I've seen certain features on different sites that make the forums more interactive and enjoyable. A couple I think would be great here are:
'Like'/'thank' buttons.
Reputations bars and points system, maybe when certain point is reached, predetermined custom, non-AE related avatars and titles are earned.

Just a suggestion, big change comes in small packages. :)

Reputation is a no. A similar system already existed before and was done away with.

Giving away avatar and title privileges using a like/dislike system is also a no. The forums are not a popularity contest; custom privileges are to reward exemplary members, not popular ones or top posters.

As an addendum to TF's post, such a system whereby top posters and popular members are given custom titles and avatar privileges would encourage less thought to be put into posts, causing forumwide upheaval and result in an utter spamfest because this forum has it's fair share of AK-wannabes and "needy" members.
