Calogero -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 19:14:09)

Btw Cindy, Now that you are here, have you never thought about adding a new section to the ED section called ( Reports )?

Template could be like

Name:
Date:
Reason:
Screenshot:

I find the ' Report ' ingame a bit vague seeing we can't proof it, while on the forums there'd be more visual proof
(but then again I don't really know how the /report system works on your side of the screen)

Cinderella -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 19:17:08)

@andy123 the Artix Entertainment forums do not allow public accusations. You are to PM a moderator or The Lawman. I get bunches of reports every day.

MrBones -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 21:55:30)

@Jzaanu- it would be great to have a tutorial on how to be a decent human being in the game. The problem is making sure that the people who need to see it would see it.

Ain't that what parents and families are for ? How is the internet or a flash browser game responsible for raising childrens ? Maybe it is a way to express some anger they have..Who knows ? But it is not the buisness of anybody here in forums or in-game.

It is a lot nicer in-game than in real life. I talk with pretty much eveybody in-game and generally it's an ok conversation. I'd have to go with DeathSpawn point, with a name like Liz Vicious, you may expect people to be a little bit more rude to you. Your name strongly suggest you can take it.

Stabilis -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 23:08:29)

I can help some of these problems with 'kids' and 'activists' trying to be macho and mean. People are being mean to express themselves. They are expressing anger and depression. Try to be a good sport and comfort these people and give them your care. They will appreciate you and change.

Shadronica -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 23:51:50)

Let them take their anger elsewhere thanks. I don't pay money to be abused.

What some of you are forgetting is that this IS a game with a child rating on it!

Yes this is the internet with anonymity but none of us deserve to pay money for a "fun" game only to be abused.

Yes Liz has a name that suggests she can handle herself and undoubtedly I know she can but that doesn't mean that every nasty little critter needs to vent themselves on every person that looks like beating them.

Perhaps if they learned to treat players with respect then they will receive respect in return.

King FrostLich -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 23:56:42)

Well there goes everything. Bye Liz.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: That's it for me. (7/24/2011 23:57:45)

Mr Bones you are correct; Parents, Families and Friends should be a support base. Why can't Epic Duel or people/friends online. :)

Once these projects are completed, then everyone can state their opinion. For now, no one knows what is planned or how anything will be constructed.

Yo son -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 0:04:20)

I wonder what can put a player in such a bad mood? Crit*2, Block*5, Deflect; in one single match to one single player. Chances are, the player it happens to, probably wont be in such a good mood on his or her next battle.

Unless ur a TLM, Merc or BH; chance are your going to get pissed off twice or more during the day; If your a TLM or Merc chance are, most people are already pissed at you.

The sportsmanship in ED has dropped so much over the past couple of months; like literally a 75 percent drop. You really cant blame they players that act in such manners some of the times; when games are determined by Luck, and one or 2 classes have all the power, things like this are bound to happen.

But most of the time, some players do it just to do it.

Anyways, we are gonna miss you, soon it will be beta phrase turns to leave.

Hun Kingq -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 0:45:11)

It is pretty sad that people want to quit over what others say in the game, all they are is a bunch of bullies and if you quit then they win. If they start cursing you or trying to degrade you in battle then beat them down and win the match.

When I go into battle I don't even pay attention to the chat because I am focused on one thing, the battle, and alot of you faced me in battle or been with me in battle knows I don't chat or wish to chat because battles are for fighting not for chatting.

Vast majority of them were mercs but now more are tactical mercs and because of the things the programmers gave to that class just empowered those type of players even more so if they want to curtail it then use real diminishing returns on everything to take away that power(this is just an example), from the bots to the skills, if tech is above a certain amount then the bots punches and laser is reduced by 75% same with strength and support and you will see less disrespectful behavior because they will be beat down too much.

How people behave in the game is a reflection of them in real life.

So Liz Vicious don't let the bullies win by leaving the game.

Sipping Cider -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 0:59:19)

I say the higher level players that are well behaved should ban together and explore the highly populated new player areas (yes, that might mean leaving our safe oz world 6) and show an example on how to behave. When these people act the way they do and no one tries to stop them, or only one person (the person they are fighting) does then they continue to act they way they do. If a super cool looking level 33 with tons of achievements, stars, and all that stuff were to say something nice in front of a crowd of low level beginners and all his/her level 33 buds were to congratulate him/her then i think it would help the community. In addition, if a group of people that are influential in the game were to all agree to respond a certain way to flaming (eg. always say healing is pro when someone calls you a noob for healing) then the flamers would always get the same response when doing their flaming and possibly stop.

This might be a little confusing, but basically what i am saying is if the well behaved community were to work together to stop the put downs, insults, and degrading then i think it could make a difference.

State Alchemist -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 1:15:15)

As for an IP ban, it can be done in the future

As more and more people go to IPv6 it will make it easier.

Part of the IPv6 componet is the computer MAC address which is uniqueto the computer. As such it will be possible to put more effective bans in place.
For now though until IPv6 gets implemented more it won't work.

Also when ISPs use a IPv4 to IPv6 conversion it would have a bad consequence in regards to banning.

So therefore until IPv6 is all native and no NAT or dual stacking takes place it can't be done effectively

Ashari -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 2:10:45)

@State Alchemist: I won't pretend to know much about IPv6 but people have always found a way around bans, even IP ones. Moderators can only do so much to prevent this type of behavior - as was said chat locks and bans are all after-the-fact.

What needs to be done needs to be much more preventative and something like that can only come from the community itself, not some authority telling players to behave... That type of discipline only works when there is someone around to watch constantly and as soon as they're given the chance players go back to their old behavior.

A lot of players are just angry because they are frustrated. They've been on a losing streak or need help and there's no one helping them. Lots of new, younger players wander ingame and veteran players just brush them off. If others just promote behavior like that, then the chances of the community improving are slim.

Sorry to see you go over this Liz, but just like any game there will always be a bad bunch that seek only to hurt everyone elses experience. I guess we all just have to play our parts in making the community better to counteract that negativity. :)

Shadronica -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 6:22:00)

Very few veterans left in the game Ashari.

EpicDuel provides little incentive for players to stay with it as good suggestions that have been put forward are ignored, the game costs far too much to obtain rares now ($50 varium packs especially when the USA economy is looking grim), the luck factor has not been addressed so skill is no longer a large prerequisite, balance gets further from being balanced with each and every move that Titan and Nightwraith make, the ED developers have allowed favoritism in the game ... examples are - allowing the moderators to use their "privileges" to gain World Dominations and Rarity Board leaderships and other world records therefore usurping the paying customer of these.
Also they prefer to keep the new players happy even at the expense of veterans.

Asking the few veterans left in this game to monitor behaviour is not a solution.

Artix has shown little regard for this game and his paying customers have been burned.

It is not the responsibility of the few remaining veterans to look after EpicDuel as well as pay premium prices to have the privilege of playing.

I am sad to see a game that showed so much promise at the start decompose the way it has.

I am reluctant to let it go as I have invested so much time and money into EpicDuel as has so very many others.

I still live in hope that one day Titan, Nightwraith and Artix will see the light. I will pray for that day.

comicalbike -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 7:26:27)

shadronica all that you have said is so true at the moment with a ression on they are lucky to have any players at all

Cinderella -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 11:17:53)

I want to address one thing. All staff, including moderators are banned from the following leaderboards:

All Time Fame
All Time Rarity
All Time War Kills
Daily War Kills
Daily Fame

I'll also point out that I do use some unenhanced, outdated, nonrare, and even nonvarium gear even though I'm staff because I don't like taking advantage of the position. I'll admit I use the delta weapons (because I love shrinking people, and they're in purple- my favorite color!), but I'll play with the nonvarium suggestion shop weapons sometimes too. I'm a Cyber Hunter. And I do pretty well. You don't have to be constantly paying to remain competitive.

Some of the "luck" factors are to give lower-level characters a fighting chance. Who here can honestly say they haven't beaten a higher-level character because of a clutch block or lucky crit?

I'm not asking the veterans to monitor behavior. Technically, since we do more punishment after the fact, it's the player's responsibility to monitor his or her own behavior (personal responsibility... what a concept!) Unfortunately, many people (young people and adults alike) lack the ability to police themselves.

I honestly have some ideas on how to improve the game on that level, but I don't want to say them because coming from one of the main staff it sounds like an announcement.

I agree. But at this point what else are we going to do? There are no options if, if we want to have a good community, if we want action... We, the few good ones left, have to act.

Recruiting people to the cause, is just something we will have to do ourselves.

Tiago X -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 11:52:06)

Yay, someone joined me in the we-no-play-games-with-immature-kids-on-them club :3
Anyway , it's always sad to see someone go. :l

Deimos... -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 12:08:19)

Sorry Liz, to see you go. I agree Ed is the rudest game I ever played. In the current game I am playing, has a trading system which helps ALOT. Everyone is nice to me. You can ask for help by " shouting" and immediately someone "whisper"s you telling
You the answer to your question.

I wanna continue how great this game is, but maybe another time, I gotta do some PvE, PvP, PK people, quest, trade, auction houses, sell things for money, on the new game I play, aika.

Hun Kingq -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 17:37:00)

One thing that they could do is put an ignore chat check box that way you can ignore the chat like on other gaming sites.

I am one of the IEEE members that gave the final go ahead of IPv6 when I see a person trying to explain how it works some things they say are correct but other things they say are incorrect but for people to have a little more insite here is a website:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv6_address

So Liz if you let these kind of people chase you away in the game what will you do in the world because there is millions of them out there and if so weakness and back down all the time they will always push you around. So be strong and stay.

Shadronica -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 18:58:47)

Cinderella you have always been one of the honest and fair moderators and that is why we all regard you highly.

The moderators have only recently been told they are exempt from being on those leaderboards but its too late the damage has already been done previously. I know that Goony was at least one of the players that questioned Titan and Nightwraith about allowing the exploitation to continue and I am glad that we have players that will take the dev's to task to keep things honest and fair. Anyway it is water under the bridge now but I used it because it is one of the many mistakes that our young dev's have made.

The luck factor is ludicrously random and far too prevalent. It disrupts the flow of play and causes aggravation. We should not have to tolerate blocks from players that have little dex or be crit hit by someone with low support but more than that the "luck factor" should only be a "one off once in a while" statistic, not the "you are doomed" factor.

Lower level players need to learn to cut their teeth the way I did every time I logged into 1v1 Testbuild was waiting for me. I was sure he had a sign that said "noob waiting in 1v1 to be smashed". AND at this point I would like to explain the term "noob". A noob is a person who is relatively new to a game. So for the players who insist on calling veterans noobs it only proves how foolish and ignorant that YOU are.

I do understand that we can get by without buying the latest gear Cindy however, most of us who play this PvP game are rather competitive so the latest gear is needed to have any "edge" over opponents. Artix quickly realised that a big opportunity to make quick bucks from us wasn't difficult at all. Everyone wants an "edge" if they are aggressively competitive. Lets face it ... the game is about winning PvP right? Yes I love the friends I have made here but they can't fight my battles.

Now as to the behaviour of the community I am quite capable of putting most players back on their leashes but some are "over the top". Apparently the community problem has been getting bad again and I do not think that we should be subjected to constant abuse. I know that Elf Priest Jzaanu has an idea for a vid and it seems you have an idea too Cindy so I am hoping we can get some resemblance of a half decent community again.

I still think we need a chat safe server that at least us adults can go to so we don't have to listen to rubbish talk.

Liz Vicious -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 20:13:13)

Thank you for your kind words and sentiments (I will be visiting the forum sporadically as you can see) There much appreciated :) I will miss randomly bumping into a lot of you as I will miss visits to friends when their online. I will miss those exchanges with Fay whenever I saw her, being a fellow brit I could ask her if she was having a good bank holiday weekend (public holiday) Etc. To sum up, I will miss the positive sides of this community.
Prior to my present teaching position I worked with troubled teenagers in a secure unit. I'm trained in various restraining holds that you apply when their angry and trying to punch/kick/spit at you whilst coming out with every swear word known to man. Believe me, a little online rudeness is nothing. Water off the proverbial ducks back. Sounds hypocritical? Not really, It happened every time I logged on. I began to feel like a digital masochist so, that's why I've given up, for now anyway.

@Cinderella loved the Sartre referenced analogy. Here is something Aldous Huxley said about Ignorance: "Most ignorance is evincible ignorance. We don't know because we don't want to know". That sadly applies to a lot of the Juvenile behavior being discussed in this topic.

If this were some social experiment (which of course it is, all online communities are) then you might arguably have to conclude that it's created an environment akin to a online lord of the flies. I'm still very interested to see were this game progresses, so you will certainly have more of my input on here. I would just like to say, I didn't intend to start a debate, perhaps on reflection I should of just said 'Not going to be playing anymore, bye!' and left it at that......

Sageofpeace -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 20:27:46)

i don't really care but i wish i had a ignore bottom so i wouln't had to see anything that their writing i probably had the ignore chat bottom all the time unless i see somebody i usually talk

Wraith -> RE: That's it for me. (7/25/2011 21:56:08)

Cinderella the issue with self - policing is that some of the new 9/10/11 year-olds can't restrain themselves.

dj.sammy.b -> RE: That's it for me. (7/27/2011 4:55:46)

Here, here Liz!

I am so sick and tired of logging into epicduel everyday, and being harassed and being called names especially by the "superiors".
It's getting beyond ridiculous, and I've reported them before, but nothing happens.
It feels like you mods and admins just don't care about us anymore.
Also, I've reported several characters because of them using each others accounts and the best you could do was a three day ban?
LISTEN carefully here mods, I have had so much of this name calling, bullying, teasing that I am considering taking legal action on this unecessary cyber bullying. As the owners/creators of this game, it is your duty of care, to protect every player, equally and fairly.

GreatWarrior08 -> RE: That's it for me. (7/27/2011 5:33:03)

@ dj.sammy.b

Dj there is At least 1Million + Players And at least 450k+ Reports everyday They Cant manage to do everything And i knw and I bet that Mods do Feel sorry and does give Second chances and give only 3 days ban so that they can improve on there action i might not no much But this is Just my opinion I get teased and Bullied I am a Girl and i play as a guy i get called all these Bisexual even a Lez. Do i care No. I report them and hope that they can improve on there behavior there are a;ot of 11 and lower aged kids who lear these words and use them in game.
