Whoops. Must have posted wayyy too quickly. True, I only skimmed over your posts, thus I promptly take back what I said. Sadly though, i can't delete the post.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 22:28:59)

No problem Psibertus.

Lord Nub -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 22:31:20)

Lol Central Station is loaded with them just praying for something like that.

Retrosaur -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 22:42:39)

I love to do that. I made a clan (besides recruiting people who love minecraft) to help nonvars with builds, etc.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 22:52:23)

@Lord Nub: I could never coach someone who didn't aspire to be a full varium player, and I could never coach someone who needs walking through every single free offer.
to find a player that meets both criteria AND needs a mentor is gonna be a lot harder....so yes it narrows my choices :)

Lord Nub -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 22:56:06)

^ Never know dude. Not a single player in my faction had varium and most started out as super low levels. We've won a few badges and a few are now full varium beasts!

It's usually hit or miss but I never turn anyone away but if they don't show they have interest or end up being someone I can't talk to, perhaps because of age, we part ways :P

@below and?

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 23:02:59)

@LordNub: btw, I am the guy who said "I just don't like you" when you asked why no-one talks anymore, during a 2v2 battle :) no hard feelings

aqwshadowking14 -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 23:09:18)

I don't really understand what your really trying to say, but "Evolve or Die" is more of a build/battle thing. You need to adapt to your new surroundings by making new builds and the right choices during battles. These two things almost have nothing to do with teamwork, because most of our players just C/P builds. The strong builds get abused and then it gets nerfed, then the person that made the build makes a new build. The cycle continues, but with different people making the builds. I'm not saying C/P-ing builds are good or bad, because there seems to less variety in builds now. Well my main point is that Evolve or Die does not have much of anything to do with teamwork.

Lord Nub -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 23:15:34)

^ I'd say there's way more builds to choose from, all of which are successful if played correctly. Depending on the weapons that are released, I may even be changing class again because I've been looking at a way to make a super serial awesomeo build with a different class but I'm held back because of the primarys available :(

Also your right about the nerf issue. The fact is everyone will always have something to complain about and reasons why there not the best so they vent and yell in forums, facebook, twitter, and every other place. Peeps need to accept they just can't win 100% of the time and be happy to play the game.

Nothing is so overpowered atm that it can't be defeated. Never has been. Never will be.

Although the heal loop mage back in the day was nearly unbeatable we still lost to each other or the occasional stuns lol.

Stabilis -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/18/2011 23:22:13)

@#14,
Hey it's me, #13!

But seriously, eh em... The purpose of this thread is discussing the comparison of the Evolve or Die attitude to the underrated Evolve and Survive (or OWA's Evolve and Overcome) attitude. People are too willing to be pressured into the mainstream to avoid being the noob. What is forgotten is the realization of friends and supportive people there to share advice.

So no, I am not comparing Evolve or Die with teamwork, in fact it is what demotes the beauty of variety and teamwork here in ED.

BlueKatz -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/19/2011 0:14:12)

Personally I think "Evolve or Die" is overused, misunderstood and wrongly used

ND Mallet -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/19/2011 0:20:30)

My personal opinion is that we focused too much on strategy evolution instead of evolving our attitudes as well. Instead of making a counter attitude to the attitudes that are the problem of the game, some people just copied those attitudes. Right now, the balance team(mods) is working on reducing the effectiveness of those problem attitudes and promoting a more balanced and nice attitude. But sadly, as with all PvP games, balance is never a guarantee and we can only hope the balance team can at least fix the problem attitudes for the time being.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/19/2011 1:17:06)

If everyone acted online the way they did in real life, attitude problems would be reduced for sure :)

but hey, can't expect people to actually be themselves when they don't actually wanna be themselves.

king julian -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/20/2011 1:18:42)

I can say this happened to me cause i got a very good build from a friend and that build shot me up to lvl 32.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/20/2011 1:22:53)

@King Julian: whenever I see your name I do a King Julian impression :P as a fellow Englishman I love Sacha :)

xxomegafaustxx -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/22/2011 1:00:06)

Evolve in theory means how one becomes gradually accustoms to the pressures and conditions derived from the atmosphere/environment one inhabits. Simply, it means adapting to the certain pressures from ecological competitors, factors and changes that condition one to do things more effectively and efficiently. The ecology for natural competition pressures the ecological agents to become more efficient; thus selective pressure is present. With the certain builds, adaptations and also skills a player hones, it will determine how he/she is successful in the the gaming platform. Certain methods may yield more effective to others and therefore, may prescribe the standard for selectivity.

Success is measured by a means of categorically defining oneself on an aristocracy of level, influence and power. Players are more visible, famous and celebrated if they fulfill the 3 categories individually or collectively.

To die means to succumb to the pressures from the ecology or remove oneself from the ecology of competition. If one avails to the conditions present, he/she is removed entirely from the ecology and rendered to be a unfit competitor for resources. The principle of Darwin's "Survival of the Fitness", applies here.

Baron Dante -> RE: Evolve or Die (10/22/2011 1:37:24)

"Evolve or die", huh?

I would say it is completely true, however, that doesn't apply as far as to the way people act. Just when they evolve, there is no need to become rude and obnoxious.

Evolve or die is very true for games where the balance tends to change, which is to say, a majority of this type of games. In ED, whenever changes come aboard, your class may be nerfed, or buffed, or other classes can suddenly become stronger (Or even, though unlikely, we get something completely new without any changes, AKA a new, very working build).

When this happens, as much as it annoys me to say this, will be a flood of complaining. "This is UP, that is OP, blarrghphlphpl". That's just plain wrong. Sure, if there are serious issues with balance, it can be discussed about constructively. However, in the meantime, you are to adapt (And incase there really isn't such balance issue, you don't do it in the meantime). The game changes, you have to do so too to keep at the top.

It's not like you made a build when the game began and could've kept winning steadily at all times without changing.

So, your precious skill got nerfed? So what? Adapt to it. Evolve, become better, stronger... or fail.

...I'm believe I know what I talk about. Not once have I changed the core of the build (SC TM). However, what it looks like now is vastly different from what it looked in the beginning. As changes are made to the game, I always make sure that I check my build over again, in case something could be improved overall, or made to counter certain new, future builds.

A good example is one person I fought today. He had maxed HA, but he lacked the Dex for it to work. They don't follow changes, they don't attemot to evolve, at least not on their own. They are to fail until they realize the need of evolution.

tl;dr: I have no idea what I just wrote.
