I go rant on the forums Balance thread. :P

Mostly, if its SOLO, I try to fix my build.

If its 2v2, I switch to SOLO.

Edit: woops wrong thread, just realized.

Sipping Cider -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/7/2012 23:35:54)

When I first started playing, losing didnt really matter, it was all in the aesthetics of the game. As I actually became better and more competitive, losing started to become a nuisance. Then, after every battle, I started recording the different strategies my victors used and tried to master these myself. This started to get quite intense so now I just try improving when I lose to someone who is a lower level or has worse gear. If they are my level and have as good as gear as me, I just blame the loss on luck, or just forget about the loss in seconds.

Now, there are those people who taunt you after a loss with something along the lines or a word starting with n and ending with b. This infuriates me and I cant say anything back because chat is restricted or whatever at this time. Its funny when you play these players again and pwn them ;P

As for the symbol, it is quite gruesome indeed, and ugly to the mind. I just try having no reaction to it and focus the winning symbol in my mind, hoping I will do some magic and win more often this way.

SouL Prisoner -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/7/2012 23:45:39)

Well, if u can't control your anger ,when you lose, then just NPC and stay , happy and cool :)

XxKirachanXx -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/7/2012 23:54:20)

You ever have those jugg battles where it appears you have the fight in the bag. And then the guy with half your dex and a little more tech blocks twice and deflects for the win.

I'm a little picky about my jugg record for a level 28 nonvarium bounty hunter :3
And 120 wins to 43 losses, especially when the last six losses where in the last power hour does not sit well with me.
I should be a little nicer to my keyboard perhaps...I kinda vented on it :<

MrBones -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 10:37:37)

I make the best built as possible with the gear I have. I take my time before each move. I try to guess what my oponent is going to do. To sum it up, I do my best.
Why would I feel bad by doing my absolute best?

Like the great FayBeee said: "You can't win all your battles, in-game and in-life".

Don't let yourself be define by anything. Games should stay games. When the fun stops, go outside . .

liy010 -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 11:15:20)

I remember the Good Old days (Low Levels) where you just Spammed "Multi" and by the time all 4 Players used Multi the 2vs2 Battle was over...Now we attack one at a time and we Rarely see anyone with a "Multi" skills (Aside from a few Dex CHs and Support TLMs) and if they do have a Multi skill, it's usally EMPed...

ScarletReaper -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 14:25:21)

I still pwn 2v2 with my high tech blood mage. If they stll around after energy bunker and plasma rain, they are a beast. lol

Mdmarvel -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 15:35:12)

Whenever I lose, I always think: "DAAAAAM, I SHOULD HAVE USED THIS SKILL THAN THAT" and imagine a scene where I didn't made the same mistake. The only real thing that annoys me when I'm losing is when people say: "Bye noob". Other than that, other thing that hurts me is losing during power hour xD. But that skull image is really getting annoying.

Stabilis -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 15:45:15)

Hey guys,

what are your thoughts when the enemy shakes their fist in triumph over you, or doing backflips in pride?

What are your thoughts when, after the enemy defeats you, disconnects and exits before you do... and your lifeless, shambled body forgotten?

What are your thoughts when you had to see the "powerup now" button or the bloody, laughing skull there to troll you?

I personally have distaste for each of these and want them changed. I win 9 out of 10 battles, but what about people who lose 9 out of 10 battles??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Disrespect.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 15:51:20)

They won a battle Victory is no time to morn the death of thy enemy

As for getting the heck out of there after they win well they clearly have something important to do, such as win more fights for fun or meet self or faction win reqs.

Be happy after kindly pointing out to Cindy how glaring the Power Up now Button was, and a lot of other people agreeing with me that it was a bit much, Nightwraith found a way to sorta work it into the art from it just being a button, much like the button you use to buy or sell gear.

As for the bloody skull that is plenty good reason to adapt to the times and change I mean I recently went a massive purge of my free mission varium and my credits to grab four more enhancements(bringing my total up to 8) so I can add more health to my build and see that blasted skull less often. I then proceeded to make a bad build and saw it about 20 more times before retraining to another equally bad build. I repeated this process again before coming to my current build which I have yet to test

ansh0 -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 16:15:41)

When I lose to a rude opponent who calls me a noob and what not.....I laugh.
When I lose to a tactical opponent......I smile.
When I lose to an NPC....I rant about him/her being OP
When I lose a juggernaut battle..... well, rant about it >:D

Stabilis -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 16:24:51)

OWA,

You do post and construct very well on the forums, and I do not mean to challenge your beliefs... but I strongly disagree with your approach to these questions considering that EpicDuel is a game nonetheless. A simple reality. If we want to improve EpicDuel as a game, we should not account real world realism.

Taken by example, yes, you did just defeat some player in a 1v1 match, so it is natural to feel proud or accomplished. But... if you had just killed your real life mother for real, would you be able to shake your fists in pride over her corpse? I know, the example is extreme, my apologies, but I wanted to make you realize the relationship between staged death and real death. As a child friendly environment, Artix Entertainment should take notice of how they warp and enforce thoughts of very real circumstances in our world. I do not support wars, but EpicDuel has an entertainment factor that I value even just a little. It is a shame that crudeness can be taken so lightly... for kids. This would not be a significant issue if EpicDuel were to be rated higher.

I understand that people have to leave hastily at times, but if you lose, are you willing to give the victor the courtesy of leaving the room before you? Even if you feel or will feel let down? The fact that sometimes we fail to click end battle, or that the battle is running at a faster pace for the victor, that the loser has to sit there and watch the one who crushed them humiliatingly ditch the body as if they meant nothing, less than dirt. I would suggest that the sprites must remain until all players disconnect, if that is not the case, automatically disconnect all players after 10 seconds. This would even combat lag because of the AFK people who hang around like furniture DURING a battle, making that instance take up processing space just to handle the body.

Viewing the skull the way you do is not bad.

Wootz -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 19:07:58)

I lost. I lost.
I don't care about my win/lose ratio. :P

Mr Fluffy -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/8/2012 23:59:31)

Yeah I died 50 times trying to kill bio hazard finally did it looked at my loses and laughed

Necromantres -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/9/2012 5:24:33)

You Win Some You Lose Some But You Can Always Fight... Since I Made So Many Mystakes In This Game Losing Dont Make Me Mad..Only Times When i Get A Little Mad Is When I Lose By A Block/Deflect Or By A 1 Hp And I'm Like...Are You Kidding Me?

aomont -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/9/2012 13:11:18)

@reaper666
He didn't disconnect, it is lag's fault. He won and that is it, he moved to the next battle but you got stuck in that part of the animation.

I do not feel happy by the opponent like Battle Elf does but I do try to seek why I lost or why I'm making little damage or receive lots of damage.
I only get mad at me when I should have won and lose just like what @Joe said.
The skull image impressed me the first time I lost back in the begining because it contrasted with the image of my oponent (a sexy mage girl). Now, I barely looked at it, the skull I mean lol (neither do I look at the fist...).

SoraXRoxas -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/9/2012 13:37:21)

I only get angry when a lower level beats me by luck and calls me a noob,for example, a level 28 beat me when I was level 31 because he blocked me twice and then said I was horrible at the game when he won.

rayniedays56 -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/9/2012 13:37:48)

Losing is a part of the game. And yes, we all get mad eventually, but we can also control it :)

After all people...it...is...just....a....game :)

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/9/2012 13:42:26)

I've been having bad luck all day, getting crited multiple times by a person with around the same support, getting block by people with less dex, going second and having the first attack crit on me, getting a person under 5 health just to have them crit with exactly the amount of health I have. This hasn't been once or twice its literally 2/3 of every battle since reset. In cases like these I get mad.

friend18 -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/13/2012 10:40:58)

Personally, I don't really care if I lose in a fair fight. If I'm up against someone using beta weapons and a tech mage build, I get really annoyed. Just a few days ago, I was in a 2 v 2 battle. One of my opponents, Overlord Xorbin, was a level 34 Tech Mage using beta weapons with ridiculously high tech. He took out my partner who was a non-varium player and then proceeded to call the both of us noobs... Considering that he's level 34 and I'm only level 32 (and have not enhanced the majority of my items) and that I had a much higher W/L ratio, I was annoyed. I mean, he was lucky enough to go first and that one of his opponents only had 20 min resist. Otherwise, I'd have used technician on him and he'd be safe for a few turns. It's just annoying when you encounter an opponent who is incapable of creating his own unique build and is dumb enough to call someone a noob just because he was lucky enough to start. And it annoyed me because he kept calling the both of us noobs :/ In fact, since I had lower physical defense, it was his partner, a mercenary, that dealt the majority of the damage to begin with (bunker buster and artillery strike).

If I'm not up against opponents like that, I'm okay with losing, but the instant someone calls me a noob when they only have a 66% win ratio in 1 v 1 (with NPC-ing) and a 60% win ratio in 2 v 2, it just angers me.

The other thing that angers me is when I'm against someone 5 levels higher than me with a terrible build that gets two lucky crits in a row and leaves me at under 20 health. Noob is a shortened term for newbie. You can't call someone a noob, when you have a terrible win/loss record.

That reminds me, what annoys me the most is the player that calls you a noob right after winning and disconnecting immediately afterwards. Be glad that you're happy, but you don't have to insult someone. Now, I understand he probably lost a ton before and was just happy to win one, but that does NOT allow him to call me a noob, when his record is worse than mine.

On the bright-side, if I ever encounter them in a match again, I make sure to play it safe and usually get my revenge.

BadLT -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/13/2012 11:05:57)

skull radiates negativity and should be replaced by the same mercenary with the same victory fist except he is looking down, the current one creeps me out and seriously depresses me

Kidarmadyl -> RE: Losing a Battle (4/13/2012 13:52:25)

IMO, this game has lost its creativity, or is it the players?
anyway, if i lose to someone with the same class/build/strategy as half the players in ED, i usually don't type anything because its boring and old.
BUT if i see someone that's different, and being creative with classes (using the original mercenary with uncommon build) then i'd give them credit, and if they win, i type GG and compliment their good build.[:)]
