Discussion & Index Foreword I've been writing poetry for over 2 years, just whatever is on my mind. This is a collection of all those poems. To quote my younger self: quote: I write in the moment, not for an entire story. My poetry reflects whatever my train of thought was, as brief as a single paragraph of story. So the topics are many and varied, just whatever. Enjoy.

Witch’s Peril Roses grow, so many anew. Sweet perfume; white, red, sunset. Hesitant hands pick the roses red, As blue ones grow too. Lilies float upon the water, Little boats of fragrant scent. Ducklings hide amongst the beds, The flowers hang their heads. Young children run in yonder meadows, Laughter filling the vale. These are the touches of spring come yonder, As we all hang our heads. They shame us for our bond with nature, Accusing us of witchcraft. We try to explain, they merely exclaim; And light the funeral pyres. The children return from the apple orchards, Battering the soldiers in disbelief. Why do they punish them for no reason? They cry themselves to sleep. The blue roses weep.

Mother’s Lullaby Gentle mind, gentle hand. Gently sleep in la la land. Baby cries, baby sighs. Baby makes a big demand. Please return to la la land. Stars shimmer, stars bright. Stars shed their gentle light. Young one wakes in the night. Mother weeps, mother sleeps. Her young one is gone.

The Return I return: From the grave. From the void. From death. I cry: Friends lost. Family lost. A life lost. I remember: A lover’s kiss. A friend’s advice. Dying alone. I run: From the pain. From despair. From the memories. Into the arms of: A new day. A new life. A new world.

The FanGirl Bubbly joy, The thrill of the chase. The squeal of joy and the smile on her face. Fizzy drink, Restless giggles and hawk eyes, Sees everything under clear skies. Silent motion, “Chase that boy! Let’s hope he falls for the ploy!” Eager grin, The trail of a rumour, That FanGirl evil humour. Scarce sleep, Gentle taps, In her mind she carefully raps. One, two, the final tap. Mum sees, Evil glee. Frantic explaining, Mum’s complaining.

The Ice Wasteland Ice embraces the falling tears, Freezing with it years of fear. Soft and gentle sobs, Alone in the white wasteland. Warm hand on sobbing form, Both watching the dying ‘morn. Nervous chatter, Together in the white wasteland. Years of pain, years of glee, Laid out in ice for all to see. Two nomads, Watching the white wasteland. Two close forms in the ice, Holding their live in a vice. Dying companions, Alone in the white wasteland.

The Fading Light Over the hills and far away, With the people you must stay. Hold them, cherish them, teach them right, Under the golden sunlight. I see you go, I wish you well, Even though you walk to hell? Over the hills and far away, Angels light and colours play. I asked him true, What is with you? You left us for dead, So you could rest you head. He faded, we cried. The light of her heart died.

Tale of Long Ago Tell us a story; tell us a tale, Tell us of the grand sea; of the blue whale. Tell us of lost worlds; tell us of flight, Tell us of what was lost this night. I hear you children; clear and well, Do you wish to know of the old world hell? Yes we do; without fear, Every passing day the truth grows near. Change is coming; dark and grim, How did we once win? Silver blade; true plight, We once fought day and night. One lone hero, not so true, Many stood; many anew. Your ancestors fought, sung, healed, Wore their hands on spinning wheels. No person stood alone; all as one, Yet the fight was not fun. My grandad died, mine did too, They said my auntie was a healer true. Many arts were lost; the bard talent fading, Yet the secret was with the aging. Hand in hand; hour past hour, They cast their ancient power. But that talents gone now, isn’t it? Yes, that is true child. But where has it gone? Mum said nothing fades, just changes. It is with the new people, you children. Me? Yes young one, you and your young kin. New art; new age, A new story; a new page. A new singer for the story, A new dawn; a new stage.

Masks Of The Mind We hide behind masks, shying from reality. They call us nerds, outcasts, fools, freaks. They try to feel important, but they are jealous of us. We outshine them. We hide behind masks, speaking freely. Our opinions are heard, we all have a say: All for one and all together. We outnumber them. We hide behind masks, showing our true self. People trust us, none are shunted. Abnormal is normal, intellect welcome. We are alive, while they live a lie. We cast those masks aside, becoming the future. Those who shunted us want to be us. We give them a second chance; we will never be like them. Our kind is cherished.... Our masks are no more.

To War! Not in the darkness, Not in the night. Day is dawning, So is the fight. To war, many people. To war, many worlds. Messengers running with terrible flight, Bullets landing with bloodlust delight. Singers calling orders to men, People marching, ten by ten. Healers and medics run of their feet, Carriers managing mean feats. Ancient technology and new age delights, All used in this terrible fight. Lay down your arms, I say! Lay down your arms, Or with lives you pay.

Different Smiling, happy, celebrating. Something normal I am quite hating. Fireworks fill the air, Wings beat, not fair. Watching people hug and kiss, Never knowing such bliss. Cold air bites feathers, Cold and stormy winter weather. Darting quickly through the air, Sparrow here, duck there. Landing near the cheery light, Wings tucked in tight. People turn, inviting me close, The warm smile of the host. There’s the boy I’d admire, Quite warm by the fire. He turns; he sees quite literally through me. I freeze. He offers me a drink, smiling, I accept it from the boy I am more than admiring. The warmth is quite surprising, Warm bread he is supplying. Feathers ruffle, he sees, I’m not so normal, I fly above the trees. He opens his own wings, Look, I can do the same thing. My heart beats wild, Are you another mutant child? Both take flight, Below us starts a fight. The light fades quickly, As does the memory of the small haven.

Spring Becomes Dancing in the Mayflowers, Singing to the wind. Happiness engulfs me, The spell truly begins. Dreams are waking, Healing in the song. Wrongs are righted, Sorrows fade away. In the April year, Happiness becomes. Laughter and enjoyment, Everybody wins. Join us, In our merry song. Joyous of laughter, Ever so fun. Hand in hand, Under the rising sun. One song one people, In the coming day.

Murder Mystery One, two: death at the door. Three, four: dead on the floor. Five, six: Devil's kiss. Seven, eight: the Great Debate. Why was death at the door, Who was lying on the floor? The clammy kiss, murderous hiss. Problem solved, simple three fold. Bringer of death was mother, The dead on the floor was father. Kiss was the daughter, hiss was the son. No happily ever after.

The Realm Walking, running Reality forming, changing under your feet Others moving, caught in their own realm Waiting, hoping Singing, dancing Stories told, dreams forming as willed Others speaking, voices together weaving Smiling, talking Crying, wishing Walls breaking, the illusion of life gone All alone, hoping for a change of pace Waiting, hoping Dreaming, weaving reality as it should be Hoping, that there is a reason to it all Writing, bringing your dream to life Living, making the most of what is Dancing, moving with the rhythm Singing, more than saying it Knowing, trusting what is Being, partaking in life This is what is, what will always be constant no matter what. This is what defines us, makes us what we see as human.

Shadowalker In the shadows lurk more opportunities, More options, more ways to approach things. In the light everybody looks at you, Expecting only the best of you. In the shadows a person can carry burdens, Just like in the light, but nobody thanks you. In the shadows everything is clearer, As the shadows are the places the illusions begun. In the shadows you can live your life alone, In the light everybody expects only the best. The shadows are kinder to the person, Light judges appearances. Either way, a person still is a person; Still duty bound, still the same emotions. But those in the shadows expect less in return, Where there is light there is a shadow.

Lady Unknown Lady of the darkness, Daughter of the night. Swift as water, Gives you a fright. Sly as the snakes slide, Calm as the night falls. Assassin of the unwary, Watcher of all. One as two, Two as one. All togeather, Many as one. Lady of the day time, Daughter of the light. Gentle as the wind blows, Guards in the night. Kind as the mist falls, Sharp as a knifes slides. Assistant to the rulers, Guide to all. One as three, Three as one. All together, Many as one. Lady of the dream world, Daughter of creation. Bold as the drum beats, Frowns in frustration. Cheery as a blue jay, Spinner of tales. Master of the stories, Singer of songs. One as four, Four as one. All together, Many as one. Lady of the real world, Daughter of the sane. Smart as the books bound, Takes no claim. Void as the night sky, Beauty unveiled. Voice of the people, Sage to all. One as many, Many as one. All together, Together the power!

Guarding Brisk footfalls in the night Warm embrace of warmer air Forceful slam of door on wood Artificial silence falls again In the night the guard stands All weather, all events Alone until a person comes Ready to welcome or chase Drool on amour as daytime nears Dust from the upper windows awakes Weary guard returns to wakefulness Call of bells across the province Change of guard at dawn break One man nodding to his replacement Slight clank of weapons on amour Silence falls and door closes Cheery chatter of bird and child Calls of maids and butlers People coming and going Morning grows ripe Nobles come and nobles go House lady left and returned Yet we wait, and stand Guarding at the door

Darkest Cards Queen of darkness Holds the deck unseen Deals out her gifts Watches from her domain Dances under dark light Her court in paled hues Watching for her king Holding her cards close Nightingales sing Eerie melodies of night The Queen waits Playing damsel as day dawns Knight of darkness Rides fast as day breaks Seeing the Queen fall Leaping as darkness She opens her eyes Sees the man of dull amour Throws off his helmet Admires his dark face He looks towards the dark Finding the Queen of Dark Kisses the card Kisses the Queen Under the moondark The sly Queen Her night King Darkness ever after

Flames Walk through the lush trees Free to do as you please Golden oak and strong yew Blossoming bugs and life new Mast crunches underfoot Potent smell of soot Winds pick up wild and unruly Fire springs round yours truly Young growth is devoured by flame Soon my fate shall be the same Tears of soot run down my face I look such a disgrace Run, run; nowhere to hide Away from the fire I shied Heat presses from aside Water ahead makes a divide Run, run, jump and leap Hope the water is not deep Land with a sudden splash The forest behind me is nothing but ash

Alongside Me I won't be alone in my pain and sorrow; I won't be alone in the pouring rain. I won't be alone with you alongside me, ready to carry me home. I will stand strong against torture and pain; defeat will never know my name. I won't be alone with you alongside me, ready to save me again. Will you ever know my name? Shall I live ashamed? Will I cry without you alongside me, ready to save me from shame.

Headstrong Winds of change blow all around me. ‘tis a crying shame, To see the fallen; mass destruction, For we must carry on. Light my way dear hero, Ride on the winds of change. Heed not pain nor sorrow, Bring in the bright new day. Words long lost to time, Responsible for the horrors today. Yet we must go on, Avast, all stand strong! For we are all heroes, Each is headstrong. Hold up the bright torch burning, Meet the new day head-on.
