Giras Wolfe -> RE: Enhancements my thoughts (8/1/2011 23:59:21)

Another problem here is that we used to be paying varium for a visual improvement and power improvement. Since there is no graphical update to the item, you're paying directly for the stats. Considering that, it makes no sense that enhancements generally cost more than the item itself. Pragmatically speaking, its too late to remove enhancements entirely. Also, our developers are too cautious to do anything that extreme. But a drastic price reduction is clearly in order. I'm thinking along the lines of 1,000 varium for a full ten slot item: # of stats - varium price 1 - 25 2- 25 3 - 50 4 - 50 5- 100 6 - 100 7 - 125 8 - 150 9 - 175 10 - 200 Total: 10 Stats - 1,000 varium The credit price would be calculated by the same varium to credit ratio in the current enhancement system. I acknowledge the concept of having uber, max-tier items like the delta weapons that have extra potential to tap, so I have tapered the prices to be mainly on the last four slots. However, six or less slots on an item should be very easy buying, so you can have a wide variety of competent weapons for only an extra 350 varium. Another way to work towards easing this problem is releasing items with consistently fewer slots. 8 slots should only be for special items, and 10 for VERY special items. (Speaking of which, whatever happened to non-rares?) Refunding the players who already paid above this? I wouldn't mind swallowing the cost, but I'm sure it would make a lot of people angry, so you might want to try to reimburse us. (On second thought, varium sellback didn't seem to make anyone angry, even though a lot of us had already given up and sold varium items for credits only. Maybe as a community we're mature enough not to get mad over losing a bit of varium value in the interest of better varium value on future purchases and long-run balance?) Any supporters?
