VI "Umm... I never got to know your name," the cyborg said shyly, putting his claws behind his back, "I guess I kinda got caught up on trying to help you at least get some peace with such a hard time like this." "It's ok, hon," Demolicious said back to him, smiling sweetly, "You thought of the more important thing first, and that's what counts to me." The cyborg started blushing, almost like he just met her for the first time, and she couldn't help but think that he looked rather cute in that stance. "Everyone calls me by Demolicious or Demo for short, but... you can call me by my real name if ya want." "Thanks, Demo, but I don't wanna blow your cover if someone heard me say your real name... ya know, seret identities, and all that." She giggled and put an arm around him, while his smile widened noticably. "Yeah, good point. Still, if you want to just lemme know. I'm gonna go get things ready, in case... well..." "I understand. Me and Frank will still be here if you need us for anything." "You're not gonna run and hide if someone shows up?" The cyborg gently starts holding her wrist. "No, I'm not going anywhere. The city needs to know that the villains still respect the youth, and that includes you, dear." Demolicious started leaning on the cyborg, then he put his free arm around her back gently. Despite having a cast iron shell, so to speak, his metal body still felt warmer than she expected. "Aww, you're so sweet... looks like Frank gave you a bigger heart than I thought." "Perhaps," Frank strted to jest, "But I had to keep it small enough so it could actually fit with all the other parts I had to replicate." "Well at least you didn't put it on my arm," the cyborg witfully replied, making them both chuckle. "I dunno, hon; you did kinda fall for me rather easily, even when I gave you a chance to help. Well anyway, I better go through a few things so I'll talk with you guys later." She briefly touched the cyborg's lips, then he lets her go over to her dad's room and converses with Frank for a while. About an hour and a half later, there was a knock on the door, which Frank decided to answer it while the cyborg listened intently... but he noticed Frank looking up high. "My, this is... unexpected," Frank said, full of surprise, I didn't realize how far the news would actually travel. I do hope, though, you will be able to fit in this house." "I've been through smaller spaces than this," the other person said, with a female voice, "I'll be fine, but I did come here to see the teen though... just to help ease her pain a little; I know how hard it has to be for her to go through something like this." "Very well," Frank replied, "But you wouldn't be the first one to help her in this time of need. Follow me." The woman managed to crawl into the house, who had to be at least ten feet tall, and Frank started to show her where Demolicious was. "Oh, and this is the one who was helping her all this time," he said as they paused when they saw the cyborg, "He's really been taking her well-being seriously." "From how he looks," the very tall woman said, who had dark skin and was wearing some casual clothing with a stethoscope around her neck, "I'd have to guess he came from Skulldeep. Never thought I'd see a villain helping a hero out." "Only because Demo's so young," the cyborg said, "Otherwise I would've easily left her to deal with it herself. You're not gonna believe this, but it is part of the few rules we have down there." "Well then," the tall woman said nervously, "I guess it is nice to meet you... I'm Doctor Susan with the Super City hospital." "And believe it or not, my name is Frank Stein," the middle aged man said while scratching his head, "I suppose you'll be here a while since you plan to give condolence, so I hope you won't be too uncomfortable." "Like I said," Susan replied, "I'll be fine, just let me go outside to strech my legs once in a while." Frank motions the doctor to continue to where Demolicious is, and they walk over to her dad's room while the cyborg tries to find a method to recharge his power supply; not that it's low, but it would be better to do it right away in case he does run low at a more inconvenient time. Eventually he saw a phone charger lying on the kitchen counter, so he picked it up and looked at it for a moment. Curious to see if it would work, he tried to see if he had a slot that would fit the phone charger and found a slot that resembled the charger the closest, then plugged it in. After that, he plugged in the actual plug into a nearby outlet, then felt a faint, but constant, tingle on his left side in the spot where he plugged the charger in. It seemed to be working to recharge the power supply, but it sure isn't doing it very fast. After almost a half hour, Frank, Demolicious and the tall doctor come walking back over to the living room where they see the cyborg recharging. "Oh, well this is a surprise," Frank said, "I didn't think your energy would be low already." "It's not, Frank," the cyborg replied, "I'm just playing it safe." "So, he's not truly human then," Susan said to Frank, "Is that what you're saying, Frank?" "Yes, he isn't really human. I tried to replicate it as much as possible, however, and it seems to be a success so far. He's even willing to help Demolicious whenever possible." "In that case," the tall doctor said while sitting on the floor looking at the cyborg, "He might bring knew meaning to a living computer. The hard drive could be like long term memory and the two cameras could be like eyes. Microphones could be like the ears and the RAM could be the short term memory... hmm, what else could be comparable?" Demolicious wasn't interested in the rambling and the cyborg was actually getting annoyed, which Frank easily noticed. "I suggest you two pay attention," Frank tells them, "Or I might have to discipline you." "Aw, come on," Demolicious complained, "We're not in school, and it's not like we're gonna benefit from this at all..." "Suit yourself then," Frank said to her as he stood up, "Well, I've got to finish working on that fuel solution for the destroyers, and maybe even check up on Davinci, so I have to return to Skulldeep. I'll see you all sometime tomorrow, perhaps." "Ok, Frank," the cyborg said to him as they wave goodbye, "Take care." Frank gestured a partial salute, then walks out of the house. Dr. Susan, unbeknownst to the pair, nodded like she knew what she was supposed to do, and continued what she was saying. "Hmm... oh, yeah, the CPU might be the brain, or at least the thought process, and-- that's odd. I didn't expect actual organs to be with the machine parts." "Yeah, well, Frank didn't make me a cyborg for nothin'," the clueless machine tells her, not even bothering to ask how she knows. "I see... I guess he has thought of everything, then." Demolicious started blushing for seemingly no reason. "Yep, even gave me a pair of lungs that I don't really need. How's that for authen--" Demolicious tugged at the cyborg and whispered something into his ear, then the cyborg immediately became embarrassed and could never finish his sentence. "Erm... wait, what?" was all he could utter before the informal doctor continued the very unexpected subject... right up to the point where they both ran off into seperate rooms and shutting the doors, completely red in their faces. "What?" the doctor asked with slight concern, "Was it something I said?" "Just shut up!" they both shouted through the door. "Geez, tough crowd... alright then, since it's getting late, I'm going to head on home. Take care... I guess." When the informal and very straightforward doctor realized they won't respond, she just simply left the house, to the relief of the dumbstruck and embarrassed pair. Minutes passed before the cyborg slowly opens the door to 'his' room and carefully looks out for the doctor who is long gone, then goes over to Demolicious' door and knocks. "Um, Demo...? You wanna talk?" "Is she gone?" "Oh, yeah, she ain't here." "Alright then. Come on." The cyborg somehow managed to use just one claw to open the door, but immediately shuts it after he enters her room. They aren't exactly willing to risk another identically embarrassing event. He tried to sit on the bed next to the nervous vigilante, who was now in her purple pajamas, but he soon realized he might accidentally break the bed with his rather extreme weight, so he sits in front of her instead. "Alright, first things first," he started immediately, "She definitely should've been more considerate with the whole thing." "Can't argue with that, but I think she shoulda just dropped it entirely. You can't just up and talk about somehing like that so openly. What if she started all that if she was out in public? If we were in public with her?" "Ugh, I probably would've kicked her down for it, especially if we were who she was talking with." They continued attempting to explain the doctor's reasoning for a while, during which Demolicious pulled down the window shades, but eventually they suddenly stopped, trying to get the subject out of their minds, but alas, the more they tried, the more the subject came back. "I just can't get rid of it," Demolicious finally admits, "And it's all because of that stupid doctor." "I wanna nice, long chat with her tomorrow about this... maybe she'd tell us just what the blackened hamstrings she was thinking when she started the whole mess." "I don't want to lose sleep over this, hon, but... I just don't know. We know we love each other, but..." The cyborg sighs rather heavily as he stands up and holds Demo's wrist. "Look, we can argue about this all night, but we'd never be able to find any answers... and it'll keep bugging us until we do something about it, so if you're absolutely sure you want to, we can try to put this to rest once and for all." Demolicious thought about it for a while, making sure to cover every possibility and outcome in her head, then finally sighs, stands up and holds the cyborg's wrist firmly. "Alright. If I'm not gonna get any sleep until this problem's fixed, then I guess we'll have to try. Just one thing, dear." "What's that?" "Remind me to shower after this."
