Having the message to see that you won something outside the game can be a bit annoying, noises will/might be created like the one in MechQuest when you close the tab. The higher the rate of winning, the more people will get the items/prizes. Before it was hard to receive drops in arcades, to make it fun and full of luck, the percentage of the drops were low.
Since the weapons and a few other items get dropped, the best thing to use them is for Credits or in this case; Varium. Cleaver people wont spend Tokens just hoping to win a prize when some just get rewarded for free. So Credits and Varium are the best options to use in these things, but the staff wont probably put high amounts of Varium since they want to get more money by people purchasing it for like $50. But this is your choice.
