@ Angels

Just Classic Angels Holocaust Speak There.

Wonderful. Love It!

"Do As Thou Wilt"

It's All About Winning. And Winning Is... FUN!

FrostHS -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 7:04:03)

^It's not even fun anymore because it's the same build over and over. What's fun about that?

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 7:17:42)

@

Well Focus And Bots Did Limit Build Creativity As Well As Numerous Skill Requirements...

But That's Not What This Thread Is About, It's About The Use Of Boosters. Which I Greatly Support.

Sparticus -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 8:28:29)

I greatly appreciative of some of the most recent posts. They truly demonstrate the ideology of the booster user. Thank you for making my point so well.

Remorse -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 8:29:00)

@buffy Agreed,

Dont blame boosters for lack of creativity and strategy it was clear the devs braught that on them selves with the creation of enhacments, TLMs and constant requirments.

If anything boosters alow the game to be MORE creative.

frogbones -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 10:04:29)

Don't you just love the mentality of these people, Sparticus?

Together, posts like those and Varium Tac Mercs in general are the most depressing parts of this game.

:/

Sparticus -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 10:50:08)

I never underestimate the nescience of others or the ability to demonstrate it publicly. (look it up)

I tend not to judge players on most things they do, almost everyone has both a good and bad side to them and my goal is to always see the good in others. I'm just having trouble these days putting lipstick on the pig and continuing to calling it beautiful. Perhaps I've really become the Old Fart I actually claim to be?

In any case, to each their own... Enjoy the game.

Buffy A. Summers -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 10:59:42)

@ OMG

Did You Just Call Me "Miss Piggy"?!?

*sob*

How Rude.

I Was Hungry... It Was Only 2 Cupcakes... Today.

*facepalm*

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 12:36:44)

@Angels Holocuast I agree. @Frogbones So people not agreeing with you is depressing? Or am I misunderstanding something about that post?

I am Primal -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 13:39:35)

u can't get rid of boosters. how else to u expect to win in sticky situations?

Sparticus -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 14:21:37)

Use a wet wipe. How did you get sticky to begin with? Shouldn't eat and play ED at the same time.

DunkThatOreo -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 15:28:23)

^Lolololol, anyways, frogbones would you rather lose and get nothing or win and get everything. The people who use bosters
are actually the more skillful/creative players of this game. They're smart enough to carry them in case they get in a trick situation
and because they want to win not lose. Don't compare honor and crap with this game because it's a game, there really is no
honor in playing a computer game it's just fun to play.

Stabilis -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 15:32:13)

Energy boosters for the win. They don't heal you, but you can use a moderately powerful skill the next turn!

supermasivo -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 15:36:38)

Yes, they heal u... if u have reroute and u need for example 10 more energy to get another high lvl heal will save ur ... totally.

Stabilis -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 15:50:24)

^ No they don't heal you. They give you 15 or 25 ENERGY...

nico0las -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 19:20:19)

I follow the "If it's in the game, use it" rule.
I am also the last person to ever consider fair play. I'll use any means necessary.
Having said this, I find boosting to be not only a sign of weakness, but also
and lack of skill when building. There are some builds, however, that use a heal.
Tech mages are like that. Although they don't boost often, they heal 47-50 regardless.
Even so, they don't boost.

I understand there are points in time in which "luck", or whatever you want to call it
comes into play. I hate that too. That is, besides juggernaut or 2v2, the only JUST reason to boost.
Seeing as we're talking about 1v1 here, I'll just say as I stated earlier:

If your build is unable to keep you alive during a 1v1, it's time to rebuild.
If you're a weak non varium, then that's a good reason to boost. If you are a full varium, 34, there is
NO GOOD REASON (excluding 2v2 and juggernaut) why you should boost in a battle.

Again. If you choose to boost, that's fine. I'm simply pointing out that you should have the skill,
especially as a varium, to stay alive in battle.

@Below I see what you mean. However, I still stand by what I say. Mind you, I do boost as well, simply not in a 1v1. I honestly couldn't give a care in the world on whether someone actually boosts or not. For me, a Strength based player, I can still deal the damage, regardless of the opponent's health. What frustrates me is actually the "Heal, boost, boost, rage, heal" method some use. But that's not important. I feel that one's build should be able to keep him/her alive through thick and thin. I'm not saying if you boost, you're not good. I'm simply saying your build should be able to keep you alive without boosters.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 19:42:39)

I find the thought that if a build is not good enough without boosters, it is weak; a bit silly.

Who are you to determine what is weak or not. Build making is a choice, and the player can choose to use any strategy they wish. From 100+ strength to 2 boosters, it is the same thing. It is about making a build that aids in competing and gaining an edge. Boosters are used in many ways. It is not always a sign of a last gasp, it could be used strategically as well.

Reading some of the generalization, I would be considered weak, unintelligent, and not an honorable player.

This is my take is on the extreme ideal of what has been presented... If your build/character is not strong enough to overcome heals, stuns, crits, deflects, blocks, and boosters on a regular basis, it would be best to re-strategize your ideals for this game. All of these things happen, and how will you adjust when they do...

Before I added NPCs, Robots, Boosters to my game preferences, I never insulted anyone who chose to used these methods. Nor have I ever called anyone weak or not honorable due to their choice of play, and I still believe in being respectful and not crossing a certain line of disrespect to another.

If people view boosters should be eliminated from the game, then I suggest petitioning and sending it to the game developers.

This is a great discussion. Keep it there without lessening others to make one feel more empowered.

frogbones -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 19:58:17)

Yup. Well said, Nicolas. I have a level 34 Non Varium Tac Merc, so you know I have to earn every one of my victories vs. the full Varium 34s that I encounter. It's funny, but my 34 Non Varium makes people boost more than my 34 full Varium.

If you are a 34V and need to boost against a 34NV (no crits/fair fight), you simply cannot consider yourself pro.

Shoots, if a 34NV was about to beat my 34V, then in my book, they've earned it and deserve the win. Boosting to get the win in that situation would be embarassing.

But that's just me.

EDIT: My 34NV just fought a 34 full Varium that rhymes with Ronnie Row. He boosted twice and then, when he beat me, called me a noob.

This is precisely what is wrong with people and this game.

Aere -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 20:13:38)

@ Sparticus, my samurai analogy was meant to come across as tongue-in-cheek and irrelevant, nothing meaningful. But, the OP did bring up the question of honor, which is why I thought of it in the first place. EDIT:: Or embarrassment, or other emotions that also aren't really called for in an online PVP game.

And who says a booster is not a weapon? If you didn't need your gun to win a battle, would you use the gun? Probably not, which is why most people don't need to use two boosters every battle. But, in the even that you DO need your gun, for the guaranteed damage or stat boosts, you have it. Same with boosters. I'd take a booster and a win over a loss any day.

Weapons are used to gain an advantage in battle. Boosters are DEFINITELY used to gain an advantage in battle. I could call a person a noob for using an unfair advantage and shooting me in battle with a gun, if I did not have one. But, if I decide to go into battle without a full setup, that's my own problem. Nothing anybody else should be penalized for.

Sipping Cider -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 22:20:59)

Boosters are around for easy access to anyone. The one case were they are better for some rather than others is the case where a build uses that extra 25 energy (an example could be a field medic that costs 25 energy) or that extra 25 health (an example could be a build that has super high resistance and defense) for a greater effect.

However, whoever has more support makes their auxilary better just as much.

Boosters cost only 26 credits from servertron and 28 from Valestra if you need more.

Plus, you must remember that the person you are going against that uses a booster is around 30 credits less then they could be, meaning you have an edge for buying a new weapon first or enhancing your weapon first.

nico0las -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 22:38:25)

^6-8 credit advantage. Well that's fantastic...

Gabriel Dude -> RE: Boosters (12/1/2011 22:38:42)

i dont think using booster is noobish they are there for something Lol about frogbones saying its dishonorable isnt it dishonorable to beat people using the class that has the advantage to win??? changing class to copy the build that the guy killed you with??? well im just saying...

Renegade Reaper -> RE: Boosters (12/2/2011 1:55:09)

im a full varium tlm and when I'm juggernauting two no armor free players, a lot of them use boosters,
and in my opinion thats the only time boosting is lame. all it does it make it take another turn to own them.
but boosting when theres a chance you can win, is just a good strategy.

frogbones -> RE: Boosters (12/15/2011 0:03:26)

Every booster nub who nubs out a win because they had to boost when they were otherwise outplayed/outsmarted/out-build-made should get an asterisk by a win in a seperate column.

There needs to be a negative cheevo (maybe a picture of a donkey, or a donkey's arse) associated with boosting. Or maybe a picture of a chicken. It'd be worth negative points.

So yeah, a picture that symbolizes the mentality of those who need to boost to win, and negative achievement points.

Another thought would be a pic of a brain, surrounded by a circle, with a red line crossing out the brain. Or maybe a picture of a feeble-looking old man/woman on crutches with the saying, "I can't make it on my own" below it.

Or maybe those who choose the non-wussy option get a cheevo and + rating points. The cheevo could be a picture of knight in shining armor, with a rose in one hand and a sword in the other. Below it would read, "I may have lost, but at least I ain't no wussy booster!"

What are your ideas for cheevos?

State Alchemist -> RE: Boosters (12/15/2011 0:27:08)

Boosting:

Perspective My Main Character (34 Full Varium):
I generally don't use boosters
If someone boosts first I MIGHT (basically if needed)
If someone is getting lucky and acts like a donkey, then YES
If a lower level is beating me with good strategy and doesn't shout n00b or some other lame insult I won't boost cause (s)he earned that win
May use in Jugg battles wespecially with lvl 31 full variums being placed into it

Perspective My Lvl 30 Alt with ZERO varium (so i can keep perspective)
I don't buy boosters, trying to save every credit to build character up on totally f2p system, so i can relate when i see f2p players when on my real character

If your higher lvl (ESPECIALLY VARIUM) has to boost against my lvl 30 no varium alt, I will think it totally weak. Especially when they say n00b after they kill me by boosting against a lower level non varium. Varium already has many advantages, to need to resort to the extra of boosters, AND to insult afterwards is the LAMEST STUFF EVER!
