Dendavex -> Passing the ball (11/2/2011 7:04:08)

Guys there's always one things that gets me extremely confused about epic duel is that when a class gets nerfed people say it UPED and some other class is stronger than the other.Complainers always complain to nerf a class then to buff another one vice versa besides that
if we could all unite as a community and think things fairly and admit when one class is overpowered or weaker than the others this game would be much enjoyable and the community would grow in trust [:)]
Do you agree with me if so why?
If not then well whats your reason :)

9001WaysToLaugh -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 9:47:51)

In my opinion there should be a thread where people post about how they feel that their class needs to change in order to be balanced. For those who are playing as an op class, they could post how they think their class could be nerfed without it ruining their chances of winning. Those using up classes could post what makes them up, and how their class could be buffed without making it op. Then other people in another thread (two threads, one for oped classes, another for uped classes) would discuss what other people are saying and try to come up with a solution or at least reach an agreement on where the classes stand.

davex, i understand how u feel about TLM's getting nerfed. it's just that they're still slightly overpowered so i think they're only going to move the passives to tier two and tier four moves. that's all. i have a 90% win ratio with blood mage and cyber hunter when i used those two classes but i still wonder what happened to my missing 5 percent in my win ratio. >:O

Dendavex -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 10:19:03)

@Bloodknight
A team is not team if one player holds the ball for the entire game is it?
I dont mind TLM getting nerfed just when ED says nerf we know what they mean (nerf into oblivion)

Lord Nub -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 14:12:42)

^ Actually we don't know that.

Where did they nerf anything to oblivion? The heal loop mage was nerfed fairly along with the BH's.

The support mage remained on TOP until the release of Tac Merc.

It was blatantly obvious it would be overpowered and someone messed up big time with that idea. There attempting to make the class work with the two passives and the heal was a big step.

Problem is everyone else feels the same pain when a universal skill is nerfed.

The main issue with the heal nerf is that Str Tac Mercs are able to dish out the most damage over time while taking the least over any class or build and considering they heal as much as everyone else for the same amount of energy, other builds have nowhere to turn for a break without a block.

Tac Merc tanks are pretty good against them but once again that's a Tac Merc. What about the other classes?

Now it is obviously possible to win, but it takes a ton of strategy and luck to defeat good str tac mercs and many people understand that. The requirements did not hurt anyone but support once again.

Str tac mercs and Tank Tac Mercs remain untouched as far as this nerfing is considered. If anything the Hybrid 42 dex requirement helped the bad Str TaM's get better because they are forced to have higher dex and therefore hit more.

Hopefully with all the defensive builds running about they will allow skill abusers to do a little more damage. As we continue to level and get more stat points, our skills like plasma bolt, grenades, and multi's are becoming less and less useful.

There is just not enough creativeness or variety in this game. They nerf the other classes creativeness with insane requirements and cause damaging skills to increase at such a slow rate noone wants to do it and most of those that do are seen as noobs because they have nothing left once they are out of energy.

Instead of nerfing Tac Merc's any further perhaps cap the damage on damaging skills without slowing them down. This would hurt Tac Merc's and bring more of a variety to the game once again.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 14:42:54)

the tac merc skill tree changes are still coming.

until then, the discussion of balance issues regarding that class are kinda wasted.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 15:18:40)

If we changed up the way the Balance topic worked we might be able to come together and get something done but right now the balance topic is a mess and frankly i feel bad for the balance team because they have one heck of a hard job

Dendavex -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 15:45:31)

^THATS why the community should argue less and know when their wrong this is for the devs and the players to know

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 15:50:14)

a lot of the fixes to balance were never suggested by the players and at the end of the day, the ED Balance team decides the balance, not the people posting in the
balance topic. if they know what they are looking for then taking the best ideas from that topic isn't that much effort. takes less than an hour to read 20 pages.

they have all read books, the topic is nothing by comparison.

@Dendavex: if the tac mercs would just leave the forum, you might get that wish. but we all know, the players who ALWAYS jump to the latest OP build/combo
will always defend them to the death, even if it means they lose all respect and look like total clowns. not naming anyone, expecially not Goldslayer1 :)

@OWA

I 2nd this.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 18:15:55)

like how people like my idea and have no idea what it is

nico0las -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 20:14:16)

Unfortunately, balance can't be achieved. There will ALWAYS be someone, or a group of people, who can come up with a powerful new build to destroy the competition with.
How often were the hunters nerfed, but remain the top class (please don't argue with that, they are, and we all know it)? Because some things can't be done. You can't for example, put a defense debuff and expect people to not abuse their strength, or make support so useful and expect no one to abuse it.
Balance is an idea. Sadly, this idea, this goal, can't be obtained. The best we can do is evolve, to develop to meet the requirements of one's society.

"Evolve or die." After much thought, and going back and forth, I've concluded that, although it's a cheesy line, it defines ED now more than ever. You have to evolve to be able to compete. You can't win them all, but you can do your best. Humans, for example, evolved to be the dominant species on this planet, and it wasn't achieved by people setting rules. They weren't the biggest, or the fastest, or the strongest. They were smarter. They adapted to their surroundings, and spread like wild fire. You have to accept change, and adapt to it.
If strength tacticals are ticking you off, well I hear dexterity mages are pretty powerful.
Support merc? Try a strength build, it kills them off pretty easily.

You can't have a 100% win record. You can try your best, but nothing is perfect.

For the last time, evolve or die.

@below Not true. There are players who don't enhance their gear and could pummel me in a duel (Me being a full varium 33, them being non varium). You have to know your skills. Don't be scared to try new things. Enhancements are an advantage, not a necessity.

@psibertus If that was directed at me, I want you to know I'm a cyber hunter. OPed or not, I wouldn't switch to Tactical.

AQWPlayer -> RE: Passing the ball (11/2/2011 21:36:42)

Evolution<Varium+Enhancements

Midnightsoul -> RE: Passing the ball (11/3/2011 2:09:32)

@nic0las

um...dude...i dont think it's like that...if BM's were to have an energy drain move, they would be on top. although, tlm is still top rightnow... ._.

Dendavex -> RE: Passing the ball (11/3/2011 6:19:47)

@Nic0las
um Dude you cant win everything which true but TLM needs a nerf im a TLM I tried to avoid being TLM i was Cyber hunter,Bounty Hunter,Mercenary they all failed to match to the power of TLM I PERSONALLY wouldn't mind TLM getting nerfed to oblivion because it will be fun to you use and more of challenge.
One thing is that even nonvarium TLM can beat varium(ed) which shows the gap is closing (sort of).Oh and one more thing evolve or die
is a pathetic statement its like in the real world get a job or live in poverty not everyone can be as smart as Einstein,who even made that statement in ED it's more like ''join the dark side (overpowered) or join the bright side (underpowered)''

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Passing the ball (11/3/2011 13:37:11)

@Dendavex: you just gotta ignore those "kids" who say evolve or die after picking the OP build/class combo.
and I say "kids" because they might be adults, but have the mentality of a school yard kid who wanted to be a bully.

Dendavex -> RE: Passing the ball (11/3/2011 14:44:17)

@psibertus good one xD
