As we all know, mercenaries are now seriously underpowered. Compared to Tech Mage and Bounty Hunter, they are complete crap. Especially since Field Medic was nerfed so not even a support build can stand much of a chance now. I myself am one and I find it extremely frustrating to use. What can we do to improve it? Should it get some skill buffs or maybe even a new skill? Discuss

Correction: Mercenaries beat nonvar bounty hunters. Any day.

It's really hard to outtank someone that can put relatively no dex and spam tech, and be able to bunker buster you continually.

You're right. For the most part, at least. Sometimes supp mercs like to use the crit aux+crit multi combo on me lolz. Other than those lucky times, they are indeed seriously underpowered.

Not really, they just look bad compared to tlm
I have a lvl 26 merc with no armor but I can beat mages 2lvls higher with 20k armor and better weps.
Tip: never neglect atom smasher, keep Surg at lvl 1

@hydedxlord That depends which non-varium hunters. I have some non varium friends that I have trouble beating, and I'm varium (I'm not a mercenary though).

Mercs are weak because they have a lack of passives, and their skills tend to take up huge mana.

Before TLM came out everyone was complaining about the overpowered nature of mercenaries. Now, mercenaries are just as OP as before. The only difference is that they look extremely weak compared to TLMs.

^ Yeap, compared to tlm, normal mercenary are seriously UPed. Any normal merc who have 50k credits or 900 varium will definitely choose to switch to tlm.

Mercs arent UP-ed, but cuz theres a way better version of it (TLM), it looks so weak

Static isn't passive. It requires activation and has cooldown. Cost is 0.
Learn to make difference between those 2.
@ngshuyi: I never said it was or wasn't better,as many I do have my opinion which is irrelevant for current debate.
And as your colleague,you are also confusing cost with passiveness. If something costs 0,but still requires action from user to be executed,its reactive thus not passive.

Ok,so at what energy cost would that skill stop being "semi-passive" and started being active?
Cause apparently definition of passiveness and "semi-passiveness" is based on cost.

people used a str merc build back in the day that wins people in 2 -3 rounds.... high str use max stun and a lv1 bezerka.. :)
idk why people dont use it no more.. its awesome :D

If u say it based on cost then theres only passive and non-passive, there wont even be a semi-passive. And i dont wanna be lame and argue with u the definition of passive. If u wanna win, by all means. Idc.

It's not arguing or winning discussion . Its setting standards. Shall we start calling deadly aim 1/3 passive skill as it can be "used" only every 3rd turn?

Mercenary did a fine job against the other 2 original classes before TLM, it's just that you feel it's UP because there's no point in being a merc anymore when TLM is everything a merc is and more.

I already said i dont mean passive. Semi-passive meaning it isnt really a passive but has the idea of a passive k. If u dont get the idea its fine. U just dont get me, do u? I know that its not passive, ik. What i simply mean is the idea of it, idk how to call it so i call it semi-passive. Simple.

Anyway im not gonna reply to ur next comment as it will just lead to a flame war.

Essentially what I'm hearing is this:

Ngshuyi94 is making lame arguments and trying to be cool.

Rakdos is making really good arguments. In terms of passives, it's just black or white. There's no gray in the middle. A skill that requires cooldown is a NON-PASSIVE. Passive means it's constantly working for you no matter what turn. If your definition of semi-passive is something that helps some turns, then Reflex Boost must be a semi-passive (because for only 3 TURNS it gives you back energy). And Bunker Buster must be a semi-passive, because it does damage with a crit chance "at one point" during the game.

Oh yeah.

People keep saying mercs are UP'd. Wanna know why? Kids like those are just too lazy to work for creds. They want the merc road to be easier so that they can easily get their 50k creds to change to tac merc. Compare Merc to tech mage, to bounty hunter. A fully supplied merc (which I have seen countless times), with New City Guard E and Pirate Day weps are easily better than nonvarium bounty hunters and tech mages. Especially with intimidate, that skill is killer to bounty hunters, and blood shield, which actually helps restore back resistance. All this combined with guys who spam dex and tech to create ultra tanks basically mean losses for the other opponents. I'm sure the people on this forum are the ones with basic clubs only, and think that the "world" is so "unfair".

Last time I checked; Mercs were the Op'ed class; until TLM came.

BH
the all the other class is completely useless.
Note; the heal nerfted everyone; excluding strength TLM because the don't use heal.
So no; mercs are underpowered compared to TLM; and you might make the argument that BH and TLM have smoke; what about the other 3 classes?

Now TLM can tank and have strength builds; +13 hybrid

Mercs can tank both dex and tech; not sure how mercs are Up'ed.

I haven't loged into the game for a while now; and am guessing High support mages is officially dead right? the only one last good build mages could use.

This game is completely jerked up; last time I fought a TLM, I only lasted 3 rounds; and 2 of those rounds I used to put on reflex boost, and heal; but yet it was still pointless.

Do you know what I hate the most; the devs intentionally do things like this (make classes like TLM; Make weapons with alot of support -Azreal (Heal Loop); add pointless crap like enhancement (Tank; Strength; HP builds); knowing this, the keep on doing it; until every switches to that class; and the get alot of money; and every gets annoyed and the act like the give a dam what any of us thinks. Either what i just said, or ED has very terrible testers;because their is no way you can freaking tell me that TLM was a fair class when it was being tested.... if this was their final test of TLM being a fair class, I wonder what it was before; hybrid, reroute, blood lust; frenzy; deadly aim.

Am so disgusted the way this game turned!
