Glais -> Question on Bans (11/22/2011 3:39:39)

First off if asking about bans is...not allowed, my mistake, I had no idea.

Anyhow, I'd heard there were differences in someone being Banned and that Banned! would mean a permanent ban.
Is this true? If so, how long does a "Banned(no !)" last?

Hey glaisaurus_x

Well yes there is 2 different types of bannings. One would be permanent bannings, and the other only temporarily.

Temporarily bannings are usually short ranging from 1-7 days. They're usually issued out to offenders with their first offence (rule breaking). However continuous offences result in the final decision of Permanent ban.

Reasons for most bannings are:

  • Spamming chat
  • Profanity (evading our filters)
  • Verbal abuse
  • Hate Speech
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Griefing
  • Packet Spamming
  • Using any kind of hacks/cheats

Another Ban, is the temporarily ban, which is also sometimes used to ban accounts which are comprimised by hackers. These bannings are request by the original account owner and can be lifted once he or she gets hold of the account.

quote:

If you break our rules in-game in our MMO's (AQWorlds, EpicDuel and HeroSmash), your account will be banned for 1, 3 or 7 days.

Since we have in-game moderators monitoring and manually banning players, bans cannot be appealed. Accounts will be banned for the full duration of the ban. Screenshot proof can be made available for any ban longer than 24 hours (1 day.) Repeated offenders may have their accounts permanently disabled. Rule breaking also counts for any players whose emails are caught in control of other player accounts that are not theirs. We do not allow account sharing/trading, etc.

You can read more about bannings in the Help Pages [:)]

EDIT: Ah, woops! forum bans rights :S

Stray Cat -> RE: Question on Bans (11/22/2011 5:25:37)

^I believe OP was asking about forum bans rather than in-game ones (hence the reference to titles).

To my knowledge, that's not the case. How the title is entered is at the banning moderator's pleasure, which is where you get exclamation points, capitalisation or lack thereof, etc.

Glais -> RE: Question on Bans (11/22/2011 5:37:01)

Oh, had no idea. So there's really no way to tell if they're permanently or temporary banned then right?
In that case, how long does a temporary ban last at it's longest?

As far as I know it's dependant on the crimes of (yes I used the word crimes :P) the trouble maker. They'll just keep getting banned, or having more time added onto a ban if the moderators and administrators see fit. And... in more severe cases, permenant ban, or deletion of forum account.

Everest -> RE: Question on Bans (11/22/2011 22:35:21)

Stray is correct, the exclamation point doesn't signify anything. It's impossible to give you a simple answer to your other question since we do give fairly frequent exceptions that either shorten or lengthen bans. Generally, however, the upper end of the scale of temporary bans is usually at least several months before a permanent ban is given, though again there is significant case-by-case variation.
