endtime -> Memories (10/9/2011 23:49:52)

Discuss your earliest memories with this game as well as memorable highlights. You can be as brief or detailed as you want to be. I am particularly curious about the players who have had a long history with this game.

Here's my story:
I started playing this game in mid-December 2009. I remember choosing mage, thinking that this had to be the strongest and most unique class. Before my first battle, I was recruited by a player named Black Hand to his faction. My first battle was awesome, I remember somehow beating a level 5 and when I told Black Hand, he said "Good job. The Guardians of the Black Hand is getting stronger." Within a few days, I had reached level 25 with an awesome record--despite the fact I thought reroute was a useless skill until level 20. I had so much fun before this level, always excited to go up a level and opening a new skill. But when I reached level 25, I experienced the "quitting stage" of this game.

Every time I clicked 1v1 or 2v2, there was consistently an invincible level 30 every other battle. Halfway through level 25, I got discouraged and decided to create a new account: a mercenary. With the knowledge of hybrid armor's OPness, I swiftly leveled up with almost no losses until I once reached level 25 and encountered the same problems. Realizing there was no other way to advance, I kept playing. Unfortunately, I was unaware that 2v2 is the true measure of skill--because NPCs dilute 1v1--so thinking that 1v1 would be more important to preserve, I kept playing 2v2 hoping for a good partner every battle. Eventually, I got to level 29 and chose to get varium. Because mercenaries seemed so strong, I was tempted to give the varium to my mercenary. But after much deliberation, I decided to give my first account (Endtime the mage) the varium. As soon as I hit level 30 and discovered the healer mage build, I knew I made the right choice.

Some memorable highlights:
-I discovered the reroute, deadly aim, and malfunction from .Angel. (a former 2v2 all-timer).
-The first top player I saw was Sparticus, who at the time was using a utility claw, high smoke screen/massacre build.
-My first ED video was of a level 25 me versing a level 21 opponent.
-The first top player I beat was Gamal. I remember being very excited and bragging to the noob buddies I had at the time.
-The reason I chose to give varium to my mage was because I saw Daphne and became buddies with Flath and 3.lol. All three had insanely high win rates and were mages.
-I remember being really excited when people started recognizing me from YouTube.
-I was very loyal to my first faction, declining numerous offers. But when THREE STARS AND A SUN--the top faction at the time--asked me to join, I couldn't say no. I was super excited until I was informed of the 100 kills per day rule--I am too busy with real life for this. I was sad that I had abandoned my very first faction, which I had 2000+ wins in. Fortunately, I saw DeBoise. When I talked to him, he let me join Brotherhood and I've been there since.
-Waiting for Gamma was super painful because it seemed as if every time I checked for the update, a new release date was posted.
-I remember being insanely unhappy when Field Medic was set to 4 cooldown and agility was enforced, even making a video about "the good times".
-The lowest I've been in this game was when Infamous Nightshade deleted a majority of my videos, right after I reached the milestone 100 videos. I still don't know what drove him to do this, especially since I was the one who got him into surveys.
-Initially I was unhappy with the release of the TLM because I never liked five-focus--blocks are so annoying. But one day, .Torin. and I were talking about TLM builds and suddenly the idea of a support TLM came to me. I switched into that and have loved the TLM since--until the next update probably.

ArtixRadinGod -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 2:35:04)

I started as a bounty. (I know right!?) of which is a beta founder account. But then I made an original mercenary account. My bounty was level 30 with a bit of Varium. (30 was a high level back then.) But I found myself loving merch due to its bunker. I was able to put points on tech to raise my tech defence and hybrid raised my physical and due to bunker being due to tech damage, I began a massive win streak. (This was indeed on the account I now have linked.)

However I stopped playing my bounty at this point. Even to this day they remain level 30 with gear that can no longer compare.

I stayed on my mercenary and started making a name for her. I remember taking down top players such as Comical Biker and Fay Beee. I also lost some fights to them.

I then fought a few staff members, and WON! Dax, Wiseman/men?, Titan, Charfrade? Not sure if I spelled right and so on.

Then the new classes! I quickly bought a game card for Varium and changed classes to TLM. I loved the class! It was like Mercenary, but better! (To me.) However I am hearing they will become junk. At that point I'm not sure what class I'll change to. Probably bounty because they'll become the top class now probably.

Five Star rating. That milestone was awesome. Even to this day I'm proud of myself for that. And just recently I joined a 'pro faction' and gained a 'Flag Control' achievement because I stood beside our flag and every time it changed I donated tons! I really wanted that achievement. And I got it!

However due to these 'balance' updates coming up I think Epic Duel may be hitting a dark age of sorts. I think may will be disappointed. Especially the people who never 'abused' a build such as high support only to be further nerfed. But I'm sure the staff know what's best!

To past memories and future ones to come, cheers!

Mr.Pablo Jr. -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 2:39:35)

I started playing late in the Alpha phase, but never really enjoyed the game due to its lack of content and players. I do remember things were quite unbalanced and a bit bland. After three weeks, I quit EpicDuel and moved on with my life. It wasn't until early Gamma did I create another account. I found early Gamma to be extremely diverse so I decided to give the game another go. I created a new acc, CanadianMr.PabloJr. and proceeded to play with him. Right off the bat, the game hooked me. I enjoyed the different player interactions and real time PvP a lot. Epicduel was so unlike other AE games, you were always fighting different people. At first I didn't get the gist of the game and had a very pathetic record. I was then recruited into the epic faction Black Knights of Chaos and it was then I started to really play. I set and reached a goal of 1,000 wins a week. After dominating in that faction, I was very sad to leave due to the fact I had to go inactive because of college applications. Around the beginning of December, I came back and was introduced to Dax. I was very excited when he offered me a spot in his faction. Well you guys know the rest of what DSX did, 1vs1 faction record, WD record, 1vs1 medals, etc... Then DSX quietly went into retirement and so did I. At that point I was also presented with the notion of strength bh from Dax, but I thought if everyone already is a strength bh, wouldn't my ratio soar if I had a build that could beat them? And from that I concocted a focus bh build that would serve as my main build al through Gamma. I had also decided to work on my crappy ratio so instead of wins, I set and obtained a daily ratio of 96%, which was moved to 98.5% later on. I joined KotR when I got active again and stayed until summer when I quit indefinitely. When Delta came, I changed to TLM and ran a superb focus build. Then came the DNs on the bot nerf which would've killed my build, so I discussed different builds with Endtime and he agreed to give my support build a try. I guess he found it extremely satisfying since he's had the build for so long. I myself, then changed to support, making a few modifications and ran that build from then till now. Now I have achieved everything I ever wanted in EpicDuel, Emperor, 6 stars, and 92% ratio, I just play sparingly and chill. I find Epicduel bland again so I am always waiting, waiting for an update or updates to bring back Epicduel's former glory and the certain umpff that inticed me so many months ago.

nico0las -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 14:23:39)

I started playing the very first day of AE's merge with ED. I started out as a mage, I think. Until level 25, I was simply awesome. Afterwards, when I encountered high levels (30, back then), I felt the mage was too weak and made a new account.
This one was a hunter. I took everything I had learned from my mage account into this one. I bought varium, got the founder armor, and started hauling _____.
I joined several good factions, but never remained, being far too lazy to keep the wins.
Eventually, after trying out mercenary, I quit due to school.
I logged on one day, out of sheer boredom. My first battle in ages was against Cinderella.
She wiped the floor with my face, of course. However, she successfully inspired me to give it another try.

In May, I returned, better than ever. I switched to tactical mercenary at the release of delta, and revived my account.
I joined several random factions, and some notable ones, until I was found by Night Shade. I was surprised she wanted me to join Badwitch's faction, seeing as I was merely Hero back then.
I joined the witches of pain, and was happy ever since. They were really cool, and although we may have our differences, we're a good team. they drove me to be the best, and I am currently awaiting promotion, should it come.
I'm currently a varium 33 hunter, and happy with my result. At 5 stars for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, I'm extremely pleased with myself. I plan on taking 1v1, 2v2, and juggernaut champion in November, and hopefully make that 6 stars.
I am considering retiring. I've retired from 2 AE games, and this may be my last.

FrostHS -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 18:10:45)

I started out as a merc. This was the day of the Merge between the two companies and i remember fighting famous AQW players and befriding rose6 on ED. In a 2v2 i was in it with sleepslate scottrick95 and scourge, it was awesome but i lost. By level 25, I bought the Founder package and was really good after that. Then came out the folder build wich absolutley destroyed me and i just kept going though. When Beta weps were released, I bought the package to get them, and so on for gamma and delta. But back when class change was made, i switched to bounty and bought the perforator and made a high str build that worked extremely good. After this when independence stuff came out i remeber buying the stars and stripes forver bazooka and some gun wich made my str build for bounty even better. I stuck with bounty for a very long time but changed and changed back so much i can barley count it. I think the order was this: Merc,bounty,mage,bounty,merc,bounty,mage,bounty,merc,mage,cyber,TaM,cyber,bloodmage,and back to cyber wich i am now. That a lot of varium i put into this game and in my opinion was worth it because i was trying to be the OP'ed cclass at that moment. As of now my Cyber build is almost undeafeatable and to this day i don't plan on changing again for a very long time to the TaM nerf since they are the only ones beating me. That's my story and memories oh and i found out how to check my character ID and it turns out it's 1292 :D
EDIT: The possibly best day was whenever i got 6 stars. Me and my friend Malack x were racing to see who would get to 5 stars first, but i had founder and he ddin't so i had a huge advantage. When i was within 100 from him, george lowe came out and i beat him on my 3rd try as a bounty to get my 5th star. Somehow, From Christmas to march, i got my sixth star, and have no intent to try to go for 7 as i have only 1k tokens and there is no more NPC's as of now since i beat them all.

Aere -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 20:46:18)

Hmm, we shall see how much I can remember.

I joined ED back in VERY early Beta on my first real account, Athene. As a non-varium bounty did not get far, ever, I dropped that account and made my current one. Named it Pallas, in relation to Pallas Athene, which is another name for Athena. I remember being in awe of a certain player, because he let me win against him during my early stages on my first BH. Even then, we said how the battle system matchup was flawed.

I remember meeting SmokinBudz, in a Strength Mage build when I was around level 25. After getting crushed in that 2v2 battle, I quickly shifted my build. Working my way through the levels, I began to make a name for myself.

I remember switching to BH the day class change was introduced. BH will always be my home class, no matter what class I shift to. Changing my name to Aere, I discovered Lightmare's Support Build on the old EDF. The same friend who I had met on my first account had now become my good friend; We quickly adapted that build to ourselves, and began to increase in skill and fame exponentially. I've never been the most active, or the most outstanding, but my ratio became very high considering I did not NPC and the fun that was chaos ran rampart through those times.

I remember the Support BH was one of the few builds that could counter the clones that were Heal Loopers back in March 2010.

I can't remember which factions I ever joined. I could never make win requirements, because I valued quality over quantity. I'd rather win one phenomenal battle then effortlessly slaughter 10 kids who have no idea what they're doing. I'd much rather challenge my friends, because that's what it was; A challenge.

As Gamma came around, I slowly dropped off of this game. My long-time friends were quitting because of the problems that are now all-too-voiced, and I had no want to play this game alone. Quality over Quantity; I'd rather have a few good friends then mass together a loose circle.

Refusing to spend any more money, I obviously could not keep up with the gear of today. A player could join today, spend 50$, and be statistically better then somebody who has played for the last 2 years. I found this appalling, and began to log on even less. Socializing with my friends began to die down, and I probably only speak with 1/8th of the friends on my moderately-sized list.

Now I just sit here, reminiscing with the others about the good ole' days. Who cares about balance. It's just that when one class is so obscenely above the other two, and there is nearly no hope of winning your fight, what's the fun? Heal Loopers weren't invincible, and I sure as hell know I wasn't.

Whatever, not like there's even a redeeming point to this game, for me.

dont give up -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 21:12:16)

i remember nothing

plasma devastator -> RE: Memories (10/10/2011 22:47:30)

I started in about Mid-Late Beta (the time when the Screaming Eagle Bike came around)
I remember my really random name (if you want to hear it, PM me) and i went into a 1v1 fight.
i had no idea what to click (as usual) and my enemy used cheap shot on me. i was suprised that you could attack 3 times in a row
so(i was a BH back then) i clicked the icon that looked like a foot. i was suprised that i did the same attack as he did, and then i was starting to know the classes. then i noticed that the "Rage" meter was flashing, so i clicked strike and i did rage. he did rage as well. i ended up losing the fight(i was lvl 1 anyway Lol) then i found the light city guard. that was the first time when i saw the "VICTORY" screen and then i farmed him till i killed him 5 times.
This is my record(as i remember it ) and what weapons i was using:
lvl 1: Light Blades
lvl 3: Dire Blades(forgot the name i think) and Blaster
lvl 8:gougers and outlaw II
lvl 12:Motor Blades and outlaw II?
lvl 17:Plasma cutters and enforcer E
lvl 19?: Plasma Axe and enforcer E
lvl 22: Omega Blades 2,Omega Blaster, and Silenced cannon E
lvl 27:Dark Emperor Blades,Arbiter, and Silenced cannon E
lvl 30:Divine Daggers,Impeiral SMG, Predator Armor E,and Blue Devil
lvl 31: Soul Harvaster,Dread Cannon, Graphite Gun (from last year), and Predator armor E
lvl 32:*gets 10k pack on nov 29, 2010* Frostbane, Plasma ACP, Desert Ronin, and Frost Cannon
lvl 33:*gets another 10k pack on 30 June 2011* Delta Daggers, Kurz Elite, Tesla armor P, and Frost Cannon

That's all i can remember. :P

Minus123 -> RE: Memories (10/11/2011 18:14:10)

Started playing the game Dec. 13 2009. I remember how founders dominated the game early on.

Met a bounty who taught me how things work when I was a noob. He told me to max my hybrid armor, which helped me alot. (I was lvl 17 I think)

Started doing 2 vs 2 and just battled all the way to lvl 30, then quit.

Came back when gamma started and got hooked on the game again, Shortly after, met an officer of Atlantis and became a member.

Since I browse the forums alot, decided to make an account.

Pretty much all I remember.

veneeria -> RE: Memories (10/11/2011 18:36:33)

I kinda joined epicduel before their merging with AE.
It used to be an escape from AE games, in which ironically turned part of AE. XD

Really fun game, with a small number of players and wicked cool style.
I knew about it, because of a chat somewhere.
Not much after, i started playing with a couple of school friends and levelled up with them there. became a mid high level player, still continuously owned by the elite..
I really loved the fights in which I had to use the small brain power, in which I had, to fight some players & elite players.
Kinda when I was getting money to buy elite, i heard the game would be having this change? Which ended on being a update to "AE epicduel beta".
The money. I kinda couldn't buy founder armor, so i used in something else.

Nothing else interesting to talk to now days. >. <
