^mehehehehe ninja for the win

@hun

and why the hell are u complaining bout beta weps.beta weps are ok cause a support build cant use beta zooka and a str build cant use beta primary and gun because they are too weak. tech based builds and dex based builds are gr8 but they get tons of crit because they ignore support. beta weps are old the devs do not need to waste time on them i rather they concentrate on the tlm and ch nerf and merc buff. then worrying about outdated weps.

King FrostLich -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 7:58:23)

It's been 3 days since I logged in after finishing my school retreat and all I see is just a new package? Well, it doesn't seem to harm anything but block rates once again.

Edit: After seeing endless complaints of TlM balance and other stuff, I'll be waiting for CH to get nerfed even if I am one. I only changed to get wins in 2v2 and then change back to BM or TlM to try it out but it is unfair if they will update it when TlM gets nerfed and CH's dont on that day.

Forget this ugleh post, CH gets nerfed anyway as well.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 9:47:06)

@T.600 What is your problem? You aren't a TLM or a CH so why are you so angry? I mean what is the point of your entire rage rant? What is it even about? I mean seriously stop trolling. ED has improved a lot in the recent updates so what are you so angry about?

Calogero -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 10:53:52)

funny how TLM reigned ( still reigning ) in the OP section for months, now CH are ' overpowered ' and those same TLM's want CH nerfed as fast as possible...

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 10:56:45)

@andy123 Because CH are OP. And so are we TLM that's why we are being nerfed aswell.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 11:14:59)

funny that a CH is complaining about TLMs complaining about CHs being OP : complete hypocrite ^^

Lord Nub -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 11:24:08)

@Isaiah,

Mind explaining how this game has improved? All I ever see are new weapons and missions which are both useless.

There is such little strategy involved with this game thanks to the current minimum and maximum percentages on luck factors that anyone can win which is the devs perception of "Balance."

There has been nothing done concerning "Actual Balance," no new game modes, and no new skills such as perhaps a 5th tier to add to the strategy element.

Features mentioned ages ago such as group chat and tournaments?

Oh but we've seen your questions regarding promos?!?!?!? Who in the world gives a crap about a promo release which is just more weapons with nothing making this game better whatsoever?

T.600 is spot on with his post on the last page.

@Below,

They are getting more members like with any other game. Time. The game has just marked its two year anniversary with AE and will obviously grow. The reason it has taken this long is because of how poor the communication is between the developers and the community along with extremely poor releases.

Also, it is children pushing this game atm. Children are not a reliable consumer base for PvP such as this because they will lose interest extremely fast from losing and becoming angry which is why the percentages are adjusted the way they are so that they can win with absolutely no strategy whatsoever.

This in turn makes the company lose it's more mature players because they then become frustrated that there is little "Strategy" implemented in something that should be strategy focused. Mature players are also the ones with access to the most available funds which is who these types of games should be targeting. They took a wrong turn and we'll see how it plays out.

I can personally guarantee if they don't implement some actual features shortly or bring some sort of strategy element to the game I for one will be done because it is obvious what they care about and it isn't turn based strategy PvP as advertised.

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 11:28:58)

@T.600
I'll add to Isaiah's post:
If ED is not moving forward, how is it getting more and more players? And also earning more money? It's common sense here. These changes are firstly, let's say, interim. If class will be doing worse compared to others or too good, then you're up for a buff or nerf. Balance Tracker will show which one needs more improving, perhaps TLM will be a bit weaker than it should be and guess what - yes you're up for a buff.

Don't forget people, FC will get a revamp sometime. Intimidate as well, they are both somewhat useless skills (especially with the bots now..) and we got told few times that they will be completely changed. My alt CH is a Dex build, difference after the change - I can't loop anymore or as much (Lvl 27). My other alt, Lvl 29, is a TLM and difference is Poison build that is kinda different to play but gives me more strategical choices (somewhat balanced build, a bit more focus on Str but also Support while maintaining good Def + Res).

TurkishIncubus -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 11:36:50)

As long as Devs put promos in game sell im ok with new promo, even they can do a new promo every week idc [:D]

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 11:43:01)

@Lord Nub

Yes, but thing is, AE games are aimed at kids in particular. Yes we, older players, provide more profit for them as we do know what we're paying for and how it works but it doesn't mean we're always right. You mention poor communication, I'm not siding with Devs, but it's slightly improving; we can see Testers visiting Forum more which have direct contact with Devs, Devs themselves try to visit more often and provide us with feedback and nerfs - TLM took ages to nerf, but CHs got "crushed" after a month or two. We can see it's slightly improved in good direction, not saying it's perfect but that will take time obviously - like you said, we'll see how it goes.
Lastly you mentioned Strategy - surely with recent nerfs, or mainly tomorrows, it's slightly returning won't you agree? TLMs can't keep Smoking you, Frenzy, Gun, whatever that relates to Str spam. CHs might still do, but less looping it seems. We'll just see how it goes, we can't say now as we don't know.

@Turkish

I think Lycus mentioned new promo (well seasonal really) to be in-game, Frost was and pretty sure so was Valentine! ^_^

TurkishIncubus -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 11:55:31)

^ Yeah i saw that , i said it for the ones that think Promos are too frequent

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 12:10:49)

@Lord Nub Weapons and Missions are not useless. They are both very important especially weapons I can't believe you even called weapons useless. The game has improved because it is slowly closing the GAP more. Of course it should not be completely closed but it should be balanced. It has improved in content a lot thanks to the new hidden arcade in the normal PvP battles. And some balance adjustments and other minor features. It is also advancing in the story-line more and more. Besides if the game is getting worse and worse why does it keep gaining more and more players? Have you noticed how the servers are becoming full a lot faster then usual now? Why is it becoming more popular? Because its improving. The game is apart of AE of course it will target younger players. Since you are apparently an older player you will lose interest. Then its time to move on then instead of constantly complaining about how bad the game has become after the previous good updates. I do agree luck can be a big problem and especially lag which bothers me the most. The game could use more strategy but I'm fine with it the way it is. Not every single person who plays a PvP game wants super long battles that require a ton thinking and strategy if you want a game like that find another one. But I assure you the general kids who play this game don't want that. That is why the game doesn't include a lot of strategy right now. T.600's post was nothing more then an attempt to flame the devs because of something about the new update he didn't like. This is why the forums are ignored by Titan and Nightwraith and which is why they pay attention to their players on Facebook and Twitter. Every single DN thread always contains some arguement or another and always contains flaming.

King FrostLich -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 12:11:56)

True. In almost every month, there's a new promo which is becoming way too much for paying players. Just look at the months of the year promo list:

January: Late Christmas weapons(still part of december's promos)
February: Valentine weapons
March: St. Patrick's Day weapons
April: Bunny/silly weapons
May: Late bunny weapons
June: No promo
July: Independence Day weapons
August: No promo
September: Dragon weapons
October: Soul Weapons
November: Late soul weapons
December: Christmas Weapons

Note: Talk like a pirate day and Back to school weapons aren't promos.

Take note that there are only 2 months that clearly do not have promos unless the devs are going to be silly enough to add more. Ashari, Lycus, if you are reading this.....yes I know it's our decision whether to buy these so called promos or not. But that doesn't mean placing a promo every month will satisfy every paying player, new and old. Why? Here's my own point of view:

The new paying players start by buying their promo and are very satisfied with it. The next month, another set of promos have been newly released and these new paying players start having mixed reactions. The majority wants to either keep or change their old ones with the new promos being released. After another month, ANOTHER set has been released and this is where almost half of them don't like it. Some of the new paying players have come to their thought that their weapons are good as they are but the new promos that have been released AGAIN seem to outpower the other promos they have. Not only that, some have decided to stop paying for the game thinking that their promo weapons are epic and will result to the same thing as mentioned before this sentence. And after another month, the 4th promo is released and the new players decide to either complain, rant the forums or on facebook/twitter and turn into the "old" paying players while the new ones end up repeating the cycle itself.

Lord Nub -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 12:15:59)

@Trans,

Skill usage is all controllable with strategy by stat allocation, skill point allocation, and by maintaining the proper energy throughout the match. It is the luck factors which are uncontrollable that must be fixed.

Why should a dex spammer be blocked then crit by a str spammer with little to no dex or sup?

Why should a sup spammer be crit by a build with little to no support?

Tech spammer deflected or unable to get a deflect throughout the match?

Players should have the ability to make their own fates. If I choose to sacrifice str and sup for dex then I should have all the advantages dex provides such as blocks and not being blocked. Currently that is 10% base adjusted to 4% - 40% with each percentage being increased or decreased by 2 points of dex.

I would like to see that be adjusted to 0% - 60%. Max SA 70% with a base chance of 20%. Keep in mind that would take 80 points of dex over your opponent to have a 60-70% range and 40 to not be blocked. By doing such a player would leave themselves open to deflects, not being deflected, crits, slower rage, and lower hp/mp.

Deflections, currently 2%-25% with a base of 10% being adjusted with every 3 points of tech. Would like to see that change to something such as the same 10% base being adjusted to 0 - 60% by 2 points of tech.

Criticals, currently base chance of 4% being adjusted to 1 - 20% with 7 points of support. Should be changed to being adjustable from 0 - 40% with 5 points of support but also lessen how much damage a critical provides. Don't know the current % off the top of my head but it would be too much in this case. They key is the 0, the range may be changed but the 0 must be there. No reason for a good support build to lose to a str spammer getting a lucky 1% crit is the point i'm trying to make in this case.

Also stuns and rage and all that mumbo jumbo would also be adjusted accordingly. If any of the percentages are off you'll have to excuse me but that's what I remember anyway.

Could also increase the amount of points it takes to adjust each luck factor but regardless, the 0 must be introduced if there is ever to be any strategy implemented into this game.

@Isaiah,

It's understandable why you feel this way as a non-varium. There apparently seems to be some gigantic difference between varium and nons even though there isn't. One plays for free and the other pays hundreds to maintain the top arsenal. A player who spent $100 bucks a year and a half ago is now underpowered to most non-varium weapons available today. That's closing the gap?

These constant weapon releases keep players purchasing more and more and where are the features? There aren't any.

So were TLM's... They were OP a lot longer than CH.
They were OP ever since Delta release till now, CH were OP when Plasma Armor was added...
TLM's were kept OP for that long, while now those same TLM, even you want CH to be nerfed fast because it isn't ' Fair '..
How about those months TLM were unfair OP???

Ranloth -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 12:22:58)

Hmm so Lord, this is basically all about luck I suppose. Not saying it's wrong to discuss it but if such things were to be changed (0% introduced or whole luck concept changed), surely it'd please you with current nerfs as well? As some classes will lose out on current nerfs, *cough* Str abusers *cough* so that's really good step towards what we wanted from the start.

I agree with your blocking and deflection statements, and somewhat about crits. Yes they should deal less damage as they are doing too much *rage is used to crush through tanks instead* but rate of it should be improved in same way as it is now. So 7 support. If they do too much damage now, would be doing less but appearing a bit more often - it'd yield the same result as it is now so lowering their damage whilst keeping same improvement rate would be good.
Stuns are depending on mainly probabilities and Support so it's not all luck but will agree to some extent with you.

IsaiahtheMage -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 12:24:34)

@andy123 Yeah we TLM have been OP for a long time. We should have been nerfed a while ago. Despite me being against it a while ago I changed my mind now that we are getting nerfed anyway. But the devs probably didn't do it because they where making a lot of money because of a lot of players switching to TLM. In the end the game is still a business. Apparently that is what matters more then balance. But balance is being addressed now at least. @Lord Nub Now I do agree partially with that. The luck factors that you described are messed up. A person with 90 support should not be critted by someone with 26 support. Some luck factors need to be guranteed. Its not right someone with 26-32 def is blocked by someone with 0-0 def meaning they have probably about 80-90 more dex. The minimum chances need to be 0%.

Zzzzzzzzo myyyyyy Ggggggggggggod.

I am going to have to keep suggesting my Cyber Hunter edit so they can leave us alone.

If not I will be prompted to start calling tech mage and bounty hunter overpowered.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 15:00:42)

@Lord Nub numbers don't lie the gap between F2P's and Varium started at about 15 levels when you add up all the stat modifiers and last i checked(on TLAPD) the gap had dropped to 10 levels and now F2P's have the new suggestion gear which is great and we have very easy access to a bot(rusty assault bot) so in theory the gap should have shrank some more from that so while the gap isn't truely a monster anymore I still think it would fall in the realm of over the 5 levels but I will soon get some numbers together to see what it is.

Hun Kingq -> RE: =ED= Feb 29th Design Notes - Leap Day (3/2/2012 19:33:15)

Luna_moonraider, if players want things to be fair weapons should not be exempt, if the get 10 enhancements but no requirements that is truly unfair. Last time I checked a support build or a strength build could carry Beta even Alpha weapons. They could have a stat beyond the stat Progression chart that no other player can and have high health and energy at the same time. it would take less than 5 minutes to put the requirements on those weapons in the mid to low 30s. You want balance but you want to exclude weapons, myself everything should be part of balance, not just the skills. The Hunters primary should have requirements on support and strength so they can't abuse dex and to make sure they can't abuse strength put requirements on tech or dex so is their a problem with that? One player mention that there is requirements on Beta weapons so I went to Epic wiki and copied and pasted to show that there is requirements and that they could carry those weapons with 30 total enhancements but add the founders armor 40 total enhancements without having deal with requirements like the rest of us.

If you want balance then nothing is off the table.
