TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/29/2011 15:58:37)

I'll be wherever makes sense. Just keep in mind that Inaless and Salina don't have anyone between them.

Given her shields and the fact that she's completely covered in clothing from the neck down, Inaless has avoided most of the sand. Some got on her head because it went over the shield. It's raining, though, so I don't think the itching will last long. Agreed, Mirai?

The itching won't stop her from rune-scribing - you don't become a Monk of the Cipher without having a determined will and focus. It does mean, however, that she isn't retaliating with another laser beam. Effect of the triple-rune spell will be revealed next post, most likely. There's a logic to the runes, so you might be able to figure it out before I post it, though I doubt anyone's character has enough knowledge of the Cipher to read the spell beforehand, given it's a set of runes specific to her Order.

Oh yeah, and fair warning to all: I don't intend to wait any longer than three days between my own posts.

Mirai -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/29/2011 18:57:52)

Agreed TD- the rain should wash out the sand relatively quick.
I'm happy to call south.

Kellehendros -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/29/2011 19:33:51)

Goldstein, Post #11: You should be aware of a couple things. First off, there is no such thing as "stationary" when it comes to Sky. The entire Arena revolves, so even if you froze two of the stones together, the stones themselves will still be moving with the general flow of the Arena's revolutions. Secondly, while the ice might hold for a while, and even be built up a bit by the presence of the rain, it won't last forever. At some point the rain will start to melt the ice, and the bumping and grinding of stones against each other from the Arena's movement will also chip away at the bond. Just something to be aware of.

Goldstein -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/29/2011 21:22:01)

I apologize, I wasn't being very clear. In a way, I was trying to convey that Goldstein created a platform of sorts. The platform is still moving, but the rocks are moving in unison, so it's more stationary that standing on several different rocks all moving different directions. Also, the ice will of course eventually melt, but initially, the ice is going to be so cold, the rain will melt on contact. But remember, the ice is rather thin, so the rocks may break the ice if it doesn't melt first. I chose to omit that fact due to Doc being in such a state of focus, he overlooked that detail. To tell the truth, I was planning on having the ice break and basically totally unbalance Doc mid-battle. I'm sorry for any unclear things in my post.

The Dragon Knight -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/29/2011 22:53:18)

Leaving details out of your main posts is perfectly fine, Goldstein. It's just important to remember to specify them in the OOC thread so that there's no confusion. No worries!

Goldstein -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 10:42:39)

Whew! This is my first ever Championship, and I won't deny it, I'm a little worried that I'll make some painfully stupid mistake.

Mirai -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 15:01:50)

Continuing in Salina's theme of irritating, but non-lethal attacks, I present- blowing a whistle very loud! Based on known character positions, I'd assume it'll affect Inaless most, could potentially affect Jonathan a bit too, and will generally by an annoyance for everyone else.

Hmm, prompting a potential alliance of every other character in the arena against Salina might not have been my brightest idea...

Edit: "By" an annoyance? By an annoyance? What on earth is by an annoyance?

The Dragon Knight -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 16:16:22)

Well, Goldstein, seeing as this is your first EC, I suppose I'll try and provide you with a worthy opponent. However, until I can find one for you, I suppose I'll fill in. Henry's a very passive, happy individual, so engaging in a battle without a little howdy do is against his nature. Feel free to engage however you wish. I can work with it.

jerenda -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 16:18:53)

See Krey's posts in the Cellar arena for tips on how to best give every other character a reason to unite against you. =D

EDIT: Removed an odd bracket that appeared at the end of my post. Stupid brackets...

Goldstein -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 17:28:07)

Sorry about that TDK. I tried to be as polite as I could while initiating that fight. Just so you know, the ice isn't going to make the blade shatter if it breaks, the ice'll just sort of fall off.

Mirai -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 17:39:33)

Comedy genius- I love the Henry/Doc battle already...

demonhunter -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 18:40:47)

... "a bit"?

Jakkai have fairly sensitive ears (hardly surprising, given the size of them). I suspect temporary hearing loss will result.

And I'll post tomorrow. Looks like I'm left fighting our darkness competitor. Jonathan won't go for the metal man, and he'd rather not fight a troll.

N3344 -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (6/30/2011 20:41:37)

Post is now up.

Mirai: A boomerang is now aimed at you. It has spikes too. I also forgot to put the whistle into my post, sorry about that. Although, I dont think it would effect Cale that much since he doesnt have ears... Nonetheless, I will mention it in my next post.
Micosil: Cale is aimed at you. He has a sword.

Cant wait for this to continue!!

P.S. I am definitely going to enjoy the Doctor vs. The Food Critic battle. Its going to be interesting to see how that turns out.

TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/1/2011 15:27:19)

Kaboom. Or something like that. Given that Salina took the time to fish her earplugs out and put them in, Inaless took that time to finish the third rune. Now her whole body is shining really, really brightly.

If you've ever had the misfortune to have police car floodlights directed at you, or attempted to stare into stadium lighting right up close, you'll have a good idea of just how damn bright it is. In short, even if you can stand to look directly at her, you won't be able to make out where exactly her body is.

For the rest of you, as of the casting of her spell, Inaless is the brightest source of light in the arena. Every surface facing her is going to be bathed in white light, while any obstacle to the light (such as you) will cast a very long, sharp shadow. The glowing doesn't reach full force until a few seconds after the whistle starts, so there shouldn't be any timing issues there.

demonhunter -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/1/2011 21:01:26)

Jonathan is on the move. Clyde, he's headed your way.

The Dragon Knight -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/2/2011 15:29:21)

And Henry makes the counterattack. En garde!

Goldstein -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/2/2011 16:40:46)

Heads up Mirai, Doc is coming right at you, terrified and limping!

The Dragon Knight -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/2/2011 17:28:35)

Sooo, Mirai has a bald and more-or-less invisibly visible light mage, a sandy boomerang and a terrified and panicky doctor all heading that way. Interesting.

Mirai -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/2/2011 18:54:37)

Just giggled my way through the latest round of the Henry/Doc fight. Really enjoying that. Just hope I can keep Salina alive long enough for her to be involved in some way...

Anyway... Salina's now been hit by Cale's boomerang (she's got a bad bruise to her hip, but I assumed her spider-silk armour and the rain softening the weapon in flight would save her from worse harm), has got her eyes shut, is going to be seeing sunspots for a while even if the light spell ends, and is now attacking Inaless based as much on memory as anything else. She's also bruised her ankle, and all round is looking a touch vulnerable right now... I haven't referenced Doc running towards her, because I figured she's got plenty else to occupy her attention at the moment!

TD- I also haven't referenced Inaless hunkering down, partly because I wasn't sure just how low she was crouching, whether she'd moved from her standing position, etc., but more importantly because Salina herself wouldn't really have a clue. Having said all that, I think we could reasonably assume that at least a few of the 20 mithril shards (and 1 steel whistle!) will be heading towards Inaless (your call as to exactly how much). Once again, there's a second element to these attacks- the physical objects and the wind propelling them, which'll be pretty powerful in force at close range.

TormentedDragon -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/4/2011 9:13:17)

Fun stuff!

Note that my house is currently experiencing a power outage and I'm only able to type this and send it because my workplace ISN'T. Hopefully that'll be fixed today, but it has handily prevented me from getting anything up like I wanted to.

I hope to be able to post something tomorrow, or Wednesday.

Mirai -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/4/2011 12:40:06)

No probs TD- and thanks for the heads up. Hope your power cut is sorted soon.

The Dragon Knight -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/4/2011 16:04:15)

Hmm, decisions, decisions. Does Henry pursue the fleeing doctor, or does he turn to someone else. I need to figure that out.

N3344 -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/4/2011 17:38:53)

TDK I'll take you up on that offer. Cale hasnt really fought anyone, he's just thrown a boomerang haha. I am also looking for someone to fight if Micosil doesn't post soon.

Mirai: Did your attack spread across the whole arena or just at TDs character? And you made the boomerang do more damage than I intended. Cale was just trying to get her attention haha.

Mirai -> RE: =EC 2011= Sky Arena OOC (7/4/2011 19:00:53)

N3344- good question! I think the answer depends slightly on how Inaless reacts to the attack- she might wipe out the Shards en masse after all.

The shards were 'aimed' at TD's character, but given the randomness with which Salina's fired them, a barrage of them are almost certainly going to miss, and carry on flying- unless Inaless affects them first. Given Salina and Inaless are in the South East of the arena, I'd suggest that we could say that any remaining shards (plus potentially Salina's wind and whistle) would only be dangerous to characters in the East and North East.

Jonathan was originally in the East, but has now moved, so they might miss him completely by now (happy to make that Demonhunter's call).

That leaves North East, which is... Salina's boomerang flinging adversary Cale? In which case there would potentially be some shards (and some wind), heading in your direction N3344, depending a bit on how far Cale has moved now.
