Hidden Signatures

I would like to hide avatars and show signatures, but with "Don't Show member's Avatar in posts" checked, signatures are also hidden. If this is a bug of some sort, then I would like it to be fixed. If this is intentional, is it possible to edit the name of this option to clarify its function?

Just for the record, I made a post about this bug only four years ago, so probably not on the high-priority bug fix list...
