What would you think of being able to watch another player battle? Speculation occurs when a player selects another player and chooses to view their battles... or from a list of currently active battles. It is against a person's privacy to see what they type in the chatbox, so you would only be viewing each turn played without speech.

(I cannot believe I had forgotten this idea from 2 years ago)

I would also argue that this would help in determining battle results as challenge battles no longer count in the records. If you would like to perform a tournament, then being able to literally see who dealt the last blow is great evidence.

This is also a great means to determine if there are any players playing unfairly, exploiting a bug or simply using modified coding.

I am sure that allowing players to spectate other players in battle would be a major success. I again obtained this idea from arcanists when I had used to play there. Spectating increases the entertainment factor.

Record the battle, the idea is not necessary

To accomplish what? How many players are able to record their battles? You need screen recording software to do that first of all, the competency to use the software (we have a dense youth population), the correct timing to capture an important event, and lastly be able to transmit the video file to other people.

With the capabilities of being able to watch someone else battle, the labour of providing a sustainable video for public or stricter usage is null.

That is my argument (or part of it anyways), to convention with spectating battles.

XxKirachanXx -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 20:15:03)

I, personally, would find this appealing, after several hours of poor luck and longs streaks of losses, it would be nice to see if I'm not the only one faring so poorly ;D

Stabilis -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 20:18:03)

And if you are able to, view players of the same class as you; you will be able to see the differences between your builds/strategies and make necessary changes to improve your character!

drinde -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:20:30)

Good idea, but maybe allow this ONLY if the Duelist wants the Audience Player(s). Or else build mimicry will get a lot worse.

Stabilis -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:30:15)

I will say that is fine as long as we have been provided enough moderators to see problems behind the scenes. Other than that I agree, players should be allowed their privacy not to be stocked every second of the game. [8D]

Silent blood -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:39:49)

well.. ive also had this idea but never
had the time to post it so i support it.
this would only count for accuall pvp
though right? not npc fights .. that
would be so boring lol. it would also keep
people from saying they won a fight when
they lost because you have proof :P

Renegade Reaper -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:39:51)

so just make an option to allow yourself to be watched in battle. uncheck it if you don't want to be seen.

Silent blood -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:40:58)

but if you made a check button everyone would
uncheck it, whats the fun in that???

drinde -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:47:38)

^

Why would everybody uncheck it? If you wanted to view somebody, you can always ask them to check it. :3

rej -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:49:57)

This idea has already been suggested and shot down many times before. Not supported.

Silent blood -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 21:55:46)

well alot of people will uncheck it because
they know they will lose and refuse to
check it , and what would
happen if your half way through
a fight and you uncheck it
would it just record half a fight?
that would stink 0:

Bandwagon effect?

Entertainment via computa-vision has been around since computers, and television since televisions, respectively 1973 for computers, and 1926 for tv. They say it had been designed by the Chinese before even then.

I would think that watching something for entertainment, especially watching EpicDuel would be in high demand. We should get a hits readout for the cutscenes when they were introduced. [8D]

AQWPlayer -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/16/2012 23:40:30)

My idea was to watch NPC vs NPC battles...lol. What's the point in watching PvP battles anyway?

Stabilis -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/17/2012 0:14:11)

The same point people play PvP for.[8D]

od -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/17/2012 4:56:01)

I think this is a great idea! Perhaps they could make it like homes, ( everyone can see your battles/only friends can/ no one can) to spectate a battle, it could be a finder-bot style thing where you have a big list of battles , but then you could filter by level/class/name
@Silent Blood
Even if few people would like to use it, it would still be a great feature for those who are willling to show their battles. It could also help lower level players see how higher levels play and possibly learn.
I also highly doubt that players would uncheck 1/2 way through a fight, but if it became a problem they could easily make it so you'd have to do uncheck out of battle

Silent blood -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/17/2012 9:03:01)

hmmmmm npc vs npc ? O_O
what about npc 2vs2
nightwraith and titan vs caden and big tuna
o.O (My money is on titan and nw)

Midnightsoul -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/17/2012 9:44:49)

Great idea. I'm also thinking of like you can bet a battle token on who is going to win, and if you do, you get two back.
Just adding to your idea.

-Midnightsoul

drinde -> RE: Spectate Battles (3/17/2012 9:49:46)

Adding to that:

Bet on lower LV: 3-1 Stakes
Bet on higher LV: 1-3 Stakes

Maybe?
