Keep it constructive.
Thanks!

Basicball -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/30/2011 14:49:04)

they don't need updating, they are good for the level they are

T29060 -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 9:25:18)

By that do you mean official dates or like what?

zion -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 11:27:33)

Like:

After Halloween items are updated we will no longer update seasonal rares. Or any rares for that matter.

This would avoid consumer confusion.

It would be more straightforward if there was an official finalization of [damage/stats] for item [level/Varium/rarity]

That's all.

Basicball -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 11:33:29)

Just stop updating rares, seasonal or not

zelemania -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 12:39:44)

Why are you complaining? Cap is raising, new weapons are added and the old seasonal rares become unusable if not buffed.

@Basicball Care to explain why not? Your posts like that are annoying.

Baron Dante -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 12:48:03)

Well, they are old things. They don't need constant buffing.

For those that say how if they aren't buffed they will become useless: That's what new things are for. The lower level items are for, you know... lower level people.

Basicball -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 13:13:01)

@zel: sorry, i don't mean to be annoying, allow me to explain:

i'll take a random seasonal rare: Frostbane

now, you can see it used to be a +30 dmg, level 30 sword with 4 enhancement slots and 24 stats, making the total stats 28

last december, it was buffed to 31dmg 10 enhancements and 24 stats (34 stats total) while the level stayed the same.

now, if they keep buffing seasonal rares, in let's say 5 years, Frostbane might become a +36 sword with 30 stats and 10 enhancements (40 total)
while it'd still only be a level 30 sword. AKA, it'd be way overpowered

Non-rares are not getting buffed, this means, the gap between rares and non-rares keeps increasing.

Second reason: i see a lot of the players (not directed at someone in particular) that post here to keep buffing them, post in topics to buff Founder/beta, yet, in those topics, they say founders/beta's are so full of themselves, they only want buffs for themselves, so they can keep using the same weapons, and they can become OP again...

Let me tell those players: by saying that, and asking buffs for yourself here, you're no better then them at all ...

last, but not least: if they keep buffing rares, people will buy less new gear, making them buy less varium, making the devs (AE) gain less $$$
if AE thinks we arn't productive enough, they won't give the team extra members, and they might even shut it down

hope i made sence ^.^

I simple solution to that would be to add new seasonal rares that are at the current level cap every year.

Wiseman -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 19:46:20)

I was just discussing this with Nightwraith earlier today, after this years Holiday rares (not counting Christmas) they will not be buffing them anymore. It's for the reasons Basicball explained, and it's for the best. Same goes for Promo items including but not limited too: Founder Armor, Beta Weapons, Bunny Zookas, Gamma Weapons and even Delta Weapons. As for making higher level versions, we discussed that as well, and it's impossible because it would cause too much strain on the Detabase. I'm sure your thinking about how AQW has new versions of the same weapons yearly, however there's a fundamental difference between the two games items. AQWs weapons are basically just art added to the game, ED weapons have stats attached to them, and adding new versions of each weapon yearly would cause a lot more strain than it would on AQW.

I wish there was a way to buff them without making them overpowered, but because of the above reasons and reasons previously stated in other threads, buffing of rare/seasonal weapons will soon come to an end.

So the policy is - No more buffs for rares.

I'm sure some players will be happy bout this, and some wont be happy about it. However as I stated before it's not a matter of what we wanted to do, it's just to prevent imbalance and unfair advantages/treatment this is just how it will have to be.

Sorry for the bad news.

Note: It is possible that some future weapons/armors may receive a buff or nerfs, but if it happens it will be because they are underpowered/overpowered for their level, so it would be considered a balance adjustment.

But then we non variums will need better permanent weapons. (WITHOUT strength requirements of course)

Wiseman -> RE: Would an official policy for updating rares stop a lot of the complaining? (8/31/2011 19:55:09)

We're working on getting the balance between Credit and Varium players on a better level. The new guns and armors where the first step, but we have other things planned to help Credit players compete fairly. Just keep in mind that no matter what, Varium players will still have an advantage, it just wont be as high as it is now, and it may take time to get everything working smoothly.

The balance team is always thinking of ways to bridge the gap between Credit and Varium players, however we have to be very careful not to bridge it too much, or otherwise it would be pointless to buy Varium in the first place. :P

The reason people will be unhappy is because ... wait for it ..... wait ....

... this game is too freakin' expensive!

Lower the prices, and I guarantee people won't complain half as much about the issue. This game costs too much to be competitive, which is why people want their gear "last" longer (i.e., get buffed).

If people didn't need a second job just to keep up with the price of buying and enhancing gear, they'd be less likely to want their old gear buffed because upgrading to the "next best thing" wouldn't cost an arm and a leg (pardon the cliche).

There's now an official policy: http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=19570518

With that said I don't see a reason to leave this thread open any longer.

Thread Locked.
