pinoy idols -> Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 6:48:34)

OK, so you maybe confused and shocked by the title, But read on, because this isn't what you think. The effects I'm talking about don't add to your skill tree, yet it is passive. For example, Critical Counter. If the player takes a critical hit from an opponent, this effect returns 20% of the total critical damage back to the opponent. For example, your opponent's strike deals 30 critical damage, Critical Counter will activate and your opponent will receive 30*.20=6 damage. However, if Critical Counter will result in the match being a tie, it will not activate. Effective against mercs with bunker. If you have other ideas, just post them here.

Practel -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 6:58:37)

Id say id veto this. Whether you know this or not, there are already a few weapons with bonuses or special effects. The sword called "Azreal's Bane" has an efffect where when equipped it gives +5% critical chance, and the sword "Celtic Cleaver" gives a +7% connect to skills bonus. Also, as a bonus, all Saint Patricks day weapons gave an additional 2% bonus to connecting.

The above stat would be WAY to overpowering.

Hope this gave a lil explication.

pinoy idols -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 7:07:47)

wait, this wouldn't apply to weapons with effects already, like promo swords, etc. only on normal weps. actually it's either they come default w/ the wepon or you buy the effect w/ creds urself. holiday swords would then be exempted from this feature. at least even normal players have a chance against varium ones. in fact, i might as well suggest this feature to be non-varium only. well that's a first. A NON-VAR FEATURE! WHO'S WITH ME!

midnight assassin -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 7:07:52)

I disagree
First of all players without that weapon but relies on crit will be ruined (probbably bunker merc). Crit will be only useful for those who wield the weapon. A lot of mercs will complain about this weapon and can seriously ruin the game balance issue. Bunker will be useless because of 35% crit chance. The only good thing in here is that support build could be reduced because support increase crit chance.

@above which is the reason if asking other players to suggest other effects on weapons

FYI: I got this feature from the IQ skills in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. If you've played that game perhaps u can give good suggestions to me.
here's the link http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/IQ_Skill#IQ_skills .Check it out and see if u find somet skill you might like.

midnight assassin -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 7:14:29)

^ I just explained what might happen if the weapon your talking about will be implemented

King FrostLich -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 8:12:50)

Hell no. Minimum amount of crit is 1% while maximum crit is 13% and although it has an absurdly low % to happen and is the lowest chance of percentage of all the luck factors to ever happen in battle, it is more often seen and more likely to appear(which is strange) than its other brother luck factors(stun, deflect) even though stun has a minimum of 12% to happen and deflect which has a minimum of 2% to happen depending on your support.

pinoy idols -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 8:56:45)

uh, frostlich, who are you talking to? me or midnight striker?
in case ur talking to me, I say you read this part first so that I can explain it to ya:
quote:

If the player takes a critical hit from an opponent, this effect returns 20% of the total critical damage back to the opponent. For example, your opponent's strike deals 30 critical damage, Critical Counter will activate and your opponent will receive 30*.20=6 damage. However, if Critical Counter will result in the match being a tie, it will not activate.
It DOESN'T change the critical chance. It causes recoil damage to the player who landed the crit. I know it's kinda confusing, but once you get the hang of it, you'll get it soon enough. Also, it activates once you get hit by a crit.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 9:13:14)

No. It will be to powerful.

King FrostLich -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 9:29:43)

No and still no. I'm talking to you and that's too powerful like Isaiah said. Returning back damage from critical hits is just plain wrong since when did players start countering a critical. There is already a deflection if its for sidearm or block which 100% negates all crits if blocked except to unblockable attacks.

pinoy idols -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 9:32:32)

actually , that's not the only effect I had in mind, however, I don't think they're gonna fit w/ ED's gameplay. W/c is why I'm asking u guys to give or post suggestions here.
If you want you guys can check where I got the idea: http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/IQ_Skill#IQ_skills.
@zman 2 exactly, won't activate if it's gonna be a draw

ANNOUNCEMENT:
For anyone reading this thread, suggest other possible effects instead

King FrostLich -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 9:42:09)

First of all we're not in a pokemon world where critical hits can be countered, so what if I'll give an example:

Your a support merc with 6 hp left and your opponent has 34 hp. You have rage bazooka(lets say Charfade's Launcher) and your support has a total of 165 which means you have a total of 33-40+37 bazooka damage. Since you have so much support and a large zooka damage plus the maximum crit rate(which is 13%), you inflict a critical hit over 71 dmg; as a result to critical counter from your opponent, you receive a recoiled damage of 15 damage(rounded off) and therefore the battle is a draw. It's strange how critical counter can kill you I mean, if it were to counter the damage what is the graphical action that character will do?? Simply push back the rocket and do recoil damage to you as well? It will be also weird that you just died after firing a bazooka as well.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 9:43:54)

@above
i think he said it wldnt happen if it result in a draw
and this cld reduce the amount of high support builds a little bit... but still no :/

Light Stridr -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 11:52:46)

That would be a good idea for a move though...one with recoil...or even a defensive move with that effect...

SCORPIOZZz -> RE: Weapons with special effects, anyone? (5/16/2011 14:49:47)

more special effects = more unbalance -_-
not supported
