Prologue What is reality? What made it? If I die, will reality ceast to exist for me? Or will it simply become more real? The chamber of summoners fell silent as the stone mouth of the great dragon opened. From it flowed five balls of energy. The vessels for the spirits stood in the center of the room, featurless newborns for the elements to mold. The first one to come was greenish brown. A chant arose from the monks."One for the earth so that it may tremor." The green ball floated into the stomach of the middle child. The infant's eyes shined with a brown glow then went back to normal. A large green rune appeared on it's forehead, forever marking it as a SoulBorn. The second to move forward was was blue. "One for the water so that it may flow." The blue ball floated to the second child on the left. This time the a blue rune apeared across it's chest. It's eyes glowed blue, the settled back into they're normal color. The next to move forward was the red ball. It chose the child on the far left. "One for fire so that it may roar." This time when it entered the child, it's lit up broght red, filling the underground chamber with the most light. The light died down and a red rune appeared on the child's right arm. The fourth ball to flow forward was a black and white ball. Two personas swirled around each other, the embodiment of neutrality "One for the void so that it may bring balance." The ball chose the child on the right. As it entered, one of the infant's eyes turned a hideous black, while the other turned a pure white. They settled back down to grey. A yin yang appearred in the child's back. The last ball, almost invisible, floated forward. Just as it was about to take a child, a boom erupted from the entrance of the chamber. Cries could be heard through the door. The frightened air spirit fled back to the mouth of the dragon. Immediately the beast's maw snapped shut, taking the air spirit with it. The dragon's glowing red eyes began to fade and turned back to stone. Just as they died out, the room was filled with Merudian soldiers. One of them, a knight judging by his more regal attire, held up a scroll. "Under orders of thee king, you are hereby to cease and decist this heresy at once!" A monk moved forward. "But I don't understand! We have papers signed by the king himself allowing us to practice our ritual." The look on the man's face was one of pleading. "That may have been under the rule of King Pramus, but now are subjects of the holy Ditus! Under Ditus' first act, you are to cease all practices and turn these children over to the government!" The knight raised his sword. Four soldiers moved forward and all hell broke loose. History does not no who made the first strike, if anybody. All that is known, is that each and every monk in that room was slaughtered, save for a one. Alestio, a mousy young man who had managed to secure his safety in exchange the solemn oath to never speak of the horrific events. As for the children, they were trained in the ways of the warrior, raised as perfect soldiers for a kingdom who had stolen them. Earth, Water, Fire, and Void. These four elements patrol the streets of Muridia, ever vigilant to the threat of death.
