Mercenary at heart.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 14:44:16)

ok when i started the game i played as a bh there was no class change so i made 3 different files 1 bh,1 merc, and 1 mage. played on bh first got bored the played on mage. go bored then played on merc like merc so much made another merc alt the merc alt then became my main and i been a merc since tlm came out. played tlm until ch got a buff tried ch for 1 and half weeks did not like ch change back to tlm and will stay a tlm forever because mercs are my type of class tanky and deals tons of dmg. once a merc always a merc.

AQWPlayer -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 14:46:42)

If you like classes that are

tanky and deals tons of dmg
then I suggest you try out guardian class xD

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 15:06:45)

My main has been a Mage. I chose this class as a representation of myself with spirituality and thought. I created various alts as an extension of those aspects that are dear to me. My main is my representation and my alts are appendages of my spirituality and thought.

In regard to dueling, all my alts and main act and play the same way. No matter how difficult the class it is to operate in that manner, I find a way to adjust it to my style of passiveness and strategy.

I don't play for victors, but the opportunity to compete.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 17:45:53)

I never understood why ppl stuck with only 1 class, i think classes should be buyable to change them whenever we want.

Developers also support class jumping, Mutating weapons is for class jumping.

Thats why i dont choose class i choose build and i use the class that got the best build option.

Ez_Ease -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 18:17:27)

It called personal choice and not for any to understand but that person making the decision.
As for me I prefer the Mercs and Tactical Merc. My personality has always been up close and personal.
I want to know who beat you. :-)

In which game? Dragonfable or AQWorlds? (It's pretty weak in both of them.)

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 18:23:08)

TurkishIncubus, yes the developers provide individual freedom. The issue is not the individual, but class demographic shifts, that is the issue. When this happens, it alters both community balance and competitive balance. Reading your last statement, it should be read as, you choose the path of least and convenient competition. Players with your mindset are playing to exploit. I do read your posts and know your honest reasonings for class shifting. It is best to be honest. With honesty, the game can see exactly why simple class change on a mass level is not a positive attribute for this community.

Passionate single class players focus on problem solving, regardless of class success, and provide the best in aiding the game for balance while class shifters exploit loop builds.

I am not challenging your decision to do as you wish, it is your right, because those features are there.

If class feature was limited (as it was originally intended), or eliminated, we would not have this discussion. Class Change, Enhancements, and Bots have complicated matters of balance. Much like a diet of high excess, many players have now become accustomed to it as the norm for competing, and sadly, this is false.

You play this game only for status, victors and speed of them. You are not playing this game for balanced competing and providing a balanced community. Just be honest about it, it is not wrong, but it is your choice.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 18:39:59)

@JZ I have never thought about it that way before.

I have always seen the community as three kinds of players. 1) F2P who up until recently have been stuck with one class. 2)People who play as different classes just to test the water but they stick with their favorite class whenever possible. 3) Class Jumpers who change class just to have that nice high 90's win rate.

Beyond that I have never thought of the reason why people stuck around on one class or those who jump classes every update, well every balance update. Mainly I never thought about this because it never concerned me I would always sit around as a Caster Mage as the class was made to be(Caster, Breaker or Hybrid of the two as I used to say on EDF) even if now I have been forced into a Hybrid build I still fancy myself a Caster because if I don't have to Malf I won't plain and simple. Now that F2P's have the ability to change classes even if we cannot do this often there are those of us who hunt down the class which is likely to have a long life of OP'ed builds and stick with them or those of us who try the evolution of their class and if they don't like it they stay that class until they have the credits to go back or them get Varium and change to whatever they want.

I'm the second one. [:D]

My Name is Jake -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 19:37:19)

I prefer Techmage because it was my starting class and because it has reroute. I prefer classes that can get energy back well so I also like Tac Mercenary and Cyber Hunter.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 19:43:09)

@JZaanu

i dissagree

Its not been successful right ??? Can you tell a player that made a class successful for 4-5 nerfs. In my opinion you should change class continuesly to provide better balance in game. When you play the other classes you see their problem better. If i had unlimited varium i would play with a different class everyday even Merc.

You cant force players to play with 1 class, especially after developers nerf them.

quote:

I have fun playing for status and victors. And if i dont care balance than why i want buff for other classes in everyday on balance thread?

The thing i wanted to tell is i choose class for their skill combinations not just because i like them. If i want good gun dmg i play with Deadly Aim classes, If i want to healloop i play with energy return classes. Something like that.

I didnt mean jump to the strongest class. Everybody is now BM and im tech TM, how many ppl actually use tech TM. Not much i guess. I also lose to most BM but i am still TM, you know why? cause i like its skill combination more. BMs Berserker block alot and their gun deflect at most oponent (how i know? because i tried it). TMs Bolt and rain is not blockable + not deflectable. Thats why im TM. Which is a logical decision for my self. Most of the ppl is like, Im BH, Im TLM... If i belive i can find better build with another class i will jump it.

Just because you play with only TM doenst make you better than other and doesnt make it right.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 20:10:42)

OWA, It is a way of viewing the community as a whole. The game has an extreme challenge in providing community pvp or individual freedom pvp. When class shifts to exploit, it undermines the remaining classes, due to, their demographics have been reduced. When certain builds are deemed OP, how is this determined?

Would players choose to focus on solving these builds while remaining in their class. If you view the recent history, classes that were fancied had some build adjustment, so those builds cannot be exploited anymore, and when this happens, opportunity arises for another class to become the favorite, and the cycle continues. This not good for community, nor is it good for balance.

The game is indirectly playing both sides of the fence by giving a total freedom to exploit, and trying to balance the game. It will never happen. The game will need to make a decision on what it desires most, a balanced community or a community seeking exploitation for convenient victors. What is the purpose of paying for stat enhancements if their value continues to diminished as the weapons add more stats, and levels. What is the purpose of paying for a temporary exploitation, just to continue to do this over and over when there is a balance adjustment?

If there were more classes, this would not be such an issue, but only 6, this cycle is not how a community should be accustomed to.

If the game wants to provide class-shifting for power, then be honest about it. If the game wants to provide a true balanced community, then prove it. Right now, all Cap Level balance adjustments are done after class demographics have changed.

Isn't it odd, when you hear players ask, what is the best class? What are they referring to? We know they mean, the class with the easiest path for victors. No one will recommend a class that has no or little ability to compete. Why compete with a weaker class when you can wink a class-change and assimilate yourself with the collective of the exploitive class.

I hope the game does tighten down and do what is more valued within the community for long term as a whole and not cater for so much open individual freedom. The individual freedom, as a collective, really makes this game very difficult to enjoy when one continues to see clones (individual) of the collective.

Bots must have sacrifice to be used.
Skill weapons base only 1%
Eliminate enhancements or limit to armor only
Class Change limit them or add a level sacrifice

My apologies for being very difficult on this matter, but the culture of this game for pvp is very disappointing to me.

On a side note, I have 4 varium classes. Main is a Mage. I also carry, a merc, bh and a bm. Reason I have one of each is to provide for both community balance, and provide good quality strategic passive play for the game from any class.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 20:28:13)

@JZ I see what you are getting at this cycle of the, quote unquote, OP'd Classes is getting a tad bit annoying I have stuck around long enough to see every class in the spotlight, besides BM but if the trend is following like it does BM's turn is coming, and frankly I've seen a huge increase in the numbers of users on the Op'ed classes ever since we were given the ability to class change.

Also I will add a point onto your statement about undermining the remaining classes when we play band wagon. If the OP'ed build happens to be the counter build to another classes build for high percentage or fast wins then in the balance tracker that build ends up showing a lower value for its win ratio then it really is because there are simply more people playing on that counter build now then there was last week. This could lead to Class A, the OP'ed class, getting the nerf it needs to set it back to where it should be and class B, the other class, getting an unneeded buff making it the new flavor of the month which could end up leading to the continuation of the OP'ed class cycle.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/11/2012 20:58:16)

TY OWA in understanding my perspective. It is not a favorable thought, because it does infringe on personal freedoms that have been allowed in the game. If the game continues to roam in this manner, it will become more difficult to alter once they hit a threshold with enhancements, and players who have lost their varium/interest following the lead given by imperialist players as a way to succeed in this game (want to win more, class change).

lolz if there were a guardian class in ed i would most likely try it out but there is no such class so merc for life XD

well i dont mind the class hoppers let the hop all they want but i do hope the devs put like a 3k token requirement too class change so the at least waste tokens if the class hop.

AQWPlayer -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 0:09:09)

@luna
What about 2k tokens for those who change with credits? Changing classes with credits means pretty much that you have farmed hard (or payed a ton)

JohnMenzies -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 0:23:02)

I have always been one of the MAGE classes and will always be one. :P

warfarfick -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 9:42:37)

I prefer BH :D

ScarletReaper -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 15:28:27)

Was TacMerc till we got royally screwed. Now my favorite is back to techmage because this class has stood the test of time.

nico0las -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 19:31:54)

TM all the way. The class is OP now, I'm managing a 94% dex build ATM, haven't switched in ages. I'm looking into going BM, but my KD would go down the drain.
In any case, I'm in love with the mages, but CH is pretty cool.

Having said this, I'm still loyal to BH. My favorite class. Sadly, it's dead now (somewhat inconvenient as well), but what can you do?

Renegade Reaper -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 19:38:34)

i love cyber for the static charge, even though it got nerfed a little. had to change my build to compensate but it still works well.
i was a tac merc for a quite a while, until it got nerfed. tech mage is awesome too especially SC builds ^^
im gonna stay cyber for a long time. no need to change.

Roymaker -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 19:39:53)

Cyber Hunter... Recentetly changed to it. Very good class

LadyHeartbreak -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 20:18:38)

I've tried all the classes for the passed month and to my surprise I landed on str BH. yeah I said it, Bounty Hunter! People underestimate BH. Even tho my only option is to use a str build I'm still enjoying the class. Its fast (just how I like it) and as the only class with smoke I'm beating a lot of str BMs and the other overpopulated class/build, SC TM. but you gotta have the right build and know which strategy to use against which class/build/bot.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: What Class do you prefer? (3/12/2012 21:20:36)

^
Welcome to my club!
I'm a strength BH too, I get around up 80s or lower 90s in terms of percent with my old build.
But now I get around 95% with it since I improved my build.
My favorites from top to bottom:
BH, TM, BM, CH, TLM, Mercenary. I've only been the 3 base classes but I think I would enjoy BM because I love quick kill builds.
