drodrae -> Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 5:59:48)

As most of you know, Robot Attack and Special originally had separate cooldowns. But because of the power of Gamma Bot's double attack, it was nerfed by making Bot Attack and Special cooldown based on one factor. Thus, 5 Focus got severely nerfed. Now, with the rise of power builds, would it be acceptable to return the original cooldown coding to allow 5 Focus builds to make a comeback? Considering it was nerfed almost purely because of Gamma Bot's double attack, and the newer, defensive/offensive bots, state your opinion. Please no flaming or trolling.

P.S. I have no bot myself, having yet to get a Rusted Assault Bot drop.

Wind -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 6:40:15)

Hey drodrae

I totally agree with you, since my build (which I am currently using) is a high technology build with 5 focus, and if they were to make bot attacks having separate cooldowns, this would greatly enhance my build and expand the variety of stat-balanced 'focus' builds.

Also to just to note, you are pretty much asking feed back (discussion) on the topic of "buffing" the power of bots by having separate cool-downs. And buffing certain battle attributes and characteristics in PvP battles is pretty much counted as balance suggesting. So I suggest that it may be better to post your topic in the =ED= Balance Discussion Thread where your topic, would be open for other players to view, criticise, and offer better feedback :)
Also the members of the balance team, view that thread frequently so the chances of them seeing your thread post is higher by posting in that thread.

Good idea in my opinion [;)]

ngshuyi94 -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 7:15:49)

Although this is a good idea, Gamma bot will be sort of 'OPed' because of its double attacks.

But like u said if it gets implemented then we can see more balanced builds instead of stat spammers, so why not? [;)]

Silent blood -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 7:39:25)

supported, everyone is strenth these days if this
happens more will have focus builds

drodrae -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 7:59:02)

@Wind
thanks for the feedback. imm not suggesting a change, but instead i want players' feedbacks on the possibilty of this. still, if i somehow broke a rule, or if forum mods/ak's deem this post a balance suggestion then please lock. thanks you :)

@ngshuyi & silent
yeah, we complained about 5 focus before due to gamma bot's power, but we could simply define a bot's abilities as either "Offense" or "Defense". This way if both are offensive moves, they share the cooldown, but if they're defensive & offensive, then they have separate cooldowns. etc. etc.any other comments regarding these?

ND Mallet -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 8:39:00)

One doesn't fix a problem by making a new problem you know. Bots were found to be too useful when they had the ability to loop your attacks in such a way that you never had to use Strike again. That would be a huge problem against the new BioBorg considering it would be rendered completely useless against other bot players considering they would have 4 turns to spend on bot, gun and aux and could spend another on a heal or another ranged attack if the turns were used in the right order for cooldown.

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 9:14:25)

I agree with Mallet.

better to fix the core problem than create a whole new one to counter it. and think how OP CH and TLM will be if robots are changed back.

TurkishIncubus -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 9:17:18)

5 focus builds was OP, thats why its nerfed, if cooldown will be like old times everybody will start to use 5 focus build (that was ridiculous in gamma, 90% of the builds was 5 focus)

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 10:06:32)

Agreed with mallet because with all the enhancements we have now a person could put them all into tech and get incredibly high robot damage.

Remorse -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 11:39:32)

Sorry I disagree,

Back then 5 focus was pretty much considered a powerbuild aswell...

Anyway the point is, rather then trying to bring everything up to the power of powerbuilds what needs ot be done is simply lowering the power of powerbuilds.

You guys need to understand that you CANNOT fight power by increasing power of the less powerful without making thimgs worse then it was already.

Its like trying to put out a fire with a tornado, sure the tornado may lower the flames of the fire but it just creates another problem.... the tornado.
And if the fire is strong enough it wouldnt get put out with the tornado instead they morph together to become a flaming tornado of doom..... (I may have tacken this metaphor a bit far....)

So instead of fighting power with power just reduce the power of the problem.

Trust me its the only way, Or would you rather the devs give another balanced class a passive armour to play around with??

PivotalDisorder -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 12:05:41)

this made me laugh. I had to picture it too.

ps: I fixed spelling in the quote. sorry :P

Stabilis -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 13:29:23)

I am getting used to the full robot lockout (both moves go to cooldown). But I do not completely support the quantity of cooldown turns. Primaries and Sidearms together have a infinite usage with some variability. Auxiliaries have a large cooldown and little variety. Robots have more variety, but an equally feeble damage output with the same cooldown as Auxiliaries.

I find that the weapon arsenal would be more balanced with an equal cooldown... not 0 or 1, but maybe 2 or 3 turns for each weapon. Control damage output with limits to damage.

Calogero -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/20/2012 13:56:13)

The Bots these days wouldn't make 5 focus OP really, the only Bot that would be a thorn in the eye and make the build OP is Gamma Bot and it's 2 attacks...

Couldn't come up with a better metaphore Remorse. lol

Nub Apocalypse -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/21/2012 2:04:12)

Right now, my 5 focus Gamma Bot wins ~85% of the time in 1v1, with no npcing. I will be more than glad to have it raised to over 90%.

K.Raza -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/21/2012 2:38:54)

Not sure about this but what if Gamma Bot was the only Bot to have cool downs (currently) & other bots can have separate cool downs?

sotsemod -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/22/2012 9:56:12)

Can't they make one cooldown for gamma bot and two separate cooldowns for the other bots?

Remorse -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/22/2012 10:04:48)

^ I like the fact that people cant use attacks and specials.

WHY?

If a high dmagae 5 focus tank wnats to use azreal to destroy sheilds they cant attack :D

I belive it fair this way.

Infact im my opinion the joining of bot cool downs is one of the best decesions the game made:)

I would hate to see them reverse one of the few well made decesions.

Midnightsoul -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/22/2012 13:31:19)

How about this...
you use one move...
the OTHER move goes into a cooldown of 1 turn...instead of 3... <_<
but Gamma Bot will have to be nerfed by 2 damage because when the bot nerf was applied, Gamma was given 2 more damage...but yeah...

-Midnightsoul

Sageofpeace -> RE: Robots: Considering Cooldown (3/22/2012 14:22:52)

from time to time we are having more robot so i think one less cooldown would help more right now
