Wiseman -> Just a thought on varium value. (5/21/2011 23:48:37)

A lot of players seem to be debating the issue of varium package price/worth, and promo items. I've thought about this awhile, and I figured the old pricing was fine before enhancements were released. However now that enhancements have been added to the game the varium pay off per package is far less useful. Enhancements also add a new incentive to buy varium, and I figure people would pay more for a fully enhanced item, rather then buy an item that's not enhanced, and then enhance it.

Here's my thoughts on how the pricing could be improved, and how they can make promos more available to everyone, yet still add an incentive to buy the highest package.

It's fairly simple, all they need to do is add a 80% varium pay off to each package offer, and have the promo weapons offered in both of the top two packages. However the top package comes with them fully enhanced*, but non enhanceable promos will only be offered in the top package. Also they could increase the credit pay off for the top three packages by 5000 credits each.*Removed this part do to possible credit inflation issues.*

The promos could still be added in game, but at an increased varium price, (to match the new varium pay off per package) however regular weapons will continue to be offered at the current price range.

Here's a chart** that will explain the difference between the current pricing/worth compared to what I'm suggesting.

--------------------------------CURRENT--------------NEW
Cost ($)--------Artix Points----Varium----Credits----Varium----Credits
$5.00-----------1000------------500-------0----------900-------0
$9.95-----------2000------------1250------0----------2250------0
$19.95----------4000------------2500------3000-------4500------3000
$34.95----------7000------------5000------8000-------9000------8000
$49.95----------10000-----------10000-----15000------18000-----15000

Anyway I'm posting this here to get player feedback, and to discuss if it would be a fair change.

* Thanks to Nexus... for the enhancement suggestion.
** Thanks to Ashari for the chart

Edit: Changed to title to make more sense.

Sound fair my question to you will be how long will it take to implimant this

Wraith -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/21/2011 23:53:01)

Smart idea!

ND Mallet -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/21/2011 23:54:24)

The only problem I really have with this is that 18,000 varium, a free weapon and full enhancements is a lot for 50 bucks. Compared to now, the 50 dollar package has practically doubled in value while costing no different. It's like 100 dollars now but only paying 50 for it all.

Soliqe -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/21/2011 23:55:17)

Here's some things I'd like to add:

4.5k package needs 6,000 credits added with it.

Now, let's pretend a new promotion has come up. The promotion offers two variations of one type of sword
Promo award system would be as such.

$5 - Nothing
$10 - Nothing
$20 - NEW seasonal promo achievement
$35 - Seasonal Achievement and Choice of one of the promotional swords
$50 - Seasonal Achievement and both swords

If it were a single weapon for the promo it would just be a change for the $35 and $50

$35 - Seasonal Achievement and un-enhanced Sword
$50 - Seasonal Achievement and fully enhanced Sword

Wiseman -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/21/2011 23:57:49)

@The ND Mallet Guy: How about if the credit pay off stays the same, but the rest was changed?

Edit: Also more value = more sells, and happy customers, am I right?

Rayman -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/21/2011 23:57:51)

YES thats good i would like to see this.

always the 10k pack is to little.

Rabies -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:03:55)

Really good idea, this would sure give us the bang for the buck.

ND Mallet -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:05:43)

A small price reduction on varium. Perhaps down to 15k or 16k with credits dropping by 2-3k as well. Credits is fine in my opinion but it feels weird to do nothing to it though.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:07:44)

@rayman
18k is not too little, thats almost $105 worth of the current varium
srry misinterpreted

Rayman -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:09:46)

zman: 18k is alot 10k is litte for me becouse is like 4 weps with enchancements included.

DeathGuard -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:11:36)

Wow, now this is interesting, hmmm I would like it to be implemented, and many players will buy more packages of it. The Higher % of money, the higher the fun for them :P.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:14:39)

hmm
i had a similar idea.
but its like in aqw, it allows u to add 5k for $5
u think that could be implemented here?
i would like to get 23k varium for $55
thats a good deal.

Wiseman -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:18:59)

@ zman 2: Actually it would be 90$ worth of varium if you want to compare it to the current pricing, I simply increased all the packages by 80%.

@ The ND Mallet Guy: You do have a point, however with the changes in price and how promos work, most would start buying the 35$ thinking that it gives enough (since its comparable to the old 50$ pack), however by adding extra incentive to the 50$ pack some players will still purchase it because it is a good value.

Just compare AQW memberships, and you will see what I mean.

Top Package: $49.95 is 1 year membership + 5000 ACs, with a +$5 extra option for 5000 more ACs

Second Best: $34.95 is 6 months + 2000 ACs, with +$5 for 5000 AC

They double the value for the top package.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:27:03)

well i still would like varium increase for the packages.
it would allow me to class change alot more.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:27:12)

@wise
i just said 105 becuz 2500 is 20, 5000 is 35 (so 55 total), and 10k for 50 (so 105 total) but i guess i went wrong somewhere but oh well
but if something like this does happen i hope they add all the varium we would have gotten before, also dont they keep track of the varium u buy? if yes then it wouldnt be 2 hard 2 implement this and give everyone the new varium they shldve gotten (kinda like wut happened with AQ a year or 2 ago)

helloguy -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:29:53)

@ Above shh what I have learned of previous suggestions jumping in with affecting past actions usually doesn't do good for the idea in the end But if they agreaim all for it

xxmirxx -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:34:16)

I feel like your post is just cover up for dev's. I feel like your just try throw us off real picture. So you and staff been try keep us in dark. So you make pricing like this to make us forget whats happening. but other then that it seems fair prices.

kittycat -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:35:43)

Well, I agree with the increase in Packages, but shouldn't be the 19.95 Package be including 3000 Credits because that's what they said on the Epicduel Wikipedia + Epicduel Game Site.

Added, thanks for mentioning it. ~Wise

goldslayer1 -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:36:52)

@kittycat
there should be a way to purchase credits thru varium ingame.
like 10k credits for 100 varium.

Nexus... -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:40:56)

You have my full support on this one Wiseman :)

Looks great.

1999Rex -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:46:15)

The only problem is, when will it happen..?

kittycat -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:49:22)

There is another mistake too I spotted. 8000 + 5000 = 12000? Shouldn't it be 13000 Credits for the 34.95 Credits as the suggested?

Fixed, thanks again! ~Wise

Wiseman -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:55:30)

@ 1999Rex: If it was to be implemented, it would most likely be at a future time, my thoughts are that it would be a good addition to ED 2.0 along with all the improvements in the code. In any case I doubt it would happen before this promo is replaced with a new one, but if it did they can't lower the package offer for the current promo since its already in the highest package.

As for the question about players that have previously purchased the packages, if the new prices where added, the developers may give the ones that paid before something (most likely an achievement), however it's completely up to them, and I wouldn't expect anything.

For those of you who feel you need to be compensated for past purchases, my question to you is: Do you want the new prices are not? Or rather, would you want the packages to stay the same price because of what you already paid for, or would you rather them be changed to what I suggested whether your compensated or not?

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Just a thought on varium pricing. (5/22/2011 0:58:42)

@above
i wld take the new prices but i wld consider past compensation a bonus
