You guys are lucky youare getting anything at all, last year was just weapons. This year missions,weapons,
new mission drops, retrain revamp and it's not even halloween yet and you're all
complaining because they need to fix things so the update will be even more epic? I don't get any of you at all.

ansh0 -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 12:55:43)

@bove
O.o I thought Oreo was a biscuit !!

On topic: the delay doesn't bother me as it gives me more time to farm for creds and tokens.

Wraith -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 12:58:06)

I pray
For a delay
CUz I need to write an essay

:P I can't farm when I have a ton of homework, and I need over 1300 tokens (curse tlapd cheevo)

I agree!

9001WaysToLaugh -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 17:42:35)

The staff can take their time for all I care. The longer it takes to update, the longer my gear stays effective [;)].

frogbones -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 17:44:33)

To all those who think the devs don't owe us anything:

You people are stagnating this game and accomplishing nothing except slowing down progress.

Stop being pushovers.

If you can't, then please just sit back quietly in the background and let us "complainers" move this game forward.

You'll thank us later. (Oh wait, no you won't. You'll thank the devs.) [:@]

Basicball -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 18:26:40)

@frogbones, the more you complain, the more the devs will feel unloved.
this results in them starting to hate you (eventually), which will make them not want to make a game for you anymore.
now tell me, how is no game faster then what we have now?

you should realise that you gain nothing (good) from complaining, however, being friendly and polite can get you a long way down the road of accomplishing things.

frogbones -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 18:36:18)

Basicball, I'm sure you're a great guy. Truly I am. But you're dead wrong on this issue. I will never understand why you and the others treat this game different than any other business.

Why are you so beholden to them? They're horribly unprofessional in many aspects of the word. Yet people still defend them. Why?

They make a lot of money off us. I could see being friendly and patient and all that other cuddly teddy bear crud if they charged a lot less for Varium. After all, we are "testing" their game for them, right?

So if we're doing them that favor, then why charge us huge prices for it?

In effect, they get the best of both worlds: Make a bunch of money and act like 8-year olds trying to put together a Power Point presentation.

It's truly disgusting what they have going here, and I'm embarassed to be part of it.

(I know, I know: If I don't like it, just leave.)

Hotairballoons -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 18:47:11)

You know, I understand the situation, but this is just sad. I feel like quitting this game sometimes... The worst part is that everyone got so excited and then the completion date was blown out of the water. Hard to build up an interest for a game when it has timing issues

we do not test the game for them, the testers test the game, we are just the customers.

It's like saying apple (R.I.P. S.J.) has it's customers as testers as well,
apple has a team of people testing the ipods, ipad, macs, ..., yet they might look over a bug/problem.
they still release the item, because they are not aware of the issue.
people buy it, and some start spotting the fault
these people are not apple's testers
on the other hand, if apple WAS to find the issue on the last minute, they would delay releasing the item, and work out the problem first.
I highly doubt the apple fans would go berzerk if that happens, and start demanding things.
they'd be happy that they are getting a perfect, bug-less product.
on the other hand, apple itself would mind it far more, because a delay in releasing it makes them lose tons of money/day.

i hope you see the alikeness with EpicDuel.

frogbones -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 19:28:16)

When I say "testing," I'm referring to the fact that this game has been in a "Testing Phase" for like two years now. (The Balance Team was only just introduced recently---that's a head-scratcher in itself.)

Yet they charge prices that are more akin to other full-fledged, established games that have at least figured out how to release updates in a relatively timely manner---as well as interact with their players via forum communication.

And that's not to say other companies don't have bugs or delays ... they just don't make it an every week excuse like ED does.

Lycus -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 19:40:29)

@Frogbones: I'd just like to point out that Epicduel really are not the only people who do this, there are much much bigger companies who do the same thing. To use Basicball's Apple comparison again - they announced the release date of the iPhone 4S about 4 times, each time being delayed.
Gran Turismo 5 was delayed by over a year in total, it had a release date announced many many many times, and kept being postponed because it just wasn't ready.

I could continue with more examples, but I think you get my point - this happens to even the biggest of companies. If the releases aren't ready then they won't be released, simple as that. If we were to update now, we'd have a retrain system put in place that isn't complete, which means nobody would be able to retrain, class change etc. until fixed. What's being done is stopping that from happening, and making the release, the best possible, most ready, and as bug free as can be, for you guys. Simple as that.

Basicball -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 19:44:35)

quote:

After all this waiting (as our fans have made abundantly clear, it’s been a long wait) we’re finally releasing EpicDuel Delta. Sometime on Wednesday, June 29th (what time? When it’s ready o’clock) we will be rolling live with the next stage of EpicDuel’s evolution!

the next stage of EpicDuel's evoltution =/= the next stage of ED's Testing
however, one could argue that EpicDuel is still in a testing phase, though then one should realise it will allways be in a testing phase.

and before we had a tester team, the devs tested everything ;^)

about prices: in your argumentation, you could say that you're giving money to be allowed to test the game to it's full

Darkoake445 -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 19:48:22)

@Rainaka I like your examples except all the ones you used kind of fuel the other side of the debate because the consumers aren't paying for those games or products before they come out. We however have been waiting for Epicduel to come out of testing and meanwhile we have been loading a ton of money into it. Also along with your other arguments, bug free delays, many companies release games or other products that require patching and the consumer base doesn't mind so why don't they follow suit?

Algorithm -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 19:50:48)

Great idea got my support.

frogbones -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:01:50)

EDIT: Ninja'd by Darkoake!

And I could appreciate that, Rainaka, if it were a one- or two-time occurence. But in ED, it has become a weekly occurence.

Also, I don't think your examples are exactly fair. You're comparing the delay of an item that people didn't have (the new phone or a new game)** to the delays of updates to a game that people do have.

Put a different way: There's a huge difference between having to wait for that iPhone to be released, versus already owning it and having to wait for a patch or update because it's "broken."

**Most people hadn't paid for the iPhone 4S or the Gran Turismo game--except those who paid for it pre-release, but the numbers who did that are far fewer than those who waited for the official launch.

Darkoake445 -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:03:19)

@frogbones Yes that is correct as I brought out in my previous post.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:10:52)

@Darkoake445 My friend actually pre-ordered Gran Turismo 5 at the original release date so people were paying for GT5 for over a year without being able to play it while we have something to play

@Frogbones alot of delays can help people if you need an extra day to farm credits for seasonal or permarares the delay helps you, same for Chevos or just staying the OP'ed class for an extra 24 hours or so

Darkoake445 -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:13:59)

@OWA However did they pay over and over again for it? No. We have been pumping a ton of money to sustain this game long enough to just get it out of testing. This warrants some unrest among the community considering how much AE is making off of our patience.

ND Mallet -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:18:03)

@dark You do not understand his point. People who pre ordered GT5 paid 50-60 bucks for a game they couldn't play at all. If you pay 50 bucks here you still get a game to play. Which one do you want to invest in, a game you don't have that has been delayed for a full year or a game that you can play that gets updated a few days to a week late? Even if ED gets delayed for a whole year(worst case scenario where the staff all die in a freak accident) you can still play this game.

frogbones -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:22:15)

Oh good lord, OWA. Just when I thought I'd heard it all....

Wait a second! Lightbulb Moment! (And not meant as a flame!):

Most of the Delay Defenders are probably too young to be considered consumers in the true sense of the word.

Meaning that their parents still buy them most of their stuff (whether outright or as a present or reward), which means they're not feeling the same sense of being ripped off as those of us who spent our own money.

Maybe that explains it?

EDIT @ ND:

And you're getting our point: Buying something in advance and awaiting its delayed delivery is way different than buying something at the store, taking it home and unwrapping it, only to find out it's broken and requires a fix that is constantly delayed over and over again.

Darkoake445 -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:31:39)

@ND No, no I fully understand his point. Also I believe that you are confusing me with one of the young kids who are very upset that the update got delayed. I for one do not care when this or any update comes out. Now on to ED even though we can still play this game it's not really worth it without for one, updates. These updates can be both content and balance. Just look at how long it took for the team to address the problem with Tac Mercs, if they continue at that rate they will put themselves out of business. This is supported by the fact that I can name at least 5 people that have quit this game due to either the lack of balance or the lack of content. For a very long time they promised that a new battle mode would come out and took them over a year to do so and from the get-go they promised the retrain revamp and people waited and waited. Now I may be wandering from my original point but it still stands, people aren't going to play a game that is riddled with inconsistency and unbalance. However the real video game industries build up hype and more hype and when they release the game it is of quality and has been tested, and the reason that they stay in testing for that long is because they actually have complicated engines and so forth but this is a flash based game and is 2d. That's why I honestly don't understand why you guys are getting so upset over it and/or defend it.

ND Mallet -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:34:26)

@frogbones The game isn't broken though. It would be if they didn't delay the release and made it live with a broken system.

let's see ...

<ages removed>

You see, the ED playerbase is (on average) the oldest one of all AE player bases,
so your statement is quite invallid imho

Removed player ages. Please do not post personal information on the forums. ~Ashari

Fay Beeee -> RE: =ED= DN 13/10/2011 (10/15/2011 20:44:26)

May not be a good idea but how about they use some of the good build makers to help with the testing. As long as they do not tell anyone exactly what they are doing, it would help find the bugs. And I am sure the selected player would be only too eager to help. :)

And I do not mean me.
