DunkThatOreo -> Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 11:42:13)

Can someone please tell me why people with 50-60 dex keep blocking me 2 or 3 times in a row
when I have 91 dex and plus I use smoke screen on them? Ive lost to about 20 tact mercs
that I shuldve beaten today because of 2-3 blocks ina row when i had more dex then them.
Like this one fight today this lvl 28 mage had 34 dex, my smoke does-35 yet he blocked 2 times in
a row???This seriously needs to be fixed like now!

Dunk I am sure someone will explain it.
Just to say that they do not allow ALL CAPS title.
Hope you get the answer you want, even if it is not what you wanted to hear.

Good Luck

wow that cap change was quick LOL

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 11:47:09)

oh sorry didn't know lol

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:06:55)

quote:

Block is calculated by adding the block chance adjustment to the default block chance (currently 10%).
Block chance = 10% + Block Chance Adjustment
The chance to block can never be less than 4% The chance to block can never be more than 45%

took this from the wiki page linked below. at worst, they have a 4% chance to block every time someone uses a melee attack like strike, smoke, robot etc.
its like rolling a 100 sided dice [percentage dice] and getting 1-4 twice in a row. Its really not that improbable.

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:11:37)

So uhm a person with 0 dex and me 91 dex can just block 2-3 times in a row and thats..normal?

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:16:26)

yes. a lot of people complain about blocks, crits and deflections, but its what gives each fight that unique feel.
if you didnt have them, every build would do exactly what it should and most fights would be so predictable.

also it seems lower levels get an increased chance to block, crit and deflect, which gives them a chance in a fight they would lose 100% otherwise.

sylar67 -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:16:42)

if the minimum is 4/100 then maybe you got 3 in a row and after 93 non blocks you get 1 block xD

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:20:59)

Sylar. unfortunately thats not how it works :P

every strike has a new roll. so in theory you could roll 1-4 10000 times in a row and always block. law of averages says it evens out though [stupid law]

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:22:50)

No I dont mind blocks and crits and deflections but when it continuosly happens every fight over and over it
gets really frustrating and annoying.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:26:07)

Dunkthatoreo can you link me a screenshot of your build ?

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:28:07)

Uhh sorry no I cant screenshot lol but I can just tell u in word form xD

Str:47+40
Dex:60+31
tech:34+20
Sup:25+16
Max smoke
Max bl
Max reflex boost
1 massacre
1 SA
1 emp

DeathSpawn -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:54:57)

Yep just gave up my str build because of this garbage.

Now I myself have also explained the 4% deal as well but the way it's been recently is absurd.

Only way to not get blocked is to not strike :)

ajs777 -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 12:57:09)

lolz..... i block 4-5 times a match, of course i have max SA and 106 dex.... and then the +41 dex on reflex boost helps.....

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 13:19:24)

Ok this is just impossible I was in a fight with digital he blocked me 3 times in a row
then 2 turns later he blocked me 3 times in a row WTF!

VIX -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 14:18:17)

The Block % Should be balanced.

-VIX

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 16:31:30)

maybe something got broken in the recent updates. or maybe its just a ton of 1-4/100 rolls against you :P

edwardvulture -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 17:28:32)

Curse of the strength tact merc

Lectrix -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 17:32:53)

It's most likely just a matter of bad luck if someone with less Dexterity is Blocking you. Higher amounts of Dexterity do not guarantee that your opponents will not Block you; the chance is merely reduced.

King FrostLich -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 19:11:46)

I think he fell for the 15 second statement.

goldslayer1 -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 20:24:19)

dude i got blocked 8 times by a freaking newb lvl 28 and lost because of all the blocks.
its pathetic how its just mostly down right luck

Shadronica -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 20:25:13)

Step right up to the wonderful world of EpicDuel where every child player wins a prize regardless of skill.

The game lost the plot when it gave anyone and everyone a chance to win any battle apart from the latest OP class/build.

Someone in one of the above posts seems to think that having a build that works the way its supposed to isn't good??!!! *facepalm* Just shows how conditioned some of the newer players are to tolerating randomness. Well done ED your job is nearly done. You just need to rid yourselves of the last few remaining players that remember how the game/battles should be.

rej -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 20:49:04)

45%.... O.O
i could've sworn the dev's nerfed the base block chance to 5% last year....

goldslayer1 -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 21:35:46)

@rej
no i remeber it was reducing the highest % of block by 5%
this was because BH was getting shadow arts a month or so after

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 23:19:00)

Well what's the point by using smoke screen then if you still get blocked twice a battle?

Giras Wolfe -> RE: Why so much Blocking?! (7/30/2011 23:50:52)

'it happens.
