Titan recently announced that tournaments are going to be introduced again and hopefully this time it will come to fruition.

In my opinion, this will bring the whole game together and is fundamental to the game going forward and how it is implemented is paramount to the ongoing game development. I'd like to see them, the tournaments, called Epic Wars and involve both players and factions being ranked.

If it is done using brackets, based on timezones, then this will be great! These Epic War events will need to be based over a period of time and I guess that it would make sense that it based on summer, autumn etc... So 4 Epic War tournaments per year!

Players and factions could join a division and battle other players/faction. Winning the division would mean going to a higher division with the ultimate aim being to get to division 1 and then proceeding to the playoffs between the brackets and winning the playoffs to get the title as the best player/faction in Epic Duel. Coming last in a division would mean being relegated to a lower division...

Hopefully the system will enable a Epic Duel wide player ranking... So many possibilities and it is great to see that it is on the agenda of things to be implemented again :)

The possibilities are very open. Factions/Individuals could be divided in many ways for this tournament. It would be a great way to bond as a community. If regionalization happened for factions, this would carry a great step for all lower factions in same region. They can support the higher ones and the higher ones can assist the lower ones in improvements.

Very exciting step.

If this is done correctly it will open worlds for ED development you could over up rare gear to people who place so well in a tournament, you could let players create their own epic wars so they can see who really is the best of their buddies, or they could just make a huge leaderboard showing your world ranking

even if they make in time, it will have to get tested by making a new sever or a cheaper way of making varium for the 2 weeks (guess which one titan will pick O.O).

@ ur going to fail, don't bring other baggage into this discussion, having a stab at Titan by alluding to varium pricing has absolutely nothing to do with ahat we are talking about here...

I hadn't thought about creating your own tournament OWA, the possibilities are almost endless and I am genuinely happy to see that it is something the developers are working towards.

This idea could well give the game some good interest if it is handled correctly.

Yes Jzaanu it could also bond the community as well.

Yes it could also serve a purpose once more for our factions too.

I do hope that some good thought will be put into the tournaments to make it exciting.

I am totally in favor of tournaments, 1v1 and 2v2(that way you could totally choose your partner).

While 1 giant one would be nice, I think it would be really awsome to see class specific tournies (Bh against BH only) and then comparing them to there evolved class ( the top 5 bhs go against the top 5 CHs EPIC) then the top BH and top CH would go into a grand 6 tourny where the top player of each class would go out on each other, they would each face each 5 opponents, then the top 5 winners would go again, then the top 3, then the final 2 against each other in a caticlismic showdown... of doom. <---aw man, something like that would have to be seen by everyone XD

I want tournaments but not soon. I personally feel that the classes need balanced first and that the gap between paying and non paying needs to close up some before they get added in and I know that many will agree with at least the classes getting balanced first. If they don't then I can already see the forums complaining that Tournaments were made only to encourage players to switch to the best class and buy the best gear in order to win the tournament.

I honestly think that tournaments can wait because balance atm is extremely bad. Crits do way too much damage, it doesn't just affect the game, it wins games. Blocks are also another deciding factor in matches. As for creativity, there's only one dominant build in the game and that's strength. Everyone has 95 hp and 1 crit would be devastating. I for one would like to see tournaments implemented into the game after balance has been restored.

I agree, Tournaments can wait. However, I really want them to happen. I think there should different types of tournaments all the time.

Once-in-a-while tournaments that happen only a few times a year with item prizes such as bikes, home items, weapons, or armor.

Once-a-week tournaments that happen once a week with an achievement for a prize

One-a-day tournaments that happen every day and there is a prize of either credits, varium, or battle tokens.

Great, another thread that's turning into a balance debate :(

OK, let's agree the game needs to be balanced... This is going to be an ongoing discussion, tournaments are going to be introduced and you want to put it off for what? Balance... Hahaa... Good luck with that, as soon as they balance the game Angels you will complain that you are no longer overpowered. There is no win-win in balance, it always has an offset and as such there will never be total balance unless you implement the changes suggested by Xendran...

So, that's it for balance!

Let's not make an agenda to delay the implementation of what I believe to be the best thing to come to Epic Duel since... ummm... forever :)

I would just like to see Titan and Nightwraith really think out the tournament idea before they release it haphazardly and duck for cover it its not working.

I would truly like to see the tournaments treated with dignity and respect and not a riot.

Good question, it can look many different ways. I would imagine it to look something like this:

You go to an NPC and click sign up for next tournament. Then, there is a little clock on the screen that ticks away till the next tournament. When the time comes, you get taken to a battle against another person in the tournament. If you lose that battle, you are out of the tournament. If you win, you fight someone else in the tournament until there is only one winner left.

Cause I rally hate fighting guys who has an advantage of over 10 lvls xD

Well Titan has said it will be bracketed. That means there will be different tournaments for maybe different timezones, classes, alignment, factions etc...

We don't know exactly what it will look like. It might be like NFL with two or more conferences that play games for ladder position in various divisions to make finals and then have a playoff between the conference winners at the end. Or, it might be like a tennis grand slam with players seeded based on rank and then they take part in a 64 game elimination style tournament... So many ways it could work, perhaps Titan can tell Cinderella what he is thinking of implementing :p He could also take part in the discussion ;)

G00NY, I would agree. It would be wonderful if the developers would share hopeful thoughts. To have new and fresh ideas will bring some community enthusiasm. We see the same redundant types of threads, and though all points are valid, it would be great to see some light of what the developers wish in evolvement.

I also hope that what ever the developers do express, it is not something that will be pestered by the community, as if, it was written in stone.

I would also love to see the Devs join in on discussions, especially this one. However, in the long run I know I prefer to have the Devs working on the game with coding, testing, and drawing.

this new mode should bring a higher credit pay out (AT LEAST 3k credits for the winner of a 20 man tournament). anything to end every1 to complaining about varium players having to much of a advantage (every1 having more credits means people get to have more enhancements on their weapons, also this will either raise credit prices or make battle tokens part of missions to get new, better weapons, etc.)

^Crikey, just battle more and you will get more than enough credits... lol, it's a feature not a mode and existing battle modes will be used in this feature so pricing is not an issue :/
Unless you are talking about prizes or entrance fees and at this stage that is a bit preemptive!

@JZ and theSunguardian, this feature is massive and will impact on the game at all levels!

While agree, it is better for the devs to work :) More coffee?

Titans started this discussion and I think it's only fair that since it he said it was coming he could tell us a bit about it so that we are aware of what is going to happen which would then lead to some form of consensus...

First off balance first. Once balanced Fill all other "broken promises" Like any thing you told us but didnt give it to us. Then you may work on new features. Then Please Make sure you fulfill those promises then you may work on a new set of features. Even if it takes a year (thats how much it normally takes) you better dp the the stuff

You are all lame!

Angels asked me today why I was posting on the forums again. It was because I was happy to see it announced that a long awaited feature (for me)was actually being implemented at some stage in the future!

Where does it say in my post that I want this implemented right now before anything else?
There is a freaking balance team working on balance, why do you have to invade a discussion about new features with balance issues?

Discuss the feature, I could give you 3000 links to threads about balance... Meh, no bloody wonder why the devs steer clear of the forums, waste of time and effort...

If all you care about in this game is balance, I'll give you a tip, I have played for a while now and at no stage has there ever been total balance...

BTW, don't expect this feature anytime soon as it is still being thought about how it will work.

Learnt my lesson again, have fun and take care!
