a certain state to the extreme easier
they make ftp have an even larger gap between varium and non varium making it harder fro them to win
they may be a large contributing factor as to why builds are so up and down all the time and how volatile it is for builds to become Oped.

all these disadvantages when all they really have helped is in reviving old wepons which isnt much use, considering damage is as never as good as the latest wepons anyway.

i wonder what epic duel would be like if enhancements was removed and those affected refunded . I think it would improve balance in the game getting rid of all these powerhouse builds allowing the old strategic builds to come back into play.
