MirageD -> AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 12:42:58)

ok....i seriously can't believe that titan and his ED development staff have been left in the dust for soooooo long....i mean come on AE??? does the ED player base mean nothing to you? i have been a supporter of AE games for years and strongly feel like i'm being neglected now that i'm an ED fan/player.....i started to play ED because AE advertised it......now they seem to have dropped all support.....how do you all feel?

ED is supposed to have been part of AE since 2009....i have been a player of AE games since 2007....i'm not surprised that the ED release didn't make it this weekend. my guess is it's mostly due to the fact that there was a huge AQW birthday release this weekend .....from my understanding ....the ED testers didn't even start testing the ED release until friday afternoon and some of them were off playing AQW immediately after the ED delay announcement :( (saw this on twitter).... i feel certain that the ED team was drawn into the AQW release effort

is there a plan to recover from this poor planning/AE support problem (seems to be repeating itself week after week)? do you all have suggestions that may help the AE team to plan for support for the ED team??

seems to me, that AE should redirect some of the AQW support team over to titan....to support the re-build efforts of ED

~mira

Basicball -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 12:44:24)

are you forgetting about Hudelf? and Charfade?

DeathGuard -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 12:53:30)

I agree with you, it has been like 2-3 times they have advertise ED in their DNs, but let me ask: How many times does ED has advertise AQW's releases? [8|] Is actually sad you don't help your partners when they need your help, but I must call out some drawing artist/designers have helped a bit to ED. Hope this issue is resolve between them, because we players can't say them what to do.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 12:57:14)

@BB fulltime ED staff is Cindy(Story) NW(Art) Titan and Hudelf(Programming) we most not forget Charfade is only part time on ED and the rest of the time is free time or MQ

Now yes i feel AE could have given more aid to ED but as LB said AE likes to draw people from the player base to be part of the staff so that the staff enjoys what they are doing and not just being there for a paycheck which does make things a lot harder because this has been a game which is prone to not having a long hold on some players which shrinks the player base from which AE can use

goldslayer1 -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:01:25)

@cyber
i dont think art is as much as an issue as the coding and bug squashing thats necessary atm
im sure between NW and char they could do tons of weps and get them ready for a release.
however the coding part is a whole diff story.

DeathGuard -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:03:43)

@Gold: The reason why I honored those artists because are the only ones who have helped ED at least.

goldslayer1 -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:05:37)

@cyber
yes i have read that some aqw artist did help (dont mention names tho) ED with some of the items.
and it would be nice to have more featured art by other artist once in a while.

DeathGuard -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:08:17)

@Gold It would be absolutely awesome, weapons from Miltonius/Nulgath, Dage the Evil and Polistar should do some good, but none of them compares to NightWraith full designed weapons[8D]

Matgon -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:11:15)

@goldslayer: Dage made the Frostbolt blaster incase you didn't know, and J6 designed that varium bike that valery sells.

goldslayer1 -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:12:03)

@cyber
yeah dage made probably the best looking gun in ED, frostbolt.

@matgon
i did know, i just didn't wanna mention any names

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:13:16)

The assault bike was designed by J6 but that is the only AE help i know of that is noted(Charfade gear I do not count as AE help as she is part time ED)

If you look around in the Wiki it notes if someone else made it
Frostbolt designed by Dage(oddly enough skullfire does not have this note on it even though the look similar if not the same)
Assault bike designed by J6
Beast Reborn designed by DillBagel(Just to prove it even notes Player gear)

goldslayer1 -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:15:40)

@OWA
actually i cant remember who told me, but supposedly AE helped ED in the first couple of weeks of releases after ED signed with AE

Ranloth -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:52:56)

People should realise that lack of staff is reason for delay, not enough work being done by existing staff - which is obviously lacking a bit..
Quite a few of DF Staff went over to AQW, like Cysero, Alina, and I think Tomix did do few items but I doubt he works on AQW at all now.

If AQW is a MMO, and so is ED but PvP oriented - why can't we borrow some staff for sake of better releases, quicker and to be able to do more work (aka, promised features that take long to be made due to the lacks).. :|

Matgon -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 13:58:00)

@above: I also considered that a long time ago and I came up with 1 reasonable conclusion.... which is Titan being a bit conservative not open to change because I am sure if he had asked Artix for help he would of gotten it.

Ranloth -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 14:02:14)

It'd be good enough if we got few more, even part-time, programmers and maybe artists from other games. Releases could roll in more easily, more work could be done and probably more items being made!
Asking for help isn't that hard, you achieve more than trying to do things on your own and with a chance of failing.

Timsii -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 14:33:41)

If you think ED is neglected, did you even ever take a look to mechquest? Yeah..way worse.

DunkThatOreo -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 15:04:37)

MechQuest was always a fail just like warpforce lol and ae isn't just suppose to help 3 or 4
times a year. ED merged with ae meaning ae needs to help with atleast almost every major update
like the halloween update. Atleast that's how I see it.

Basicball -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 15:06:48)

^they 'gave' charfade and they 'bought' Hudelf, so they ARE helping

just not as much as some people would like (including me at most times)

Lord Nub -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 16:31:17)

AQW has more players than all other AE games combined so it is no surprise.

Games such as ED do not have much to offer at the moment for free players and rarely keeps paying players because the consumer realizes it takes too much over time to continue playing.

AQW has so many more things you can do for free and paying players with friends or by yourself. It takes virtually no skill or money therefore the free players enjoy it very much and may in turn venture forth to pay a little cash to improve their gaming experience which they can continue using as it will never be out of date like varium items on ED.

The art is fantastic and its a proven win for all ages especially the pre-teens. In the end it is AQW bringing more players to games like this just for their involvement with AE.

If the team could push faster releases and figure out a way to make a profit without upsetting the player base as much as they currently do, we would have a few more players.

I also fear for HeroSmash. Seems they have been falling behind and I see as much potential there as with AQW.

Shadronica -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 17:48:44)

Absolutely agree with you MirageD. I couldn't have said it better myself.

I live for the day that Artix rocks up to ED and apologises for being slack like he did with DragonFable years ago when he had most of his staff working hard to get AQW up and running. I doubt though that I will ever see him here.

It is wonderful that we finally have Hudelf after I asked the question "what happens if Titan gets sick or wants a holiday?".

Now we need someone to be Nightwraith's understudy too. Then, and only then can we start to see a game that resembles a game with a plan for the future.

Hotairballoons -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 18:52:16)

I don't play games that much anymore, mainly aqw and ED, and tbh...it used to be that I would play ED and AQW equally...recently it was all ED in anticipation of this release, I even stocked up on subway gift cards for varium, and wednesday comes...small release...but friday yay!...w8..no release...I just love this game so much but hate it so much too because of the lack of "game"...I mean pvp is cool but c'mon! This game, with expansion, I believe could one day match AQW-that's a big step I know but I see potential. I though AE did too...

superdiamond -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 19:16:23)

look how places in herosmash and ep.
in ep there have 7 or 8 places and ep is over two years.
herosmash have 25 places more or less and it only not a year old.

epic duel nid help as you can see.
never a game has late on the update.
thats a short list what they can do.
-they nid to do a weekly updates.
-they can do live event that can bring popularity to the game.
-start a storyline and many more.

Basicball -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 19:27:43)

^i take it you mean ED and not ep?

they try doing weekly updates, and are succeeding quite well (they might get delayed, but there's still roughly 1 or 2 updates/week)
live event?
there is a storyline (beginning of), i suggest you read it ( http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=17037654 ), and i suggest you go to oz and watch the video

Matgon -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 20:27:53)

quote:

The question is why?

And the answer is because they can deliver consistent realeses every friday, if ED had a team the size of AQW, ED would be the most played game on the whole of AE!

PumKing -> RE: AE Red Headed Step Child - ED (10/15/2011 23:05:17)

MirageD really does have a point, the only main thing that AE can say is that hey gave us an artist(s), sure they also gave us some mods for the forums, but I mean seriously, that is absurdly minor. And as for that whole "artist" thing, that isn't so major anyway, specially since it's the devs that have to CODE IN anything that the artists just whips out.
