What do you think about the Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper?

Should the special be followed the type of the weapon(Energy or Physical) instead of Physical only? Or?
13% Chance to cast Jack-O-Fire
Note: The special of the Jack-O-Fire should be added since there is only Delta weapon specials in the Weapon specials section. :p

  • Feel free to discuss. Thanks. :)

I have the Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper, but I don't like to use them anymore for these three reasons:
    1. When you intend to use a skill(Maul, Berzerker, Atom Smasher, Malfunction, Smoke Screen etc, getting the special might break your strategy.
    2. When you intend to finish a battle with an Enegy weapon against a malfed opponent with high defense, getting the special might delay the battle.
    3. If you're striking with an energy weapon, getting the special might give you less damage than your strike would be when facing an opponent with high defense.

    2. When you intend to finish a battle with an Enegy weapon against a malfed opponent with high defense, getting the special might delay the battle.(yeah thats a problem i think special should be use able like skills, cause it also have a spot near robot buttons)
    3. If you're striking with an energy weapon, getting the special might give you less damage than your strike would be when facing an opponent with high defense.(same with 2)

I also wonder why Harvest Reaper change to energy staff, i thought its gonna be physical thats why i bought, i already had dragonic wep smae like harvest :(

Drianx -> RE: Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper (11/7/2011 6:30:45)

Those weapons are really messed up. I bought them as tech mage, and enhanced the Harvest Reaper which was an energy staff, because I was sure it would morph into an energy claws for Cyber Hunter. But then I changed class and guess what? It was physical. I think this was made on purpose in order to milk money from people.

That was a 10k varium pack that I bought on this event after a long purchase break, but since I got tricked like this, I won't buy varium again EVER.

tell me about it -.- would be very helpful especially against a tank merc with phys armor when you im doing 20 damage on energy strike then it does the jackothiny and does 8 damage since he has about 50 defense in total -.-

Sparticus -> RE: Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper (11/7/2011 7:14:54)

Technically, getting hit with a pumpkin is a physical attack. Getting blown up is also a physical attack. Isn't that what the special does?

In any case, I suggest that the button for the special do more then just tell you its available, why not make the special something you can activate after 1 turn with a 3 turn cool down and be done with it. Make the special button depressable just like any other weapon or skill button. Alternately, just make the attack follow the type of the weapon.(less in favor of random attacks so I prefer this less) Both alternatives make more sense then the way it is now.

rej -> RE: Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper (11/7/2011 8:07:34)

I agree, there are two things i feel could improve the skill and make it worth using.

1: make the special deal the same type of damage as the club you are weilding does.
2: make it so the skill can work on all strike related abilities (in other words, it would deal an extra 13% damage on skills like maul, frenzy, bluedgon, and massacre.)

dont give up -> RE: Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper (11/7/2011 20:43:51)

well they should make jack o fire like a skill that you could use it when ever you want cus it does mess up a strategy. (if this happen they could make jack o fire with 4 cool down), like lets say u malf and strike but instead it do jack o fire and ur about to win after that energy strike. [;)]

I don't like the physical special on the energy staff and I don't like that the Harvest Reaper wasn't a physical staff when its wristblade and maul form are physical. I bought it thinking it was a physical staff which was really annyoing. Same with the Spectral Reaper being a physical staff when its wristblade and maul forms are energy though I didn't buy the Spectral Reaper.

JUST MAKE A GLOW IN THE DARK PUMPKIN! jeez, problem solved.

Smackie El Frog -> RE: Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper (11/8/2011 9:55:28)

I'm a huge fan of the Spectral club, but AVA I believe the specials only go off on strike attacks. Which would take care of your 2nd issue with the weapons :P

Digital X -> RE: Harvest Reaper and Spectral Reaper (11/8/2011 10:15:10)

I do find it a bit strange that the energy club's special is physical as well as the physical club. I would have thought it would have been energy to match the weapon type. Even though i don't use str builds any more i still find the special good from time to time.
