BurningFlames -> Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 15:07:21)

I had an interesting idea and wanted to know what the community thinks about it. If we look at the other AE games, when they release a new item (ex Gift Boxes from Adventure Quest)
They have several versions (ex Gift Box IV/ Gift Box XXVI) for each individual set of levels. Does the community think this may work? (ex Frostbane III/ Frostbane IV) the difference would be in the damage stats and requirements. Thoughts?

vulkan -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 15:23:33)

it dousnt sound that bad... but then again i think cooler looking weapons should be higher level.

Ranloth -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 15:30:01)

^ Argument invalid, it isn't the case in other AE games so why should ED be that way? c:

I suggested that few times in the past, pretty sure a lot of other people did as well. Sort of the way Beta weapons did it, it should also apply for promos and normal items.
Small amount of coding required for lower version, art is already there. All you need is a bit more time and you fill the gaps at the same time.

Stabilis -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 15:33:47)

YES.

And all we need is about 30 primaries, sidearms, armours, and auxiliaries. Imagine a level 35 Gothic hunter, pwnage!

AQW Invalidates your argument.

Fay Beeee -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 15:39:02)

But this is nothing like AQW.

Ranloth -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 15:47:58)

@Fay
Same applies in DF, AQ, pretty sure MQ too, maybe HS. But when it comes to closing the gaps, this is really good idea and could make a lot of players happy at cost of additional coding and using same art. Of course not 10 versions of same item but perhaps top (33/34), mid-Lvl (25-29) and lower-Lvl (15-19). Just my idea, like 3 versions are already useable for quite a high number of players and in-between the gaps, you can get different item (looking cooler, different stat arrangement, etc). c:

Wraith -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 16:02:30)

My ideas:

A merge shop. You would need the previous item and a sum of credits (15k?) for the next item. Enhancements remain.
Higher level versions ONLY. I'm not gonna have a level 15 Frostbane...>_>

Upgrades for cheevos?

All cheevos, but need more rating? Upgrade cheevos with credits/Varium(2k Varium for 1k rating, 25k creds 1k rating)

Fay Beeee -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 16:06:07)

I am not against getting close to the lower levels. Just like to try and keep ED PvP focused.
But like this one

rej -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 16:06:22)

Supported. And, if this were implemented, we could lose encumbrance (bad feature) and live happily ever after.

Sipping Cider -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 16:10:02)

I like this idea a lot. There is tons of lower level gear that I wish I could use competitavely. It is really sad to have to start a new character just to try out some armors and weapons in battle.

The cost for upgrading your gear should be the same cost as buying a weapon/armor at that level, including varium price for varium weapons, that way Epic Duel is not losing money.

Oba -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 16:10:41)

Sorry, but nope. I dont like this idea. I'd like to "keep the lower levels in the loop" though, but not as this. I think that it would be nice to release every promo item with more then just one level, just as the beta and founder items was. In level... was it 12? 25, and maybe 32-isch.

Battle Elf -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 16:11:49)

Maybe, seems like quite a bit of work to make that many custom weapons.

You should put this in the ED Suggestion Section :)

JohnMenzies -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/26/2012 19:43:13)

I would love this Idea as long as weapons like beta were included. :)

ReconnaisX -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/27/2012 2:25:27)

Disagree
Just draw new content don't reuse old content.

razackie -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/27/2012 16:48:51)

Drawing new content takes time and time could be spent balancing the classes or one something else more productive... I'd rather have a more 'complete' game than shiny new stuff. I like the idea of different levels of the same item.

Digital X -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/27/2012 17:04:25)

I quite like the idea to be honest with you. Even though the players are not getting the "top notch" version of said weapons, it will still allow to them to get a variant of it, level wise, and also see what's it like to have the top notch one :) And i'm more than sure they would appreciate it.

Stabilis -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (2/27/2012 17:57:29)

OMG OMG, besides the fact that I would be very interested in upgrading my older gear to modern play, I have come up with an item suggestion which I will post later in weapon/equipment suggestions.

BurningFlames -> RE: Keeping the lower levels in the loop (3/1/2012 1:34:25)

I really like the idea of upgrading gear perhaps a system where EX : Frostbane costs "Said" Varium (EX: 1500) would only cost 400 then upgrading would increase the level, stats and requirements totaling to a cost of (EX : 1500) in the end when it hits the max level. This is all and example of a completely new system the would allow lower levels access to weapons they can us in the future :)

Thoughts?
