Well well.

Rumors in the tech community. Adobe is letting the flash format/code down after years of battle with Apple. What does it mean for our beloved game ?

It was of course very predictible. Apple being the biggest player in the world, what they preach usually goes. Now with flash quickly disapearing alot of questions comes to mind . .

I also would like to point out that EpicDuel, being a flash game not supported by any Apple media, have a very slim chance to make to the main stream.

FLASH IS DEAD. APPLE SHOT IT IN THE HEAD WHEN THEY DECIDED NOT TO USE THAT SOFTWEAR. THE GIANT HAVE SPOKEN.

Any thoughs on that guys ??

Titan and Rabble have to transfer their skills into something like Java or C++ now?

Hun Kingq -> RE: Adode Flash (3/7/2012 20:38:48)

They just need to recode for HTML5 getting ready for HTML6 which will help get Epic Duel onto mobile devices and Apple type products which in terms will help better expand into the Linux world.

VIX -> RE: Adode Flash (3/7/2012 20:39:29)

@MrBones @Depressed Void,: Adobe Flash Isn't going to cut any of this Flash Players, That's rumors . i'm sure Adobe isn't stupid to take a decision like this , cuz there is more then 11.000.000 Games online that works on Flash Player so imagine Adobe does this he will get into a trouble with people , so i'm pretty sure it's just rumors.

I'm trying to contact Adobe , it says :All chat agents are busy. When an agent is available, the chat button will appear in this space.

I will ask them about this and i will post the reply if they replied to me back.

@hun Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't HTML only used for websites and not any games on the website?

MrBones -> RE: Adode Flash (3/7/2012 20:44:15)

@Vix: I think you are greatly underestimating the influence Apple have on the market. Plus I did not say they are going to 'close' the flash player, I said they are going to stop updating and investing in it since they are considering it a DEAD language.

Let's hope I am wrong because, like many palyers, I have put an obscene amount of money in this game.

The first thing that comes to mind when reading this is "ABANDON SHIP!!!" but that's just how I roll.
The second thing that comes to mind is "at least aq3d is coming out soon...."

Ashari -> RE: Adode Flash (3/7/2012 20:52:02)

I think you might have misunderstood Adobe's stance on Flash. Adobe is cutting Flash support in browsers for mobile devices. That's the extent of it though.

Flash is still going to be continued to be used for desktops. Most video sites (like YouTube for example) run on Flash. I'd wager over 90% of browser based games are based in Flash. It's not going anywhere. After cutting mobile support, Flash redirected a lot of its resources towards making it a better gaming platform, so if anything, we'll see improvements in Flash that let AE do even crazier and awesome things using Flash... like AQ3D.

Practel -> RE: Adode Flash (3/7/2012 20:55:15)

Guys,
Rumors are rumors and should be handled as rumors. As far as I know, Adobe is just dropping mobile phones. Also, browsers (like Google Chrome) auto-update flash.

I'm going to lock this thread, since it's a rumor and Adobe only dropped Mobile devices.

If you have any questions you can PM me.

Cinderella -> RE: Adode Flash (3/7/2012 21:02:55)

Why can't the Justice League take a group photo on an iPhone? Because Apple doesn't support Flash!

But, what Ashari said. Flash doesn't have the mobile support. That doesn't mean that one day everything will be fine and dandy for AE and the very next day, Flash has died and nothing works anymore. If you want to discuss the relative merits of HTML5 vs Flash, though, I think it might be more appropriate to discuss it in ArtixEntertainment General discussion since it involves all of AE's products.
