Digital X -> Playing styles (7/10/2011 7:20:24)

There are two types of playing styles which we have in ED, basically offensive and defensive. Offensive being players with high STR or high SUPP and minimal placing on other stats to maximise damage output. Now this is a good way of doing damage to the opponent as you are able to deal a high amount of damage over a shorter time period as someone who plays defensively that has higher DEX/TECH in order to defend themselves better. Both these styles have pros and cons, which we all know about, but how much does that effect you? Are you one that plays defensively in order to survive longer and higher your chances of winning, or do you go for maximum damage in order to kill your opponent in the shortest time possible?

Fay Beeee -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 7:36:47)

And then there are also players which like to be offensive with a little defence if required.
atm I am the highest strength I have ever been. Even now I am not really really high strength.

T.600 -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 7:38:12)

It depends on the class I am, and the weapons available to me. I generally stick with a defensive style, and that's reflected in my very good win/loss ratio. At the moment, whoever is luckier wins the battle most of the time and the playing style doesn't seem to be making such a difference. This is only because of the new classes which brought balance issues, although I'm sure there will be plenty of balance alterations in the upcoming updates.

Heal loop was the mighty defensive build, although now it's probably a plain old five focus build.

There have been many famous offensive builds in Epicduel; there was the mighty strength bounty at first, then came the era of support mercs who loved to crit like crazy, next were the new era of bounty hunters which utilised shadow arts to its full extent, then came the strength mercs. Right now, there are a mix of these builds around and of course you will see the ocassional strength mage. Since the new Blood Mage class is focused on strength, I would guess that the strength mage would enter this gallery of offensive builds, that would be great since there haven't been any 'eras' of strength mages in Epicduel's history.

xX DeSTrUcToR Xx -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 9:02:08)

I'm usually a defensive player and heal a lot , using almost 2 health boosters every battle. [;)]

xxmirxx -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 10:54:04)

I am defensively type person in the game and I plan out my attacks. I learn that stlye from Shundraa and Fay beee and soni akhouri.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 11:00:06)

well i m more to a head on atk with full force type of player in ed. i like spamming 1 stat name me any stat and i had tried spamming almost all stats as a merc,bh or tech mage. spamming a stat is fun IMO.

Remorse -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 11:00:32)

And then their is mercs/ tac mercs, they are both combined in that their defences is the same thing providing them the offences. Yup , even the theory of mercs/ tac mercs is oped. Yet people are too blined to see it.

Monstrocon -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 11:08:55)

What to say... With my merc build (FC zerker) going offence does no dmg at all nowadays. Tanks, SA bounts and the like. I can do both, with my build I can do both.

My strategies:
Offence:
FC, zerker
3x double strike

Defence:
Heal, heal
Intimidate, heal

Both:
FC, Heal
Surgical, double strike (rage)

T29060 -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 12:16:06)

I'm doin Str build rite now but I like tank builds with decent attack pwr

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 12:32:51)

quote:

offensive and defensive

wrong there is 5 Focus and the others , the others are more fun , 5 focus is boring but has high def , high dmg , no requirements

edwardvulture -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 13:12:03)

4 turn Npc. Thats meh style.

DeathGuard -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 13:22:32)

My build depends on how many effective my moves are, I based on a medium support plus a balance def and res to contrast some tank builds :).

JariTheMighty -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 13:41:31)

I used to play more defensively during Beta/early Gamma times, but currently more offensive style feels more efficient playing style to me.

Drakadh -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 14:10:36)

Well You forgotten 1 Balanced or Well our Defensive and offensive ;P Thats my way/ Style in battling!

voidance -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 16:33:31)

All depends on what mood I'm in. I switch it up quiet regular to keep the game less boring. When I was a Merc some days I would do a overkill Support build, other days a overkill Str build, and some days a 5 Focus tank build. As a Mage I have many many builds to choose from such as Dex builds which would be considered tank, Str builds, Tech builds, and 5 Focus builds, but Support is a hard cookie to crack as a Blood Mage.

Angels Holocaust -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 16:59:00)

It's mainly +5 focus and that's it.

charwelly -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 17:00:02)

Right now i'm offensevie but here is my str and dex and tech

78 str (I think lol)
40 +35
40+33

So as you can see i'm not completely str i got some dex and tech

Dendavex -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 17:18:18)

@TurkisIncubus Dude 5 focus I said this to one of your post and will say it again
YOU have the right to do whatever you want with whatever own

Angels Holocaust -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 17:31:40)

@ Dendavex

We have the right to do whatever we want, BUT we are being put at a severe disadvantage, if I choose to use 150 hp I will pretty much lose to every build out there.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 17:48:54)

5 focus is the exception to your rule Digi its defencive in Nature but bot makes it offencive

Anyway im a defencive player but i use my skills(which increase in power as my defence increases) as my offence and it works unless im fighting a full varium 5 focus Tank

Digital X -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 18:07:01)

Ah yes, i did miss 5 Focus, which can be a combination of the two in some respect, (offence and defence)

HellsCupid -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 18:28:18)

My playing style is the so called, Bum Bum style ;)

Illuminator -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 19:35:42)

I tend to play more defensively, even if I am using a 5 focus build I like to make it more defensive than most others. Of course the more defensive you get with a build the stronger your robot gets. I've always preferred a more defensive fighting style, even in other games I tend to play more defense and wait for the right time to make my move or I just slowly whittle them down.

@Angels: True you are put an a disadvantage if you choose to use a build outside of the "norm", but if you don't care if you win or not then you can still do whatever you want. If you construct a 150 health build well then you could still win some battles, it just wouldn't be a whole lot.

The UnleaShedWolfZ -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 20:27:01)

Actually , 3/4 Of All My Time In ED , Was Like Playin In a Defensive Style. I Mean Ok.. As a Tech Mage , I Was a Heal Looper But Still "Defensive" Like 5 Times Heal + Matrix "70-80 Support , But Using It as a Defense."

Main Class : B.H. I Had an STR Build but.. 50 Str Not More.

And now.. After Hero > Commander Defensive Builds as a Tech Mage , I Decided To Use a Tactical Merc , With a High STR Build , But I'm Not So Comfortable With It :|

elm street -> RE: Playing styles (7/10/2011 20:37:58)

always been more deffensive even when i was a bounty [8D]
