Bu Kek Siansu -> Some tips due to any delayed release/update (8/27/2011 5:44:58)

Some tips due to any delayed release/update.

My tips:
1. Pick up more Team members to help out like in-game Staff members, Testers etc.
2. Plan for a new release at least 1 month early.
3. In about 2 weeks working on it.
4. The Testers will have 1 week time to test it.
5. Make sure it's ready 1 week early before adding the Design Notes to prevent any delayed release/update.

  • I'm sorry if I made a mistake due to my tips above or anything else. Just let me know, I'll fix it. Thanks! :p

  • Any tips? :)

  • Feel free to discuss! :D

Rule: Please do not ask anything because a release is delayed or to compensate any delayed release/update.
Otherwise this thread will just be deleted like this:

The message you posted in EpicDuel General Discussion (http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tt.asp?forumid=296),
titled: " Your thoughts and/or opinions due to the delays" has been deleted.
Reason:Begging for benefits just because a release is delayed is not acceptable forum conduct.

Again, I apologize if I'm not supposed/allowed to create this topic/thread here. Thanks! ^_^

You right the only thing they need to do is , doing the update 1 week early ,

like week 1 / week 2 / week 3 , release week 1 's update at week 2 and release week 2 's update at week 3 so you can release them in perfect time without delay.

    Devs lack of planning future

I think players already suggest new ideas. Right?[>:]

Basicball -> RE: Some tips due to any delayed release/update (8/27/2011 7:46:17)

yup, just dont give us updates for 1 and a half month, then start giving us weekly updates, that were already ready ;)

Drakadh -> RE: Some tips due to any delayed release/update (8/27/2011 7:57:50)

Well, Idk how Flash Games work, but would it be better if he had 2 files? 1 he rips apart and finds the problem, and the other file he'll just adjust/edit?

Just an Idea. Can any mod answer back?

I like this post, because it offers good feedback and constructive ways to improve the flow of releases. This would be a great option when the team brings on another coder, Titan could develop new updates a week ahead of time, and the testers could test them for an entire week while the new coder fix's any issues, and finally updates the live servers with the release. I think it's a good idea, the only problem is that currently Titan is the only one coding ED.

Still this is something that could be considered in the future.

Thanks for trying to help. :3

    my quote from other thread

    quote:

    @Wiseman

Pls do the thing i will say to stop this ridiculous stuation.
    How updates should done:

1)Dont set a date before you are sure you can update 100% , you can give pics - details about update but dont give time like Friday 9-10 EST
2)When Update is ready dont release it in the second you finish, wait and set a date and announce it in Design Notes , 1 day after is perfect time.

The problems if you dont do this way (which is the part i most annoy and get sick of):

When you give time about the update , you force us to wait till that hour maybe there can be no problem doing different things while waiting update in US time zone but when you say 9-10 EST + Limited Items , it makes huge problem for me , first , at 9-10 EST (which is 4-5 AM at my country) I cant watch tv , read book or go outside , i just need to wait the update because there is no specific time when Devs gonna release they can release it in any seconds which is ridiculous and can cause me to not buy limited items.

Second , Devs make me wait till 4-5AM and still there is no update , after 18:00 in US Devs shouldnt release anything , there is alot ppl playing this game in Europe and Middle East at after 18:00 at US it become too late for us there is alot of young players playing this game and cant stand awake til 4-5 AM , so if the update is not ready at 18:00 at US just send a small tweet that saying you delayed the update to next day or next week so we can go to our beds and have a good sleep.

Wiseman -> RE: Some tips due to any delayed release/update (8/27/2011 9:25:32)

That could work to, I'm not a fan of announcing specific times, I've always liked "When it's ready O-Clock" because that shows that we will not release until we are 100% sure that the release is ready. People come to expect weekly releases from the developers, however with such a small team, it is very hard to manage a release each week. Though maybe the developers should start doing double releases, (small sub-releases on Fridays and then the main release when its ready). The bottom line is, the communication needs to improve and/or the situation needs a better understanding from both parties. Players shouldn't expect a release to always be on time, and the developers shouldn't announce releases before they are 100% finished.

    I think that covers it.

Basicball -> RE: Some tips due to any delayed release/update (8/27/2011 9:43:00)

^are there actual plans of getting a new coder?

anyway, people should be more patient, but the reason they nag if there isn't an update, is cuzz there are weekly updates in any other AE game (not counting WF)

i think that's the 'root of all evil', really

I dont expect update every week + i dont like updates they make me spent more varium but if new item is gonna release i need to buy them to not out dated.

Finish and be sure the update 100% works till " When its ready o'clock" but dont release it in a second , set a date to release it so everybody can be prepared , and pls tell us if there is not gonna be update before "When its late o'clock"

Remorse -> RE: Some tips due to any delayed release/update (8/27/2011 11:09:53)

I have an idea you might like to add. Based purely on an assumption (If i'm wrong however you can disregaurd this idea but it might still be worth considering)

Well my asumption is, like me, You guys might put things off a bit longer and longer until eventuly the update is almost here and you don't have enought time to complete.

What I found useful to fix this problem would be to write a whole list of what should be comleted in ONE DAY, and the days requirments must be reached as long as thier is no specific problems (eg. flash crashes) and the next day repeat so you never end up wasting the whole start of the week only to really start working until the second half, making it become stressful and full of late nights. (sound farmiliar??)

I got this assumption from last weeks update. They said it would be released last week. Then somehow it get delyaed agian when their given anoher whole week. One would assume that the first half of the week must of been less productive if their was to be a further delay to the due date.

Anyway thats my idea, I hope it helps you as much as it helps me.

Please do not post PMs of your rule violations in public. You should know that without me having to tell you so.

Locking, as we're going to consolidate all of these threads into one tagged thread instead. It's easier than having ten separate discussions about this, and you'll be able to continue the conversation in a constructive fashion that way.
