The correct way to approach this would be to brainstorm how you guys as the ED community can help this situation. It can be anything ranging from offering constructive criticism on what needs to be done to right this ship or not playing this blame game. The latter can be easily done and would make this a much nicer community.

any ideas?

no flame(bai)ting and trolling ;)

Basicball -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 7:29:06)

i believe it could help the situation, if the devs had polls in this forum, where the awnsers would be possible future things, like
-more weapons
-more balance
-more quests
-faction stuff
-...

and people could just choose what they'd like to see next

T.600 -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 7:36:39)

^The opinion of the majority of the community isn't necessarily always the best opinion though. That is why we don't need polls for all those sorts of things, but I do agree that polls could be effective to make some of the devs' decisions easier. Especially things such as prior to Delta when the new classes were implemented. They should have asked for the opinion of the players instead of just doing what they felt was right.

We, as a community, have given plenty of constructive feedback but they can't let everyone's suggestions be put in-game. I have suggested many things to Cinderella and even Nightwraith himself, and they have been added to a list of all the suggestions and stuff that they plan on adding to the game. The reason why there's a sudden occurrence of negative feedback is because the devs aren't telling us what's going on. They say that bugs are the reasons for the update's delay, yet we get no previews of the upcoming weapons. They need to increase the amount of staff and player communication. I know that we have Cinderella who has been allocated that job although she is busy in real life and Nightwraith and Titan don't 'allow' her to say a lot of things. They certainly like keeping things secret, that's for sure...

MirageD -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 8:19:30)

i agree with calli.....we have tried this before....numerous times....but i'll give it another shot...(i won't attempt to address balance because there are a multitude of threads on that topic)

1) fix the lvl difference and rewards in the 2v2 battle mode
2) provide more communication from titan and nw in these forums
3) provide more development support to the ED team
4) come up with a better release planning mechanism, so as to avoid making estimates/promises that can't be kept

off topic.....it really bothers me when ppl come to the ED forums and berate our community.....i'm sure there is probably more complaining here than in other AE forums....but i'm also pretty sure that the other AE games don't have continual delays in game improvements and releases.....and like it has been said many times before....ED is a much more competitive game, therefore....a players gaming experience is more effected by delays.....we aren't just waiting for new costumes and weapons that all have the same effect as every other costume and weapon in the game.....anyway, just my two cents

MrBones -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 9:49:28)

Let me make something clear for all of you.

Forum community DO NOT represent the majority. I left the forum about 2 months ago. Who do I see when I come back ? The same 15 people.

Midnightsoul -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 10:42:50)

:O

theres alot of stuff that needs to be implemented...i can list em' all.

@MrBones
truly ur sure u missed some players? o.O

Basicball -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 10:56:03)

@mrbone: there's a diference between being and representing.

i think it would help, if we had 2 persons doing what cindy useually does, not that she's not capable (she's doing a very good job), but there's the time aspect, not to mention that she now does the storyline as well.
so i think some new blood might be good

Sparticus -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 11:06:49)

Polls are meaningless, we had a poll on the merger and that didn't go so well now did it?

Suggestions already have a forum, discussions on daily happenings also already do. There is no complaint forum.

I believe the intent of the original quote was a polite request to stop whining and behave. It's veiled as a request but if you comply with any part of the request other then "not playing this blame game. The latter can be easily done and would make this a much nicer community" you will find you are posting out of the proper thread and it will be closed up tight. Discussing your frustration, venting your frustration or exhibiting any signs that things are not going well is frowned upon. We are supposed to pretend all is well and just keep playing.

I understand both sides of the discussion and make this simple yet impossible request, open a complaint forum. Allow complaining in that forum. Moderate the forum heavily for trolls and flamers. Isolate the problem/problem makers and move them out of the discussion forum completely.

ND Mallet -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 11:08:31)

The poll on the merge was not for deciding to merge or not it was for seeing how people felt about the merge and seeing what they could change to make everyone like this forum better.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 12:19:36)

@Spart that is the point of LB cracking down on us way back when(how long has it been because it feels like forever ago) he said he was going to weed out the problems(there are a few rather big name players i haven't seen here since LB took over and all they ever did was complain so go LB)

Anyway a good thing that could be done is tell us what you are looking for in the balance topic otherwise we get what we have now or we can remove the balance topic and make a balance section(maybe do the debate section move of you must apply to enter to avoid fools trying to balance) with a section for TM, BM, BH, CH, Merc and TLM

Another pro to this would be it is direct focus we don't have TM fix, TLM fix, CH fix, TLM fix, BM fix, TLM fix. It would just be TM fix all in one topic so we can figure out the best way to fix skill A or to improve the power of the class overall(I only use TM because I am a TM)

Also this would save the Balance team the Devs and the Testers time from looking at all the really bad ideas(I wont list any but we know what they are) and just seeing things that might work or how the players think something would work better as instead of "OMg diz clazz beat me so nerf itzz"

seeing as this topic was a blank canvas i just dropped my thoughts on how things could be changed on this end to improve how we help the game

I'm fairly sure that I am reading my post correctly so let me state as a fact I never said "not for deciding to merge or not" but I did say it didn't go well and it was meaningless. Please don't put words in my mouth. If you require clarity perhaps this will help you. The poll was never prefaced by saying what its intent was and it was worded misleadingly to imply that it represented something it did not. Whatever the spin was after the fact is irrelevant to the discussion of its usefulness to the ED community. I restate my position that polls in general and this poll in particular are meaningless. I had hopes not to have to type a brick of explanation but it seems I'm always forced to defend my position pointlessly.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 17:42:05)

I like the idea of class sections if it means all those know-it-all tactical mercs will stay out of the other sections :)

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 17:43:27)

Those Know-it-all TLM's will be forced to stay out of the other sections unless they have something constructive to add to a different section

PivotalDisorder -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 17:44:20)

they all think they have something constructive to offer :)

Sparticus -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 17:50:16)

What will we do with class changing players that have experience in all builds and what will we do with players like me that have one of every class? Am I to be confined to the BH section? Hmmm, while that sounds appealing I'm not sure how well it will work.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 17:53:57)

Spart if you have something to add that is constructive then there would be no restrictions but if all you have to add is this kind of builds beats me sometimes so it must be OP'ed nerf it then stay out of the section until you have something constructive to say

PivotalDisorder -> RE: brainstorm (10/16/2011 18:08:49)

I was only making a joke Sparticus, the class sections will be open to everyone. like you, I play every class.

I am curious what the topic is about though [that isn't covered in other official topics or the suggestion section]

The Game -> RE: brainstorm (10/17/2011 6:25:20)

Alright, clearly some people here want to play hardball. For those of you who genuinely want to help out, I commend you; you are a credit to the ED community. As for the others, the whining never seems to stop. This is why we can't have nice things.
