King FrostLich -> The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 6:43:31)

If any of you has just realized that there is actually "free" varium being rewarded after doing one quest, well there actually is. The Fire Night quest actually gives you the varium IF you sold the bazooka. However, it only gives 5 varium and a few credits(I sold it at Mirv) so I was thinking what happens if this game had more quests that involve more rewards that give varium? I'm sure that it would give so much excitement to EVERY person in EpicDuel but the varium reward should be low in order to prevent players from demanding more quests containing varium rewards and if players are smart, they should reserve it for varium items at high levels.

drinde -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 6:58:27)

And! You forgor Golden Gun Gal. [:)]

Tho I feel it's mistake, since the Energy Katana's Var is removed...

BlueKatz -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 8:01:22)

Idk if its good idea. I think we should have at max 50 "Free Varium" so they can change hair or something...

King FrostLich -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 8:03:00)

100-300 can be the best but I'm sure the noobs would be fascinated as well and will be willing to buy low leveled varium gear unless they are smart.

jegaggin -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 8:35:22)

i think you should have enough varium to buy 1 990 varium equipment.

King FrostLich -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 8:48:05)

quote:

1 990 varium equipment.

And for a second I thought you meant One thousand nine hundred ninety varium equipment till I realized it was actually one 990 varium item and actually its 995 not 990. But yes, that can be good seeing that at least 1 varium item will be good enough and the enhancements will be decided upon the person himself/herself whether he/she will buy varium or use his/her credits for it. I'd say this can make ED fascinating.

ND Mallet -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 8:55:32)

The problem with adding multiple varium quests is that it will eventually lead to higher varium prices and less value for your buck. Z-tokens are an excellent example of this. Like this item right here. 50 USD gets you 20k tokens and that is over half the amount you spent for. The real kicker of z-token items is AQ's strong belief in the best equipment being F2P, but that item is an exception since it's considered among the best weapons in the game. But not all z-token items are like that either.

King FrostLich -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 9:05:00)

Well it is the devs' decision to also make these quests. They can create these quests to make people very happy but at a very limited amount just like BlueKatz said in order to prevent hoarders from being too greedy and overrich.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: The first ever varium reward quest and more soon? (11/10/2011 9:43:17)

this idea is good for the ppl u need atleat 25 varium ....

the 2 new varium sell back quest weapons can be enhanced and sold for EXTRA varium !!!! [:D]

Midnightsoul -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 9:54:54)

its probably to let non vars be able to use varium hairsyles because the totaled up varium actually might be enough

jegaggin -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 10:27:57)

@nd mallet but in adventurequest you can invest 500 tokens into a tent and gain back tokens. Thats what I did. Now from a tent now I have the top housing and will probably sell it when its got enough tokens for me to buy some kickass stuff ;D. FYI my house i just checked is worth... 23383 tokens. :D

ND Mallet -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 10:36:24)

@jegaggin Prices were high way before housing came out and those have only made pricing worse. They had to lower the sellback on houses several times because the staff decided that prices of items would go way to high if they didn't step in.

jegaggin -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 10:45:35)

XD i've kept upgrading my house since 2003 when i first bought one :D. Also i did not know that.well i still wish they'd let houses grow in value it would help I think anyway...

Sipping Cider -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 10:49:32)

I think its a good idea to allow a little free varium. After all, anyone can get free varium anyways from filling out surveys and stuff. Plus, a little taste of what varium can do will entice free players to upgrade.

zion -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 11:24:38)

Totally agree.
A bit of free varium (really small) here or there can be exciting for a f2p - It encourages people to take part in events/missions and can add to the popularity off the game.

Sparticus -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 12:01:05)

Using the housing issue of AQ in this discussion is appropriate. Houses appreciate in value daily while getting a bit of varium here and there as a sell back is a one time thing. You can only do a mission once, win the prize once and get the minimal varium once. You can have your house appreciate infinitely, sell it at will and make tokens endlessly.

The DEVs can control the amount of resalable items and thus control the amount of varium available to the F2P. Allowing just enough free varium into the system to perhaps purchase a single high level weapon per year. What a great way to enhance the F2P players experience.

ND Mallet -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 12:16:31)

I don't mind a little free varium every great deal of time but you should have to really work and wait for the quests if you want to get enough varium for a high level item. A free varium item every year could be a bit problematic to the varium pricing issue.

My Name is Jake -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 12:34:18)

I think there should be more ways of getting varium (and a decent amount of it) in game to make up for the horrendously overpriced enhancements. Something like Ballyhoo could be put in ED.

Sparticus -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 12:55:14)

One varium item per year per player would unbalance the cost structure of this game? This year alone I purchased over 30. Giving one single item to each player once per year wouldn't even make a dent IMHO. The most likely item purchased would be an armor. The armor would take a kings ransom to enhance and then that would only make the F2P player less then equal but only slightly. I can't think of any idea to close the varium gap that works as well and brings good will to the players and creates game interest.

There would be no reason to raise prices ever. To ease into the idea and see how it would work out lets make just enough missions to earn one item and then make no further. One item per person per lifetime if you prefer. See how that goes and move on from there.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 15:04:41)

@Soul if you enhance a low level varium weapon that you get from this quest and get more Varium back that is lame because if you enhance a F2P piece of gear with credits you get the value it was worth before the enhancements and no extra

rayniedays56 -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 19:23:56)

GUYS! Just go to your Artix Master login and do the darn offers for free varium! Quit whining about the Varium gap and do the offers!
Jeez

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 19:24:39)

raynie not everyone can do free offers its a sad fact of life

Laces -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 22:02:00)

@Raynie

Varium gap? Its quite unbalanced right now. F2P's have barely any chance to win. Most cannot access offers from the countries or parents won't allow them to. This argument has been made before.

nico0las -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/10/2011 23:26:52)

We can't go giving more than, say 50 varium per quest. That kills the use of varium. I have no problem with people changing their look. Heck, I've always wondered why we have to pay varium in the first place.

Not 990 varium, though.

That's approximately 5 USD. You can't give that kind of real-life money to F2P, seeing as that won't make them F2P. That will ALSO drive them to ask for more. We will have a problem similar to fame: "I NEED MORE OF THE FAMEZ VARIUMZ!!!"

Not only will that cause a headache to the devs, it's probably a pain to track, and judging from how many scammers there are out there, the odds are not in our favor.
I'm pro-free varium, but like everything good in life, it must be in moderated amounts.

Stop thinking about the varium-non varium gap and look at what you're saying at large. There are still players who are extremely powerful and who DON'T need varium.
One free item per year will cause HAVOC in this game. It's going to utterly destroy balance, in case it already hasn't been, destroy the concept of F2P, and cause a migraine of epic proportions to the team and the community.

A max of 50, maybe 10-15 quests/possible varium sources, that seems fair.
If you want something nice, save up. It's always been that way, why should it change?

DOOM PREIST 88 -> RE: The first ever varium reward quests and more soon? (11/12/2011 13:32:50)

If it was possible it would probably have to be something major? Like Kill 40 Bio-Hazards...

Kill NightWraith, Titan or maybe a lvl 30+ NPC 5 Times?

Something Like that...
