Wootz -> Role models (4/8/2012 18:54:59)

Hello everyone.

Today, I made an account called PloxAndWootz.
And I wanted to see how far can a non-varium Bounty Hunter go in one day. And 6 hours of the previous one.

In Croatia, the servers restart at 6 AM, I started battling at 10 AM, now it is 00:43 AM; I have been battling the whole day long with barerly an hour of break. Thank God for my friends to be here. In those 12 hours I've done 404 wins, and around 200 loses. And I can easily defeat anyone with an Non-Varium Bounty Hunter.
Currently, I'm behind at the 3rd place, behind Comicalbiker and The.Master.Killer both of which are level capped players with Varium.
And I am able to defeat opponents in the same time, even faster then them. And, since the last hour I switched to an Cheap Shot build I have been closing in the gap 2-4 times faster.
My goal isn't to win todays Daily Solo Championship, my goal today is to be a role model to every new and some old players here and now that by being smart and patient you can achieve far more then you tought you could.
Every player should try to put his head into the game(not literally...) and play smart as I am right now from the begining.
Today I leveled up 7 levels, soon to be 8. From level 14.

I just want to say. That there should be some role models in the game. Not just the top players. But the average players like you and me.
I think the Staff should implent a feature in which you could send a Private Message in-game to a so called "role model" hoping he or she would or could help him/her be better right from the start. Maybe that could be in the tips that will come soon. A option to message a more experienced player to help you.
I have roughly 5 more hours until the server restart. And I want for everyone on here who will see this message to start helping out new players right now!
Don't you feel sorry to see a low level character with a completly random build who loses 95% of the time? Do something about it! Help everyone!

What do you think about all this? Would you endorse something like this to come in the game? Or would you not.
Thanks!
Wootz

Stabilis -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:08:56)

This is a widely known feature, master and apprentice. A player with experience accepts a player with less experience under their wing. The master is rewarded for each level the apprentice achieves, such as FAME or TOKENS or CREDITS.

A master can aid their apprentice by giving advice (player to player trading does not exist). An apprentice should also be rewarded, maybe a credit prize for levelling.

That is the general idea.

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:12:08)

Then why don't I see it anywhere suggested or discussed?
I think it would be of great help.

DeathGuard -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:13:50)

It was suggested really long time ago, many were happy about helping newbies and all that. Anyways you're a great player Wootz so keep doing it

Stabilis -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:15:28)

Wootz, when I say widely known, I mean this feature trails on many many mmos that I have played... and I think it is a great feature.

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:17:29)

Heheh, thanks Deathguard. :)
I owe it all to Devil..
Without him, I wouldn't be where I am right now.
He was the Master and I was the Apprentice back then. And now it has happened that the Apprentice has beaten the Master.
I still remember the 4 random battles againts him when I was an level 28 F2P BH.
With Touch of Agony and some other weak gear.
I lost three times and on the fourth one I won. And we became friends, I entered his faction.
And now, close to a year or maybe it has been already a year I am still in the same faction. For the fourth time and I am happy to be in it. And I will stay in it until I make my own one.
Devil.. you are the best there ever was, there is and ever be!

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:30:07)

Back when I ran Hells Angels(disbanded april first because it was completely dead) my goal was to train new players with all of my wisdom of Epicduel and even though I am now a member of Basicball(sadly I switched from an exile to a legion faction) I still go out of my way to help people improve there tactics in battle because most people don't take to kindly to being told to retrain.

So would I support a system of helping people yeah I would.

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:34:18)

Thats great OWA! ;)

Couldn't you just kick everyone and invite the new ones again?
Fresh start is a good option. :)

Stabilis -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:36:29)

I remember in Maplestory that I met one of my masters, he gave me a decent weapon and told me to kill slimes for our mastership quest. I returned and levelled up upon completion, he rewarded me with potions and showed me really great maps.

I definitely adore this feature. Master and apprentice please!!

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:38:14)

I never tried Maplestory. They really implented that? Now I want to try it xD
I'm thinking of e-mailing this to Titan. :)

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:39:00)

@Wootz that would be the fourth complete revamp of the faction and it was just time to move on from being a leader to follower because Faction Leader step down wasn't in the foreseeable future. But it does sound like a good plan on paper to keep helping out the little guys

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:42:51)

It certanly does. Well, good luck being a follower! ;)

I'll be making my own soonish, for once to be a Leader. The first time I ever made one.

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:46:57)

Wootz I would suggest you find 6 people who would not mind/would enjoy being a role model to lower level players and making them your officers so you are more likely to cover all the classes with past or present experience and if someone in the faction needs help they just need to contact an officer or you

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:54:39)

Heheh, I will, I will ;)
I'd like to have you, though! ;)

Stabilis -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 19:59:33)

My most significant dilemma regarding factions, is that so many players want to join to be competitive and win, rather than be casual and enjoy.

Sad but true. [:(]

I know because I have been trying to hire casual members for months, and as soon as I mention that we are not looking to get leaderboard status... they decline. [:(]

One Winged Angel1357 -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 20:00:44)

@Depressed go for recruiting low level players it works more then not and you can give some great aid to players in need

Stabilis -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 20:05:07)

I should have mentioned, I am looking for experienced players such as level capped, but have little regard for pride & competition.

Sain -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 20:18:56)

I like the idea of a master/apprentice deal. Great way of encouraging newer players or ones that just need a little help.

Mr. Black OP -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 20:27:28)

I remember when I was leveling up, I got almost no advice till I was level 30 and by then I didn't need it, I figured out the game and was beating level 30s at level 27.
I helped a few newer players though, I have 1 in my faction who joined at level 27 with a terrible record now he's level 30 and a decent record

ORDER -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 20:57:01)

Master and apprentice sounds cool. I would love to train the next Sith Lord... er, I mean Jedi knight.

Battle Elf -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 21:00:45)

Gratz Wootz! Hope you get 1v1 :D

Stabilis -> RE: Role models (4/8/2012 21:10:42)

quote:

Mater and apprentice sounds cool.

Agh!

We could look at it this way though, mater means mother in Latin.

Wootz -> RE: Role models (4/9/2012 0:08:36)

Thanks Elfeh! <3
Currently losing, because Falcon can't lay clicking down. :/

Joe10112 -> RE: Role models (4/9/2012 0:17:16)

Whenever I'm facing a level 27 or so with horrible weapons and stuff, I usually skip a turn or two to just tell him to save up for armor (easier now since prices slashed), and to get blank weapon, to NPC (what's that they ask?), to retrain into a quick kill build, etc...
