so how do u add an image
i got as far as [image][/image] ... what next?

You must upload the image to an image hosting site like photobucket, then copy the direct link and put it between the image tags. Note that generally speaking it is better to use link tags instead of image tags since it lags the forums less. Rules regarding images are forum specific, so be sure to make sure they are allowed.
