A WYSIWYG edit interface would make it easier for users to use BBCode, without the clutter. It'd make creating encyclopedia articles for the 3 single-player RPGs much easier, as any user with a document editing programme could easily copy and paste over their work, it would save them the time of having to manually add each individual BBCode tag, particularly since the edit interface has a tendency to scroll-up each time one adds BBCode to a string of words later on in a post.

Everest -> RE: WYSIWYG Edit interface (1/16/2012 13:02:03)

This is something I wouldn't have necessarily considered myself since I can edit any post. :P
However, unless you know something I don't know this would require a forum upgrade. So I'll put it on a list with some other suggestions I've been collecting, but long story short I can't promise anything.

Just a note:

This is a peculiarity particular to Firefox.

On the FF note, a few forumites have mentioned liking using BBCodeXtra to make formating easier.

I'm one of those who use BBCodeXtra, however, it's still annoying to say the least :P and a WYSIWYG edit interface won't constantly laugh at your misfortunes as it mischievously scrolls up :P

@Everest: Ok, thanks very much :D

In the second post, Samuel says regular users of Advanced Addition can download it free of charge. There's no need to upgrade the forum software at all.

Everest -> RE: WYSIWYG Edit interface (1/20/2012 16:02:51)

It's a good find, and you're welcome to download it if you'd like, but I don't really want to officially advertise third-party software. So I'll see what I can do software-wise. As you may have seen Artix mention in what I've been calling his state of the company address, we're due for a forum upgrade at some point this year anyway so it's a good time for me to be compiling good ideas that can hopefully be packaged into the new system.

I'm going to merge your posts too by the way just for the sake of neatness. ;)

Grixus Faldor -> RE: WYSIWYG Edit interface (1/21/2012 1:40:43)

Ah ok, I wasn't aware that this was third-party software? From what it seems, it's a package that comes with ASPPlayground.NET Forum Software. However, there will be no need to download the software as it comes with all current/newer versions of ASPPlayground.NET, which I assume these forums will use post-upgrade? Thanks again, Everest! :)

Everest -> RE: WYSIWYG Edit interface (1/21/2012 2:31:55)

You're right, I totally misread that link. I was inferring from that post that each individual person would have to download WYSIWYG as a macro or something. I do not know why. Nor did I notice that was from the software's website. Not my best day, clearly. I'll be sure to keep all of this in mind.

Grixus Faldor -> RE: WYSIWYG Edit interface (1/21/2012 9:20:31)

Haha, no worries. It's been something I've been meaning to suggest, given its convenience for the 'Pedia contributors. The forum software upgrade looks to be promising. Lock please :)
