Count von Tilly -> ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:08:54)

I just went on newgrounds and saw an ED ad.

I think that its about time ED gets some new players, especially since this game has hardly grown at all over the years, despite its multitude of updates and refinement. However, the advertising will not be effective unless it adds some more higher level f2ps to the game, as it will dilute the heavy concentration of P2ps, making it more appealing for nonvars to buy var.

In ED's current state, most f2ps quit before reaching lvl 30 since they lose too often to max lvl varium beasts, making the game frustrating. The general gameplaying public, as I know it is less liberal in its spending than are most of the wallet warriors of ED.

So the question is: Will ED be able to keep these new players that they get through ads, or will those players balk at the huge expenses of this game? The success of any game depends on mass popularity. Now that ED is reaching out, will the public reject it, or will the public embrace it?

I am pessimistic.

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:13:24)

they are advertising because they want new players to the game... since they formed with AE, if you didnt know AE has ads everywhere. ED gets the benifit of advertising since they partnered

PivotalDisorder -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:19:22)

well the gap IS closing between varium and non varium. theirs a ton of better items non-vars can get now

nico0las -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:24:46)

@above the gap IS closing, agreed, but I have yet to lose to a non-varium who is not tactical mercenary, and even then, I don't lose to them very often.

I think they WILL be able to keep these players. The only problem is this is a pvp game. Varium presents a much larger advantage over another player than say in.... aqw, where pvp isn't relevant. The "gap" itself isn't a problem, the problem is finding players who will play besides that. I propose, once you reach level 28, 2v2 all the way to 33. It's a lot, but option b is quitting out of sheer frustration.

frosty123 -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:25:23)

The gap will always be to far apart until something is odne with Tlm or a buff that ill make BM and CH equal to Tam

Angels Holocaust -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:27:49)

No this game will not be able to keep the new players. It never will keep the players why is that you ask? It's because this game promotes no skill whatsoever. We have no control over anything that we do here. 2 vs 2 is one of the greatest examples, one hour of that garbage will pretty much tick off the majority of new players. Let's see what else is a problem? Oh yeah, crit's that's still another problem that we have to deal with, crits should ignore 10 percent of defenses not 50. It's still too high. Balance is another problem that we have to face, players shouldn't be forced to class change every single time a class is nerfed or buffed. Deceit is another tactic that the Devs use to make the players feel like crap. Look at founder armor, all of a sudden out of nowhere they decide to change the stats. They just go on and do whatever the hell they want without telling us in advance or giving some reparations to the players that are hurt.

All in all customer satisfaction is at an all time low. Sure the Devs might be able to make 100 dollars off of a player but It'll never last.

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:29:02)

They still make money off of it. I believe the advertising is from AE so Epicduel doesnt really need to pay for it, but Artix does. AQW is very successful and they will get plenty of money off of that which in return they do their advertising

Stabilis -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:33:54)

I think the more money ED gets the better the game will be ROFL

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 19:50:59)

they dont need money to create stuff...

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 20:21:39)

all money does for ED is keep the Servers and coffee machines running.

Now onto the real topic maybe at a later date but die hard players will get bored of the monotoned style ED has become and will go to seek out a less monotonous game which are all over newgrounds. where they saw the ad

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:00:55)

Yes but most people who are bored of the game wont leave because they probably have spent alot of money on it. The point of the ads to atract attention to all AE games.

edwardvulture -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:04:10)

When you reach level 28 to 30 (one on one), you have several options.
1. keep losing
2. buy varium
3. QUIT GAME
4. NPC
most of them quit. That is why there are a lot more level cap varium players than non-variums.

What I deduct from this is that ED doesn't want to keep players, they want f2ps to quit and make more room for new paying players. All in a money scam to not lose server space and making it so that it doesn't ever get a server size increase which would save money.

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:05:56)

They want new players because new players = more money cause they dont understand that varium is alot of money for so little.

redxtra -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:28:55)

new players = more money = more in game content
new players = fresh ideas = more in game content

@latinlover
that is true as well because even tho at a lower level it can buy a lot but once ya hit the high 20s 20 bucks of varium can only get ya 2 weapons and some enhancements

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:32:53)

But with only 2 weapons and enhancements = they want more, so they buy higher packages. Its all an optical illusion thats very effective

PD -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:37:19)

I sorta saw this a long time ago on MangaReader about 1 year ago.

It's nothing new really. And the Ad gives the impression that the game pretty cheaply made - All they did was Copy-Paste Valery from the game (All you have to do is copy the file) and paste it to the ad. It's about 5 seconds of work effort.

redxtra -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:38:19)

@latin lover
yup very
and then also they have promo items that pulls more money in

LatinLover/Martini -> RE: ED is advertising (9/11/2011 21:38:20)

5 seconds of work = 100$ for the game within like 3 weeks

TurkishIncubus -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 11:33:06)

Well done AE or ED Devs , finally they are advertising

And to make non variums more competitive decrease credit enhance prices , there is not big gap between varium and non varium items but variums can easly enhance in the other hand most non variums are enhanceless.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 12:18:16)

@Turkish: I have a non varium tac merc [to prove a point] and no way you can enhance before your 33. I bought varium to class change and enhance
and then used credits to purchase non varium items. I would be surprised if even 10% of non varium 33s were able to fully enhance via credits.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 15:59:01)

^ yeah thats why prices of credit enhance should decreased , 40k at max is reasonable , with this varium will also stay longer which means no need to increase varium per pack

PivotalDisorder -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 16:06:02)

@Turkish: sorry man, just realised it sounded like I was disagreeing with you. I agree completely, credit prices for enhancements are not realistic.

Joe10112 -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 16:11:47)

Edward's point was pretty well said. I quit, came back and NPCed. Now I'm level 31 (almost). I think I have to succumb to varium buying now...

Basicball -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 16:12:41)

i'd like to see cred enhancements for 7.5K/slot, sameprice every slot

PivotalDisorder -> RE: ED is advertising (9/12/2011 16:30:02)

@Turkish: sorry man, just realised it sounded like I was disagreeing with you. I agree completely, credit prices for enhancements are not realistic.
