WhiteTiger -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 0:44:39)

To be honest, I'm not really hoping for much for TLAPD, just kinda glad ED is releasing something for the event. All I want is for almost every varium item, there is a non-varium counterpart to it. What I'd really like to see though, is something like an eyepatch hairstyle for free players and a pirate hat for varium players, along with a non-varium and varium pirate armor that is usable with any class. And of course, some pirate related weapons for all. Although I don't really expect ED to release a large amount of items for this event, I'd love to see it happen.

aqwshadowking14 -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 1:11:28)

@WhiteTiger

That may be coming later on since we now have a new pre-coder who can help out Titan a lot. I think we need 1 or 2 more experience artists that can do good art work like NW. We will see the results. :)

AQWPlayer -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 2:06:50)

@WhiteTiger
Agreed [8|] In ED, we can hope for stuff, but not expect them.

skeletondude -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 3:43:19)

im probably think wht goin to come for TLAPD

1: Cannon (bazooka) which shot out a cannon ball
2: plank (sword)
3: Pirates claws (you know like when a pirate losses his arm he gets the claw )
4: Wooden leg (hehe swinging that leg as if it was a baseball bat :P)

drinde -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 5:39:38)

Give every player a pegleg. XD

Also some Low-LV rares.

MirageD -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 6:26:12)

September 19th is TLAPD....here is some stuff from a TLAPD website (with some edits)...as i understand it, the primary purpose of all this is silliness [;)]

Pirate lingo is rich and complicated, sort of like a good stew.

But if you just want a quick fix, a surface gloss, a "pirate patina," if you will, here are the five basic words that you cannot live without. Master them, and you can face Talk Like a Pirate Day with a smile on your face and a parrot on your shoulder, if that's your thing.

Ahoy! - "Hello!"

Avast! - Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, "Whoa! Get a load of that!" which today makes it more of a "Check it out" or "No way!" or "Get off!"

Aye! - "Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did."

Aye aye! - "I'll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over."

Arrr! - This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. "Arrr!" can mean, variously, "yes," "I agree," "I'm happy," "I'm enjoying this beer," "My team is going to win it all," "I saw that television show, it sucked!" and "That was a clever remark you or I just made." And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!

Advanced pirate lingo; or On beyond “Aarrr!”

Once you've mastered the basics, you're ready to start expanding your pirate vocabulary. Try these for starters

Beauty – The best possible pirate address for a woman. Always preceded by “me,” as in, “C’mere, me beauty,” You’ll be surprised how effective this is.

Bilge rat – The bilge is the lowest level of the ship. It’s loaded with ballast and slimy, reeking water. A bilge rat, then, is a rat that lives in the worst place on the ship. On TLAP Day – A lot of guy humor involves insulting your buddies to prove your friendship. It’s important that everyone understand you are smarter, more powerful and much luckier with the wenches than they are. Since bilge rat is a pretty dirty thing to call someone, by all means use it on your friends.

Bung hole – Victuals on a ship were stored in wooden casks. The stopper in the barrel is called the bung, and the hole is called the bung hole. That’s all. It sounds a lot worse, doesn’t it? On TLAP Day – When dinner is served you’ll make quite an impression when you say, “Well, me hearties, let’s see what crawled out of the bung hole.” That statement will be instantly followed by the sound of people putting down their utensils and pushing themselves away from the table. Great! More for you!

Grog – An alcoholic drink, usually rum diluted with water, but in this context you could use it to refer to any alcoholic beverage other than beer, and we aren’t prepared to be picky about that, either. Call your beer grog if you want. We won’t stop you! Water aboard ship was stored for long periods in slimy wooden barrels, so you can see why rum was added to each sailor’s water ration – to kill the rancid taste. On TLAP Day – Drink up, me hearties! And call whatever you’re drinking grog if you want to.

Lubber – (or land lubber) This is the seaman’s version of land lover, mangled by typical pirate disregard for elocution. A lubber is someone who does not go to sea, who stays on the land. On TLAP Day – More likely than not, you are a lubber 364 days of the year. But not if you’re talking like a pirate! Then the word lubber becomes one of the more fierce weapons in your arsenal of piratical lingo. In a room where everyone is talking like pirates, lubber is ALWAYS an insult.

Smartly – Do something quickly. On TLAP Day – “Smartly, me lass,” you might say when sending the bar maid off for another round. She will be so impressed she might well spit in your beer.

skeletondude -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 6:29:03)

^ o.0 pirate college i guess??

T.600 -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 7:00:07)

I'd like to see an achievment that you can buy with battle tokens as well :D.

King FrostLich -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 7:19:15)

I'm thinking of a nice cannon from a pirate ship with pistols and rapiers. Just imagine watching the movie Pirates of the Caribbean and imagine what weapons do they use.

Silver Sky Magician -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 7:45:16)

I would like every (or selected) NPCs to talk like a pirate, and perhaps ED's first ever war - players versus pirate-based NPCs (which are level-scaled). These pirate-based NPCs come in three different types and have different builds, but the same appearance so battles will be more fun. Unrealistic as of now, but we just might have a war by next year's TLAPD [;)]

drinde -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 8:50:23)

Put a "Talk like a Pirate or Else!" notice whenever someone doesn't include "Arrr!" in a sentence. But still show the speech bubble.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 10:23:11)

quote:

How about instead of making weapons for the Highest level people (32-33), we make all those weapons for levels 20-30? You know, SO WE CAN ACTUALLY HAVE A BEARABLE TRANSITION TO THE LEVEL CAP.

Just something to think about ya know.

20-30 has some great weapons, but most of the better weapons for 32s and 33s are usually rare and are far less, I'm all for the lower levels getting more weapons as long as level 33s get a larger variety of non-rare weapons

Nebula -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 11:20:59)

@Drinde There shouldn't be low-level rares, just low level permanent items. There's no point in low level rares since they'll never be used.

PD -> RE: TLAPD! (9/13/2011 12:49:20)

@zman: If you look at the ED Compendium you'll find your views more than a gaping dis-illusionment.

Also, if lower leveled people still can't stand up to highest cap people, then there's definitely something wrong.
