I was thinking about maybe adding a feature that allows you to make groups for friends,
Ie.
Clan: Tom, Dick , Harry.
AK DF GD: Landis, True Mortal, Mritha,
AK DF Q&A : Melissa4Bella, Chisagen , craze, Skydrite.

This will also help if you want to search for a friend quicker or if you have to send multiple PM's to your clan :)

That is a very good and usefull idea san [:D]
Then its easier to know who to contact on what occassion[:)]

As much as a good idea this is, I'd have to disagree with it.

Firstly... when adding people onto your contact list, they only appear when they're Online, when checking your Inbox. So... you STILL wouldn't be able to tell who is and isn't online without checking.

Now... there's also the "Members", located in between Help, and Search. Using that you won't have to check every single post, to be able to find a person you want to PM. Just typing there name in Members will bring up their profile. It WOULD make sending multiple PM's easier also, maybe... depends how it's done. But, it would be easier to take a few extra seconds and type the persons name in the PM also...

So, say for example you wanna send a PM to 3 people... Dude 1, Person 2, and Friend 3 (listed as 1, 2, 3)

Simply search PM one of them, but before sending it, you could type in the recieving tab "Dude 1, Person 2, Friend 3," and the PM will be sent to all 3 persons.

*Technically* this is already possible. First you go into your contact list, and from there you can create new folders for groups of people.

San Robin -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (9/30/2011 9:04:16)

@PD I noticed that but its still handy to see which online friend is in which group.
and if you want to sent a PM to everyone in your clan it would be handy to select a group so you dont have to look for the names.

Therril Oreb -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (9/30/2011 9:06:37)

Technically it does, but to give an easy example

I have meny people in my adress list

The groups i have are: DF GD AK's, DF Q&A AK's, DF strategy AK's, Project members and clan members

I see them all in 1 list so when i look for a person in a specifik group, its less handy. So you should be able to see the people in different groups.

Everest -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (9/30/2011 11:16:31)

We could look into this possibility. The ability to send PMs to groups isn't happening though; that would bypass the recipient limit which is there for a very good reason. That reason being the opportunity for mass spam PMs.

Therril Oreb -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (9/30/2011 12:31:37)

The idea was just to group the people you have in the adressbook so you can more easily find the person you are looking for.
The limit sticks with 3 people each message for the reason you just gave.[;)]

San Robin -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (9/30/2011 12:41:01)

@Everest Thank you for looking into it :)
and if I may ask how much time is there exactly between sending PM's?

Dwelling Dragonlord -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (9/30/2011 16:33:09)

@San Robin: My personal guess is around 20-30 seconds.

San Robin -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (10/1/2011 14:27:27)

only 30 seconds :o ok Thnx :)

Drew out my idea: example 1 & Example 2

Therril Oreb -> RE: New Feature for friendlist (10/2/2011 7:48:57)

Example 2 would be my favorite San Robin[;)]

Does ASPPlayground.NET offer a modification that allows the limiting of the amount of recipients for a PM as certain other forum software providers do?
