Elf Priest JZaanu -> Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 1:50:35)

During a stage of this game, armors went through a uni-phase where armors looked exactly the same regardless of class or gender.

George Lowe
Junker
Bunnyborg
Warbot

Since many of these armors are replenished items, do you feel if they became more like our current armors where they are more gender-type and class-sized, would they would sell more? And for players who already have them, would you like your armors fitted to your gender and class?

Stabilis -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 2:15:55)

OH!!!

I remember thinking of this one suggestion:

I support uniform uniforms, but I also have a suggestion to reduce the size of armour shops which is... first of all determining the gender of the character and only selling that appropriate gender type (a male cannot purchase female armour). My other suggestion was that armours should freely mutate. By mutate I mean that armours can be switched element-wise for maybe a small fee of 100 varium.

I support aesthetic custom armours because it allows you to express yourself, so yes I like gender specifics and not so much uniforms.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 9:46:38)

some "smaller" class/gender specific armours would be awesome.

personally I'd be happy if they upgraded the level 28 varium armours. I don't mean buff the existing ones, maybe just edit the artwork slightly,
buff the stats etc and release as an all new 34 range, permanently. as long as they aren't quite as good as the rare 34 armours, all is good.

at least it would be a ton easier than creating 12 new armours. also non-vars have permanent level 30 armours but vars only have level 28s.

Caden's Cuirass
Desert Cyborg
Desert Marine
Desert Ronin
Gamma Guard
Shadow Guard Armor

Why you forget banana? :(

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 14:22:19)

lol a banana with breasts? ^^

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 15:00:43)

It would be wonderful if the Banana Armor was fitted as well. This armor actually contained a uni-banana upper torso, but the legs are basic starter class attire, and it was also gender specific.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 15:13:59)

you are much better at subtlety than me :)

so Jzaanu, what did you think about those armors above being revamped?

Why not? Fat and starch are both lipids, right?

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/15/2012 19:24:13)

Well some of the male armors already have Moobs :P

Since this is a bit unique direction, I suggest starting a new thread on this topic. For example, How can we update outdated items? I will be happy to post there when you do.

Since this thread is essentially a simple question about customizing the uni-armors to Gender and Class, and if it is valued, it might not provide the replies you wish or it might get locked for straying from topic of origin. :)

Rui. -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/16/2012 1:35:27)

bunny, warbot, banana, bug etc are all seasonal rare armours why would anyone buy these now when there are better armours like duds, frost and telsa ?
The regular varium armours are stronger than their non varium counterparts. Why do these need to be revisited. How fair would this be to non varium players and those who invested in the new ones.
What can be done is severly damaged rare armours can be added to drops. The repair cost on these can cost 2k varium. This why those who missed out buying the frost or duds can get an oppourtunity to get them.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/16/2012 2:22:12)

Rui, you have 2 different thoughts, one is applicable to this thread, another is likely either balance or a new thread.

Reason I revisited this thread cause I felt it was valid. The uni-armors were created for easier class-change coding. Essentially it was a first generation transition before weapons mutated. I did not focus on power of items in establishing this thread compared to new cap level items.

I stated the reason, since Warbot, Lowe, and Junker are still available, why not update them to current standards of mutate armors? But since you did address power, those armors are 33/34, while the uni-armors (Banana 27, Lowe 27, Warbot 27, except Bunny Borg 33) are accessible are lower levels which make them very useful even till cap.

So, that is the point, would be more of a benefit to this game to update them to current mutation or leave them as a uni-armor?

I ask you to revisit your post, and address the origin of topic since you made a non-point, and complaint of a different issue.

Thank You

Rui. -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/16/2012 2:55:26)

hi, what exactly do you mean when you say "I stated the reason, since Warbot, Lowe, and Junker are still available, why not update them to current standards of mutate armors?" do you want them to look cooler if yes then it destroyes the purpose of the armour looking like junker etc if you are refering to power i guess they are pretty decent for their cost and kinda add a variation to their counter parts.
Moreover the developers have just stated that this update or the update to come in the next few weeks there would be significant changes to low level item stats.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/16/2012 4:01:58)

Rui, I don't feel you clearly understand my post. Trying to repeat what I just written in the thread again will not be helpful to you. Since you don't understand my thread, I ask you not to post until you do understand.

Thank You

Zeoth -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/16/2012 5:21:04)

I feel while you could revamp them that they could possibly be sold more but, I doubt they would be used more often.
I do support the idea though ^_^

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/16/2012 16:59:57)

As for George Lowe as we are using his armor I can see why it is bulky and annoying because George Lowe is a big man on Delta V. Also I feel that same way about Junker because we are again taking an NPC and making it an armor and since there is only one kind of that NPC and it was made a Uni-armor it would be weird for it to be form fitting(even more so it is a "male" robot we are using whereas if we made an armor off of M4tr1x that is a "female" cybernetic being, not really a robot but more or less a robot)

But Bunnyborg and Warbot as things not tied down to anything else so they should have been made, or now edited as the case is, to be like FDMA where it is the same name and same stats but it is male or female and mage, hunter, or merc.

The Harvest Husk and Frysteland armors were better because they were male/female but they were still merc armors

Rui. -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 9:58:25)

i will post where i like and what i want. I dont see what your trying to prove here. Your post clearly makes no sense. Waiting for another half page lecturing post from you :)

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 10:10:53)

I agree with you on this Rui.

on one hand we got off topic, but the lecturing was a bit over the top.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 11:35:28)

The Junker armor , is to mimic the NPC, so reading the comments pertaining customizing, it would loose it's uniqueness within the game.

With Lowe, though it is suppose to be like the NPC version, it would be fun to see this more fitted to gender and class a tad.

Though some might feel I am lecturing, I am not. This topic was very specific on a segment of the game where, when these uni-armors were created, they were designed for easier class-change and not for specifics of gender or class. For it to be easier for coding, and that is why it was created. Now the newer armors are more formalized more to class and gender, it would be great for this segment of uni-armors that are still being sold, and possibly might be sold again to be updated to current fitted ability.

I was very specific on this topic. I did not talk about power, aesthetics, or other non armor elements. It was, if the game chose to bring these armors to current mutation standards, they could sell more of them, in comparison, and addition to the updated higher level version.

Aside from one post asking a player to understand the perspective in this thread, and don't posts non-issues to this topic This is a simple discussion of one topic. If you feel it is lecturing, my apologies, I want to keep this thread on focus to what it was originated to be. I don't wish to repeat the same thoughts over but evolve the discussion, that is why I posted the valid request.

If anyone created a thread that had specific intent, I wouldn't purposely post subjects in it to undermine the poster's effort in the discussion they wish to present. I would be respectful to them, and I hope people would be respectful to my efforts and me. If a person doesn't understand or wishes to understand the nature of the topic, yet, they still force themselves in posting non-productive thoughts, I find this highly unkind. I do ask to read and understand the core of this thread or any other thread before posting. When topics stray from the origin, they lead to topics being locked, or turn into a non-positive experience for all readers.

If you are offended by anything I wrote, pls reply on pm. I will be happy to speak with anyone who felt I went over-the-top.

~JZaanu

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 11:43:28)

yeah sorry.

it just seemed a very limited discussion which is why I threw in the stuff about the other armours. also their is the issue that they will not go
back and change the items if it involves new artwork. a whole new armour would be more profitable than redoing old limited supply armours.

a few say they support [no reason to not support] but then what direction did you expect the topic to take?

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 11:56:34)

Pivotal, you are very correct since it would be difficult to go back to update different past parts of the game. This is just a discussion with nothing to gain or lost; merely, it is a ponder. :) No harm done.

I do remember when this phase was introduced, many bought these armors, because they were competitively effective, but it made many of those players look the same, and thus, lost it's uniqueness in custom-ability.

I do feel, it would add more to sales just on gender/class aesthetics alone.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 11:58:57)

Space Warrior would be my pick if they WERE gonna go back and make a female version, it made females have midget heads :P

the armour is also good for levelling, as you can use it from level 23+

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 12:05:43)

@JZ another problem with Uni-armors is the select few that have built in helms because then if you are using a sword unless you check the character page or they use a special you have no clue what class you are fighting.

Frankly I feel they could have fixed the problem with things like Junker and George Lowe by doing with them what they did with Shadow Guard or City Guard Armors but it is to late to go back and change things now.

Luna_moonraider -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 12:54:08)

oh it would sell more it think but i just hope that the devs can fine tune the hazard husk for female char. i hate being called a she hulk,women with big muscles and monster women. wish my bio hazard husk would look like alydrone armor.

Elf Priest JZaanu -> RE: Uni-Gender Armors (3/18/2012 14:16:32)

Luna, I agree. Beyond the fun silliness factor, using this competitively, the Bio Hazard Armor is not a armor, but a reflection of the NPC. It would be great to have a female version of Bio as the example you gave, Alydrone.

It would be insightful if the staff could give a response in regard to the coding with some of the examples provided, and if this is even possible?
