Here's a(nother) aspect of ED that is really frustrating:

It's stupid how any new player can join in, level to 33 in like three days, spend $60 to get all the newest and enhanced gear, copy a build, and then compete with those of us who've been playing for more than a year.

In most of other competitive games (wait, I forgot this game is NOT based on skill ... but I digress), there is a substantial learning curve, which separates the rookies from the veterans. It's a shame that it isn't like that in ED.

Examples of games that you can't just buy your way in and expect to compete:

~Any sport
~Any online shooter game
~Any RPG
~Basically, anything besides ED.

In conclusion, if you are a competition junkie and thought ED was filling that need, you have been mistaken.

Agree? Disagree?

True so very true I noticed this when gamma started

goldslayer1 -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 20:01:23)

@frog
yeah new players can come and get the latest gear (my friend from aqw got eggzookas 2 days ago, but he not lvl 29 yet)

od -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 20:03:05)

So true I owned a member 9 lvls higher than me ( I'm non-member) in the old darkovia pvp in aqw

Nexus... -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 20:04:23)

Agree.

Money is everything in this game. Although some may argue it still takes time for people to gain "skill", they mostly get that in leveling from 28-33. As soon as they get to 33 they can buy the latest gear, and beat out players who have less recent gear. Of course as usual this is all BASED AROUND MONEY. Their is a level of skill, but a very small one, and its mostly about who has the latest weapons and equipment =/

Exactly like lacrosse. My newbie friends got $135 dollar gloves and spent a little less on shoulder pads and arm guards. Back to ED... No one can even that I've been playing since The very beginning of beta, save for my founder and beta achieves

wow my last very lengthy message is gone noooooo

anyways u can buy ur way in but if u are new u will still make mistakes and most likely spend ur varium on useless things

ex i was lv1 with 3 rating stars:) this is true

Shadowsteed -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 20:33:35)

Very true. I was wondering why players with so little wins are already lvls 28-33. I have more than 9000 wins and still not lvl 33. I seen people with less than my wins and are lvl 33.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 21:03:46)

Did you all just realize this? This game only takes money and no skill.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 21:41:47)

True if they have all the best varuim gear they can get from level 1 to 33 in less then a week if they can play for hours and with teh best gear for their level the will never lose.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 22:18:55)

@isiai
im not sure if u looked at the exp required
its about 1000 wins for lvl 30-31
and another 1000 wins for 31-32 and then another 1000 wins for 32-33
and the wins from 1 to 29 is about 2500
thats a total of 5500 wins
i doubt anyone can do that in 1 week.

(these numbers are assuming u constantly fight people of ur lvl in 1 vs 1, it doesn't count power hour or defeating higher lvls)

extreme wizard -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 22:29:20)

Remember, the staff are still building this game. Don't be too hard on them.

Although it is easy to buy your way into this game. I am unable to buy Varium because my Master acc with my points is linked to the wrong ED acc, and it's impossible to un-link ED accs...so it looks like I can't support the game. I did just fight a player five levels below me who had all Varium gear and who barely was in any fights...I lost because the Varium gear he had gave him so many bonuses! It is ridiculous how unbalanced this game is, and it sucks to be on the lower side of the unbalanced platform that is ED, but the staff are still working on it. Give 'em time.

frogbones -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 22:41:42)

@ above:

You mean, Give 'em money.

extreme wizard -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 22:46:12)

@Frogbones: Since time is money, I believe we said the same thing. [;)] Hehehe, ok real answer is that the staff can fix prices over time, so we just need to wait and suggest to them what prices need to be changed.

frogbones -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 22:54:44)

Heh. But you're talking about their time and our money, which are definitely not the same thing.

And I've really become so jaded as to have zero faith in anything within a 50' radius of ED.

extreme wizard -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 23:00:57)

@Frogbones: My "time is money" line was more joke than serious, sorry about that. And if you are so against ED, then just don't play it. When/If the game gets more balanced as time goes on, things will improve.

frogbones -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 23:12:30)

Yay! Another "Don't play it if you don't like it" oversimplification.

Sigh.

extreme wizard -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 23:24:08)

...I did over-simplify that, didn't I? -facepalm- It's late here, sorry about my lack of conscious thought in that comment. ........I really have no idea what to say now. I know it can be frustrating to see a game fall apart (I saw Runescape fall apart, not fun.), and you have reason to be frustrated. Just realize that the game is still salvage-able.

frogbones -> RE: Buying Your Way In (5/20/2011 23:34:47)

No worries, Wiz. You're all right in book (for whatever that's worth!).
