Xavier Oriel -> Helpful/Very Helpful Forum Title Questions... (4/26/2012 7:16:50)

Quoted from Alina on this post (http://forums2.battleon.com/f/tm.asp?m=12938799) :

quote:

Helpful/!: This title is given to outstanding forum users. To earn the title, they need to be both helpful and have a good attitude. People who actively seek the title will likely not be rewarded with it as "title-seeking" is discouraged. This title usually comes with avatar upload (at the moderator's discretion). A variation of this title is the "Very Helpful/!" title.

Which lead me to wondering. What form of helping is needed to be done to receive the title? Do you have to be ready to answer every question and have a guide to receive the title, or just be helpful at all times?

If you cannot understand this, I can rephrase this for you. ^.^

You don't have to answer every question if you don't even know what's the answer for it, also you won't need a guide if you don't know how to and if you cannot even understand what's written in the content. Don't be trying hard just to help although you don't know the answer, just be your self and nothing will be harmed.

You have to genuinely be helpful. You can be just be answering questions for the title, or making a guide for the title, but actually wanting to help others out is what matters most. A good example of this is in the Q&A forum, where sometimes, people are just racing to get that first post in, giving answers that are vague and are at the bare minimum (without links, etc.). That's not a very good indication for a title and it's much better to just give a concise detailed answer.

I may or may not have got the Helpful title when I'd been on the forum for a while(this is going back over 5 years lol) but generally to get considered for such things you just need to be active, helpful (as in when answering questions redirecting to the relevant F.A.Q, infomation post, wiki ect and not giving really vague anwsers), dont berate peoplefor not knowing something, not "mini-moding" and avoid using excessive internet speak(u, wut, lol ... ect).

In addition, sometimes people who help out in the Encyclopedias are given the helpful title - for example Leon Shadowhart, Voodoo Master, and I all received said title from Pedia work.

But really, it's all about trying to be helpful, but not seeking the title. Title seekers generally don't receive what they want.
