@Nexus The whole thing sounds illogical to me. It took you mere minutes to disassemble the game then reassemble it yet it takes you two weeks worth to add one major update. -_-

sylar67 -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 15:40:58)

2 weeks ? :O you mean 2 months ....

Retrosaur -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 15:42:42)

Isiah
Nobody mentioned how long it took to take "apart" the game. Taking apart the game can take a long time, or a short time, but no one has officially confirmed the time it took to take it apart.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 15:54:53)

@hypedxlord I really dont care about how hard it takes to debugg. The fact is they said a release time and it didnt happen. This happen a dozen times. Case closed.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 15:57:02)

@Nexus no changes made in coding affects teh live servers until they are added to the live servers thats why we see nothing thats happeneing on the test server

Charfade -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 15:58:07)

Think about it this way, ED had a lot of gunk and dirt in it before. So Titan took it apart and started to clean it out tying while trying to solve the adobe lag issue. Then Adobe the patch came out and even though it solved 90% of the problems, we still had a half way cleaned up game. The new content was in this version he was working on. If we reverted back to the old back up files of ED we would not only have to put in all the new content that has been added since the last release... much of the nice new polish stuff would still have to be put back in future release. And after being half way with it already... redoing it just didn't seem logical in saving any amount in time. So its not as simple as just reverting back to an old file for sake of time. In the end we decided to push forward with the game clean up. Since just about every button was replaced, testers had a lot to test and break and test again. That's were everyone was at last night for the most part.

PowerMega -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 15:58:21)

Actually it just hit me, Nexus brings up a good point.

If it's true that Titan had to disassemble the game first and is trying to put it back together, why didnt he make a duplicate of the original before taking it apart?

Like does that make sense to anyone else here?

You dont need a vast education to understand something does sound fishy here, because even going waaay back to elementary school, your taught to always make a duplicate of your work when done on the compter(whether it be mircrosoft word, ect) when your making vast changes.

So why wasn't a copy created before being dissembled?

Edit-

Partiallly disregard what I said, Charfade posted around the same time as me and she makes a good point on the other minor updates that have been released since then....but...why wasnt a copy made once this whole Adobe fiasco started?

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:00:54)

Power its possible you were ninja'ed by Charfade she explained the point of not making the backup

PowerMega -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:02:42)

Yea, we posted around the same time.[8D]

Quite funny actually. haha

EDIT-

I guess this a lesson learned, next time make a copy of the game before dissembling.

Basicball -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:09:26)

i'm gonne love the new buttons :D

Ashari -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:16:41)

@PowerMega: No one is saying there aren't backups of the game Power, it's just that Titan put in a weeks worth of work making improvements and cleaning up the interface. Although Adobe solved the graphic lag problem, these improvements are still going to be useful in the future.

Right now you might just see that the buttons being moved around and looking slightly different, but behind that Titan made a ton of progress in what can be done with the interface in the future. Throwing away all that work now would be a big waste.

PowerMega -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:24:28)

@Ashari

I get what your saying and respect that, but there is one thing I disagree in that statement regarding time.

The update was supposedly ready last Friday and the Adobe problem was the main issue. So If a backup copy was made at that time it would have shorten the time needed to to get the update ready is all I'm really saying.

Charfade -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:27:20)

^^ O_o you know ED isn't a word doc right?

zelemania -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:27:30)

An approximate hour for the update would be helpful as its passing midnight here in Europe...

voidance -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:33:43)

Yea a Estimated time would be nice, Doesn't have to be perfect but something like 7-10PM EST so I don't have to camp the Forums/Twitter for information on the release time.

Algorithm -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:36:13)

Lol, you'd have to be one idiotic flash game programmer if you didn't save back up files...

PowerMega -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:36:14)

@Charfade

I know it's not a Word Doc and I may be just assuming considering its a flash based game, this game isnt horrendously big as compared to a game you download to play , so the time to make a copy of this type of game shouldn't take too long.

BloodRainbow -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:43:02)

@ voidence and others with similar posts

I'm predicting a... *summons the guidance of the mischievious time faeries* 9-10 PM EST release time.

as you can see here NW did was you guys are askin. but he did not say the release will definatlly be here at 9-10 EST.
hes is saying that if everything goes right the release might be here at (insert time)

everyone just needs to relax a bit just cuz the release isnt here its not the end of the world. im not saying im not irritated by the delay too, but when you got 100 people complaining about the same thing it just becomes pointless. the devs know that everyone is upset by the delay. just remain calm. it will eventualy be here, they are currently taking time off of there weekend to try to get the release done, a bit of appreciation would be nice

@ power and algorithm

No one is saying there aren't backups of the game

do you guys even read the posts?

CivicChaos -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:44:21)

Hey its the end of the world for some people ya know...
I mean atleast 1 person passes away that plays AE games....
Just saying that it makes me cry when you say that.

voidance -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:47:43)

I just want to know if its gonna be in 1-3 hours or 7-10 hours, unlike some I have things I would like to do besides sitting here waiting for the update with no clue AT ALL when its gonna be. I stayed logged in yesterday from 11:00AM till 4:30AM this morning just to find out it was being delayed. I don't want another night like that so if they say " I'm not making any promises but i assume we will be done at such time so be ready at such time" Idc if its 2:00AM in the morning as long as I know sometime in advance.

BloodRainbow -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:50:35)

ok.. i get what ur saying... if its gana be delayed and they know it, it would be nice if they said something to let us know... right?

Algorithm -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:51:17)

BloodRainbow:I always read the post ;), I was stating my opinion.

voidance -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 16:53:28)

Indeed, I don't get mad because they delay a update, I get mad because they delay a update and don't tell us till the last minute. Yes sometimes a last minute problem comes up but 99% of the time they will know if there is a good chance it will be delayed hours b4 they post a message that its being delayed.

PowerMega -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 17:00:11)

@BloodRainbow

I read the post, but you clearly haven't been reading what's been going on within my exchange with the devs. I agreed with everything they said except for the argument on time.

I agreed with everything she wrote except the bolded section because the update was ready last Friday except the Adobe problem was preventing them from putting it up.

My argument afterwards was that if they had made a copy of Fridays update before continuing, it would have shortened the time, that's all. Simple constructive criticism.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= August 26th Design Notes: New Old Fortune City RELEASE IS LIVE! (8/27/2011 17:08:22)

@Power Titan had to take ED apart to fix teh adobe problem so he also started to clean it up from what i gather and Adobe fixxed the graphic error but Titan just keep on cleaning which could reduce lag for some players and make teh game even smoother for others
